I would like to give an honest review of our experience with Oltco Hemel Hempstead and St Albans (who also operate Oltco Northampton and Oltco Milton Keynes).

Firstly, there was no drawing or plan that everyone had agreed to so when it came to the design of the step, no-one knew what size it was meant to be. We didn't know whether the resin was meant to run under the garage door or not and whether the border stones were going around 3 or 4 edges of the driveway. It felt like people just made it up as they went along. When I said I was concerned about the lack of plan, the owner and the groundworker met me the day before work was due to start and we discussed the plan but this was still very vague because it was only verbal (ie: nothing in writing for anyone to refer back to).

Secondly the ground works weren't finished on the day that the base concrete pour was planned for. We expressed concern because two of the borders were at completely different heights and they would not have been able to meet in the corner, plus there still part of a tree stump that hadn't yet been dealt with. The owner did not want to cancel the concrete and pressured us to continue. Thankfully my husband stood firm and the concrete was cancelled so the groundworks could be completed to an adequate standard and also our Virgin Media cable (which had been damaged on Day 1 of the groundworks) could be fixed and encased in the concrete, as was the agreed plan.

There are far too many issues to list them all here. However some issues were careless and could have been easily avoided, such as concrete all over our garage door and also the newly laid stones on the edge of the step.

Others felt like they were the result of amateurs at work.

The owner's attitude when all the issues were laid out to him at the end was that the drive was finished and that was all that mattered. The journey to get to the end result was painful, stressful and frustrating. The owner was defensive and did avoid accountability for all the issues. Given all the problems, I would have expected him to visit the site but he only came the day before the resin was due to be installed, after we mentioned some raised parts in the concrete that we were concerned about. These were 'all fine but the more significant high spots will be chiseled off'.

We paid a premium price in the assumption that they knew what they were doing and that the whole process would run smoothly with little to no involvement from ourselves. This couldn't be further from the reality of what we experienced over the 3 weeks our job took to complete.

The end result is great but we truly wish we had chosen a different company to give our money to. The outcome would be the same but it wouldn't have been such a bad experience to get there. All the stress has taken the shine off our new drive and it's all abit of an anticlimax now.

Edit (5/1/26) - 3 weeks after paying the final balance, I have finally received the guarantee document (after much chasing). I have also been made aware that Oltco relieved our groundworker of his duties a week before Christmas, as a result of our complaint, which I think is an awful thing to do. Our complaint was directed at Oltco and the owner's lack of organisation and accountability. The groundworker was the main positive about our experience with Oltco. He sorted out the issues that occurred while he was off sick to a great standard and was prepared to represent the company and placate frustrated customers, when the owner was not! I hope he moves onto much better things in 2026!

We recently had a fairly large drive done with Oltco. Right from the beginning, Adrian was thoroughly professional and went out of his way to ensure we had the information we needed, was happy to supply us with many samples and have the job completed to a very high standard. We have had so many compliments. It was a pleasure to work with him and his team.

In August I had my patio and paths in the back garden laid with Oltco resin bound. The workmen were all courteous and helpful offering good ideas whilst carrying out the works. I was pleased with the work they did apart from the two concrete steps which had not been prepared by the groundwork men prior to Oltco MK laying the resin.
Boarding and a tarpaulin were laid on the front driveway to protect it as this was where the rubble was left for the grabber lorry. Unfortunately the same care and protection of the lawns and other areas of the back garden was not given by the company which carried out the groundwork - Mem’s Home Improvements. I was promised by the company throughout that the rubble would be removed from the lawns and other areas on completion. This was not done. Oltco returned to rectify some lethally sharp corners on the steps and the men were appalled to see the amount of debris left on the lawns, etc. and kindly removed the large majority of the concrete and stones and other rubbish. They were good.
Oltco asked for the groundwork men to return to make good the two steps and pick up the smaller stones which were large enough to cause damage to a lawnmower or nearby windows. Mehmet promised to come back several times but always gave an excuse for not being able to do so.
My advice to anyone wanting to sign up for work is to ensure that they lay tarpaulin over the lawns, etc. so that your precious lawns and areas are protected. Once the work is complete, including Oltco, withhold a decent amount of the groundworks bill to give time to ensure you have inspected every aspect of the job as it may only come to light after Oltco complete.
The groundwork was never completed and I have had to have the steps filled in and the rest of the stones picked from the lawn, etc.

