I went to PC world today in Erdington…
I went to PC world today in Erdington and attempted to buy a TV receiver and a microwave. They Insisted on me providing personal details before the purchase, which I refused to give. As a result of this I decided to pop next door to Argos and buy the same items there, only at a reduced price
Scammed
I bought a laptop in 2011 and took out their 'extended warranty'. Took the laptop in for a repair in 2020 and was told that because it was so old they'd cancelled the warranty and I was no longer paying for it. September 2024 I noticed that I was paying £8 a month for something that I had assumed was for another laptop. I investigated and discovered that I was still actually paying for the warranty they'd told me was cancelled. I emailed them and explained what had happened, expecting them to refund the money but apparently they have no record of their employee telling me in the shop that my warranty was cancelled as my laptop was 9 years old and because I have no record of a verbal conversation, there's nothing I can do but wave goodbye to almost £400 they've had off me for nothing. The email I received today explained that I cannot go to the ombudsman because their 'extended warranty' is not regulated. That's nice to know, Curry's PC world sell unregulated financial products and there's nothing you can do when you don't record and date conversations with employees instore if you have a problem at a later date.
PC World Repair service is pathetic.
Laptop died on Monday evening. Took in to PC World Tuesday am, booked in for repair and was charged £50, plus parts. Chased up Thursday and Friday to check repair status and was told I would be contacted in 24-48 hrs. Not good enough! Went in Saturday to find my laptop hadn't even been sent to the repair centre yet (after 4 full days!). So took it back and asked for (and got) a refund of my £50 deposit. Took it to a local repair shop Saturday lunchtime and had it fixed by 5pm at a cost of £20. PC world repair service is a dead loss, AVOID!
Went today at Currys store in Mansfield…
Went today at Currys store in Mansfield to buy new owen. Staff didn’t know anything and refused to help. When I told that they don’t want my business and I will look to buy it somewhere else then sales representative told me that’s fine. She wasn’t helpful at all - I wonder , do their staff actually receive a training how to speak with customers or they just employ who ever .
gaming laptop
My daughter wanted a gaming laptop and she has research what she needs and asked me to take her to PC World in Coventry retail park, London Road
What a waste of time we arrive go to the gaming section thiers a couple of member of staff floating around, we start to look and realise that none of the prices are on the laptops so start looking for a member staff and they all disappeared we looked as if we need some help no one comes so After a while I track someone down nice young gentleman I said are you busy? Can you help? He said yes. We explain what we needed and the price point we were looking at and helped as much as he could however everything he touched didn’t work the tablet the PC he was just wasting his time. Eventually we found a laptop that was the right price and all the specification that we wanted to place the order for us for a collection or home delivery to ask for help as again the equipment installed did not work alone. Behold they were members of staff everywhere talking to each other not looking for staff not doing anything quite disgusting and all of a sudden he comes back and says he has some good news and some bad news the good news it’s in stock. Bad news. We had to go home and order online.
So the retailer sent us out to the shop to purchase the item at home online we came home we purchased from Costco they lost the sale absolutely ridiculous and the day age no wonder retail is dying

Very bad impatient don't care attitude from Gurmeek who claims to be a manager. I took my pc into the store because of his impatient made me forget my passcode. All Gurmeek was bothered about was me paying £70 for a 1-2-1 service. All I wanted him to do was just confirm my protection was set up correctly from when I had PC World set it up when I bought it as I was getting a message on my PC
Very disappointed with Gurmeek at DrakeHouse Store
After bad behaviour display by…
After bad behaviour display by supervisor and staff at pc world slough,I made a complaint to their head office, spoke to a chap by the name of Glynn Harris and to investigate and call back after one week.
Waiting for five weeks no reply when I contacted I was told investigation was closed on 21st of July with wrong doing founded.
In short they brushed the matter under the carpet without informing the aggrieved.
This sums up Pc world.
Slough store don’t care and management is willing to cover up.
No wonder stores are closing and people are buying from on line.
Beware of pc world insurance
Bought a PC 8 years ago and it broke 3 years ago. Binned it and bought a new one. Saw a debit on my bank account which I never noticed before for £3 a month going back years on an old debit card number. After contacting pc world I found out it was insurance from pc world for a PC I binned 3
years ago. The new pc I also bought from pc world. I complained that I had not received any paperwork in all that time and they said a letter was sent out 3 years ago and they just auto renew policy. Never received letter. Why would I throw out old pc if I knew I had insurance! Would'nt refund anything. Took nearly £500 from me. Disgusting. Will never use this company again. Another loyal customer lost.
Dreadful customer service.
Having bought an item online, I duly received my click and collect email and set off to drive the seven miles to the Chelmsford store. No one was manning the either the pay till or the collection point. A staff member was talking to a customer at the tech desk. I waited. After more than 10 minutes (I timed it), a staff member came to the till, utterly ignored me and attempted to go away again. I pointed out that I had been waiting some time without even an acknowledgment of my existence. He waked off saying he’d try to get someone to come over. A full 6 minutes later, a lady came up and asked if she could help. I said I’d come to collect an item but was wondering if I still wanted it. She asked my name, went to a cupboard and gave it to the occupied staff member at the tech desk saying, “She’ll deal with it when she’s finished “. Another few minutes went by and the lady at the tech desk asked me if I was collecting the item. I said I wished to cancel the purchase. She said, “so just don’t need it any more?” I replied that, I was a little peed off by being ignored for over 15 minutes and that I could by the same item at John Lewis where I would be afforded a little more courtesy. I realise that my action was petty but PC World needs to work on its customer service. I for one shall not be returning to this store.

