My dad placed an order for a part (15th July 2026) he received a phone call saying “that the part ordered wouldn’t fit his vehicle” and that he would have to pay an extra £300 for the right part, this includes £312 for the part he ordered.
My dad didn’t want the part and cancelled the order.
He never received an email of confirmation for the order or the part in question.
Ever since this we have been chasing for the refund 3 phone calls up to now.
I asked to be put through to a complains teams and was told they don’t have one.
They gave me a website to email them but that would just the customer services team.
AVOID this company especially when it comes to getting your money back.

Wrong part delivered

The item i ordered was despatched in a timely manner,and received two working days later. Unfortunately it was delivered to the billing address, not the delivery address, which was 150 miles away. This cost me financially,and time wise.
However the part was good and exactly what I ordered.
I am now getting repeat reminders to order parts that I do not require.

Poor warranty process and support
Had to purchase replacement exhaust back box as previous item failed under warranty. Warranty process is far too long (currently 4 weeks and waiting with no resolution) with vehicle unusable during this time due to exhaust failure. E-mails go unanswered and need to call through every time I need to try to get an update.
Staff are friendly and helpful and cannot fault fast delivery. Would have been 5 stars if warranty process was not so slow.

Unprofessional and dismissive to the Customer
After speaking with an agent and giving the registration of my vehicle I received parts for an urgent repair for my MOT. Upon receiving the parts they were clearly wrong, I ordered for a Mitsubishi and these were Mercedes stamped part, different size, length and needed. I started an email conversation asking for the part to be replaced at the cost of the company. Firstly I was totally dismissed as it being a customer error but after emailing they them 18 times with pictures of the wrong and picture of the correct parts (as I had to order from another motor factor due to Online automotives complete disregard that they were incorrect). Online automotive eventually and some what reluctantly admitted that they has review the phone log and they had used the incorrect registration. At this point I did not need the parts and asked for full refund including the additional shipping charge, after many more emails they sent a Royal Mail return slip and the postman dutifully picked up the package. I waited a number of week and emailed to find out if my refund has been issued.... No response, I had to email a further 10+ times before getting a definitive answer. That answer was sorry we dont have the returned parts so unless you have tracking for the parcel, nothing we can do !!! So in summary, they very unprofessionally fought with my that it was my fault the wrong parts were sent, until they checked their records and seen their error, have refused a refunded due to some issue in the return process they arrange and I completed. Never use them if you expect correct parts and them to honour their returns policy.
Update from initial review:
Basically washing their hands of it.
Below is a summary of facts regarding my case:
- Online Automotive made a mistake and shipped the wrong parts.
- Online Automotive argued with the customer, making them send endless emails to prove the wrong parts were sent.
- Online Automotive eventually after many many emails admitted to fault.
- Online Automotive issued a return label, which they had control over.
- Online Automotive did not check the status of the return for over a month.
- Online Automotive did not contact me to ask had package been sent, so they could track.
- Online Automotive are now stating, they are unethically not willing to refund.
So I do not have the goods nor do I have the money reimbursed for the goods, I am not sure where I stand legally?
Update Oct2026 - No update from Online Automotive since my last email. Therefore I believe they close my case, pocketed my money, for a part I sent back to them in good faith using the process they has setup and paid for.