Having a drive laid is a major piece of work so to have it all done in the promised 5 days was a bonus. The team of 5 all worked on specific parts and were courteous and efficient. The finished drive and pathways are above and beyond how we thought they would look. Cannot fault Oltco and thoroughly recommend

In reading these reviews, potential customers should remember that Oltco operates a franchise system. In such a system, no matter how good the materials are, the outcome will always depend on the local franchisee. The guy who did a brilliant job in, for example, Nottingham, is not doing to be the guy who does your job in, say, Brighton.

On the positive side, the quotation was very well presented and communications from the local Oltco representative were polite and prompt. The resin, skilfully laid, looks lovely, and the sub-contractors (bricklayers and electricians, in our case) were excellent.

On the negative side, we felt that the franchisee was unprofessional, in that insufficient attention was paid to the architect’s plans, and paths were not laid out accurately as a result. I frequently had to intervene to insist that kerbs and pavers were laid correctly. At one point, 37 square meters of tarmac was laid without the necessary MOT base, all of which had to be taken up and re-laid later. Considerable damage was done when a dumper truck was reversed into a garden wall, and plaster and paintwork had to be repaired inside the house as a result of vibration from compaction; to be fair, Oltco paid for the repairs, but it was something that could have been avoided. Finally, there was a lax attitude to Health and Safety; for a couple of days I had to loan the workers hi-vis jackets when they were working near a busy road.

I should add that this was the third major project I have commissioned in my lifetime, and I know from experience that no project ever goes completely smoothly. Nonetheless this was the most problematic. Overall verdict; Room for Improvement.

Last year I ordered a new resin path. I contacted Oltco who got a company in Liverpool to contact me. The rep came to my home , I chose the colour. I paid the deposit for the work to be started. They took payment end September and started the work in October over some days. The firm damaged some tiles on my porch, managed to block one of my drains with cement. Then to crown it all I came home to find that had laid down the wrong colour. The next day I phoned the rep informed him of this, he apologised and said it would be rectified at a cost to themselves, he also stated because of the time of year it would be in the New Year. I heard nothing from them until August when someone rang me to say they could come then and relay the correct colour, this was not convenient for me at that time.Sent the rep a text never heard anything back. Today received a demand for the rest of the money or they were putting the matter in the debt collectors hands. Why has it taken 12 months the errors on there behalf and expecting us to pay for something we did not order. I will be contacting Citizens Advice and asking them to report this to Trading Standards. Oltco broke the contract by putting down the wrong resin and now threatening debt collectors. I still have the wrong colour down

Had a brick paving driveway at 3 years old looked like it was 20 years old. Turns out it was constructed completely incorrectly with incorrect materials and stuff missing. It also sank within 3 months.
Called the Newquay team who came out. One we agreed a deal. Ross and the groundwork team did their stuff. Taking away approximately 10 tonnes of material. Ross answered all my questions also completing a couple of bits that I was concerned about. Again done wrong on the previous install. Tbh. It’s the work done by Ross that makes this job. The resin layers have it easy and take the credit! All in all a great job done great presentation and finish

From first meeting to final handover, the Edinburgh crew were a pleasure to work with and hard working. Even after a couple of hiccups with weather which was outwith Oltco's control, Jason explained what was happening and was back as soon as possible. From the very first interaction to the final finish we couldn't be happier with our drive.
The groundworks team where really friendly and explained everything they were doing and the exact time frames for every delivery. We had a delay for the final resin layer due to bad weather but finally got it finished in about 5 hours for around 100sqm so very impressive. Only downside was being housebound for 24 hours as it was our main entrance to the house. I would highly recommend the team in Cornwall to anyone.

We had a great experience with Oltco. Two years ago, we had resin laid in our back garden, but unfortunately, we had drainage issues within a couple of months. After a long and drawn-out process, we discovered that the drainage issue was due to the clay and groundwork we had done.

We contacted Oltco, and they agreed to fix the problem once we had sorted the groundworks. Michael from the Milton Keynes franchise of Oltco was fantastic throughout. His positive and timely communication kept me reassured while I waited for the separate grounds work company, who were utterly useless.

Once the groundworks were done, Michael, Ash, James, and Brandon came and did a wonderful job. They were all brilliant people who went above and beyond to ensure that the job was done to the highest standard.

I can’t speak highly enough of Oltco and their team. They are a great company and a pleasure to work with. Thank you for your excellent service.