Hi all
Just please be careful with baying any Apple devises from the store in Cheltenham as they could sell you the products which have IMEIs don't exist in UK. It means these products are illegible to sell in UK. So please, once you in the store make sure that IMEI on your devise is acceptable for UK, and make a note in purchase document just in case
I have a very experience and…it was fantastic
I have a very experience and professional staff assistant 76 chris at the Southbury road branch on the 13/05/24.He spent time with me and very knowledgeable about the laptop and advise me what I required. Very patient and great customer service to the store and he installed all the bundle for me.Well done.Miss Y Armour.
Poor management poor training poor customer service. In fact zero customer service.
@ Currys PC World Rochdale The Old Cricket Ground, Dane St, Rochdale OL12 6XT. This review is for you.
I called this lunch time (13th May '24) to return a £130 defective gaming keyboard which had lasted just 2 weeks. What I thought was a driver issue was a defective usb port.
I joined a couple in the customer service queue with not a single member of staff behind the counter. After waiting 10 mins I asked the couple in front if they had been seen to. They advised that their presence had been acknowledged but they had been told they had to wait for a certain member of staff to deal with customer service. Another 5 mins later, a PC world chap walks over and advised that we would have to be patient has he was understaffed today. Now the fact that he phrased it that "he was understaffed" suggested he was the store manager. The lady from the couple in front of me ask that chap, is there anyone else or only that one person, who can do the customer service job. He replied yes with a comment along the lines of his other staff are only shop floor workers. I walked out after 20 minutes without having been seen to. Nor had the couple in front of me. I get 30 mins for lunch so needed to leave.
I would like a PC World head office boss to tell me exactly how many members of staff work working around 1:20pm that day? I counted 2 people messing around with printers and the spec signage. There was another lady which came to process a sale. She was joined by another lady after the customer had left and from what I overheard it needed two people to deal with how to process a credit, or something like that. There was another lady talking to customers in one of the isles. There were two staff members on the far side of the store seemingly discussing the much more important topic of how hang some items on the wall display they seemed to be rearranging. The couple front of me said that one of those people was who we had to wait for. She had been over to the customer service counter before heading back to sort the complex issue of rearranging the display. Very very ignorant. I saw at least another 2 members of staff at the back of the store just stood around. So in total I counted at least 8 staff members in the front of the store at that time, with only two customers browsing and 3 of us stood waiting at customer services. No doubt there were more staff members working in the warehouse back of house.
Issue No 1
How bad is the manager that has not trained more than one member of staff.
Issue No 2
How bad is that manager that it never even crossed his mind to jump on the customer service desk. He was doing absolutely nothing else other than claiming he was understaffed then continued to walk around aimlessly.
Issue No 3
How bad are the staff prioritising remedial tasks over customers who were waiting over 20mins.
I bet nobody from PC Worlds head office will grace my review with a response and clarify my request to know how many staff members were working at that time.
I can honestly say I cannot stand PC World. They have very little in store. Everything seems to be internet order only. Gone are the days where you could pick up some RAM or Processor etc. Do yourselves a favour, Use Scan in Bolton as these are so much better in every aspect. The only reason I didn't use them to buy a keyboard was that I didn't want to drive the 20miles to get there.
Access to website not allowed from outside UK
I recently went abroad for 1 month and while I was outside the UK I wanted to check products on PC World website and order something to arrive to my home address in the UK for when I get back. Unfortunately PC World does not allow access to their website from abroad. WHY?!!!
£75 to diagnose a cracked laptop screen
My daughter managed to damage the screen on her nearly new MacBook by dropping her phone on it.
I had found numerous quotes for replacing the screen locally of around £360 on Google but before committing to anyone I decided to ring pc world where we got the machine from. After telling me it would cost £75 just to have the fault diagnosed I pointed out that the machine needed a screen replacement and asked how much it would cost. A straightforward question you would think.
Answer: ‘No idea’.
Went to Apple in the end.
£75 to diagnose a thick black bar down the middle of the screen… come on.
No Courtesy or Help
I visited the Livingston Store earlier today and I enquired about obtaining 2 in number screws to secure my Lenovo laptop ( bought from the store several years ago).
The person standing by the entrance door around 2:30pm was the most unhelpful and disinterested person I’ve met in a long while.
Not the correct person for this job. Not helpful in any way. Either he was not interested or not trained in any courtesy in dealing with customers whatsoever. Not a good advertisement for this company.
The worst place to shop!!

I use a cellular modem for ALL my Internet needs. For some stupid reason, PC World doesn't like this, and I can't access their website. I have to go elsewhere. Muppets!

Dear potential customers:
Dear potential customers:
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Me, and my wife visited CURRYS/PC WORLD in Ashton-Under-Lyne on Tuesday the 19th December (19/12/23) My intention was to buy my kids there presents. They each wanted laptops and other various electrical items. Me and my wife had selected the Christmas presents for the children, got to the payment counter, paid on my card. I received text message from bank saying funds had been taken pretty much immediately. As we were gathering the Christmas presents together to leave the store, the CURRYS/PC WORLD representative explained that the system had crashed, and they couldn’t confirm payment, that we couldn’t take the presents we had just paid for. They then went on to explain that the money would be returned in the next 2-3 days to my account. I woke up this morning to the money moving from pending status in my account - to transferred to CURRYS/PC WORLD. Upon realising this, I went straight in to store today to get my children’s Christmas presents. I was told that they couldn’t give me the items I’d purchased, and that they would need to contact head office to confirm. They explained that this process would not conclude till at least the 27/12/23. This means my children do not have any gifts to open on Christmas Day. Me and my wife have worked all year, and saved to be able to buy our children these gifts. We now have no money to re-buy these gifts. I feel sick with it.
I am desperately trying to get this rectified before Christmas Day.
I am getting no help from anyone that I am communicating with.
Can someone please contact me ASAP. My number is: 07955 808 230.
