The oaks go above and beyond.
Very welcoming reception staff, vets and nurses are simply amazing, they genuinely care about their patients. The place is spotlessly clean and I've never had a bad visit, and I'm there alot! Compared with other vets I think the prices are very fair. The vet will always offer as many options as possible in an effort to accommodate the client but always keeps the best interest of the animal as a priority. I'd give more than 5 stars if possible.
Avoid at all cost if you care about your precious pets!!!
I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the inadequate care and unprofessional conduct our kitten received at your clinic on May 16th, 17th, and 20th, which tragically led to our kitten's untimely death.Despite our meticulous efforts to ensure our kitten received all necessary treatments, including vaccinations, injections, and neutering, from your surgery, the care provided during this critical period was shockingly substandard.
Mr. Maidment's « Sam » negligence was deeply troubling. He failed to administer the necessary medication to our kitten on two separate occasions and neglected to prioritize immediate treatment, merely scheduling follow-up appointments.
By May 20th, our kitten's condition had significantly worsened under his care.
Mrs. Rowe's conduct was equally appalling. Without even examining our kitten, she baselessly accused us of neglect and demanded £800 for unnecessary treatment. She further demanded an outrageous £15,000 for another treatment, threatening to involve animal welfare if we didn't comply.
Her actions were clearly driven by financial gain rather than genuine concern for our kitten's welfare. Moreover, Mrs. Rowe's propensity for fabricating falsehoods and falsifying records to cover up the inadequacies and incompetence of her newly trained veterinary staff is deeply troubling.
Furthermore, Mrs. Rowe made baseless claims about our kitten's health status without conducting any blood tests, suggesting COVID-19 or other serious viruses.
After our kitten's euthanasia, she insensitively remarked that even the NHS couldn't have achieved a better outcome.
This delay in care, exacerbated by her preoccupation with other patients and focus on contacting our insurer, was utterly inexcusable.
The lack of accountability and empathy demonstrated by both Mr. Maidment and Mrs. Rowe is utterly unacceptable. Mr. Maidment abandoned our kitten without providing adequate care, while Mrs. Rowe's actions were driven by financial considerations and classist attitudes.
Mr. Maidment's irrelevant inquiry about whether our kitten was purchased abroad further highlighted their prejudiced approach.
We have initiated contact with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and an investigation has been launched into the conduct of Mr. Maidment "Sam" and Mrs. Rowe regarding their alleged neglect and inadequate care of an animal.
In conclusion, if the well-being of your beloved pet holds any significance to you, I strongly advise avoiding this establishment.
DO NOT USE!
I took my 9yr old dog to be put to sleep because of various health issues. I thought this would be a quick and peaceful experience, which it certainly wasn't.
The vet could not get the line into her veins, she had 4 legs shaved, trying to find a vein.. yet he still failed! He had to give her an injection of sedative instead. This took longer to take affect so obviously was a lot more traumatic for myself and my dog. I stayed the whole time, which was close to an hour from start until the end. I was left on my own at times with my dog, while waiting on the sedative taking affect.
This was my first experience with any pet, having to witness that was an experience I will never forget.
I had to ask for hanky because I hadn't been offered one, where is the empathy in this practice!
Absolutely disgusted with the whole Experience.
I am traumatised and feel completely disgusted in the way my dogs last moments were.
I physically felt ill on leaving the practice and my dog behind.
I would never wish that on anyone.
This practice used to be very good but…
This practice used to be very good but unfortunately they have increased their vaccination prices to £72 and this is not what I have found with other vets the area. When I decided to take some of my pets away from this practice I was phoned and told all my pets were to go too. I think this is absolutely disgusting after being such a good customer. I would not advise this vet practice to anyone
rebecca,s attetude is callous only…
rebecca,s attetude is callous only interested in the money, this vets was really careing when mr,sloane was there but she is very rude in her comments
Disgusted at the lack of compassion
We have used oaks vets for over 20 years, it hasnt always been perfect some experiences have left us a little concerned but overall not too bad, until yesterday, when my elderly parents 11 year labrador collapsed and was struggling to breath, a family member phoning the vets was just told theres nothing we can do bring her in, there was no way a vet could come out, they offerred no alternative numbers or solutions. We had to lift molly into the car and by the time we had made the 5 minute journey she had passed away. We are disgusted, when i came into the surgery to express my disgust we were told well sorry but we only ha e 1 vet on and we have emergencies, this was also an emergency. I explained you offered no alternative on the phone no sympathy and now my parents family dog is sat in the boot of the car. After 20 minutes or so we went and asked if they were going to have molly in the surgery to be told they couldnt yet, as they couldnt leave the desk. So poor molly had to sit in the boot of the car with my elderly parents. We offerred to carry her in but no that wasnt allowed either. We decided to contact Willow vets who were sympathetic, kind and understanding and agreed for us to take Molly there where she would be treated with compassion.
I will never use this vetinary surgery again and i will never recommend this surgery again. The compassion and care is no longer there.
absolutley shocking
absolutley shocking, I joined the pet health club and payment was due i changed bank details, I contacted them to try and make payment via card however they told me the vets deal with it, I contacted oaks vets in saltcoats to make payment and they said it wasn't them that dealt with it, anyway long story short the polcy was cancelled, they sent it to a debt company £100 i think it was, this company made it to £350 or something like that while paid off, fast forward quite a while trying to book an appointment to get my cats nails cut they want the fee upfront... anything for that matter, penalising me for their incompetence, absolutely disgraceful, also if anything were to happen to him they would want me to pay for treatment upfront ( I have pet plan for life) £28 a month, terrible practice in terms the way they treat you for their mistakes... can see why they have so many appointments available

Caring & Compassionate Staff
Sadly we had to make the decision to get our Cocker Spaniel Daisy put to sleep earlier today, Heartbroken to have to make this call but the Veterinarian John and the nurses who assisted could not have been more caring or helpful, Overall a really, really bad day but made slightly better by the care and compassion shown by John and his staff 💔💔💔👍
Amazing professional vets with a team…
Amazing professional vets with a team who really care and support animals. Been with them for over 8 years and wouldn't go anywhere else.
We have been using oaks for over 25…
We have been using oaks for over 25 years with various pets but I feel for what ever reasons money seems to be the driving factor in their priorities in recent times. I realise my experience is relevant to me only however my beautiful pup has just successfully beaten cancer after 20 weeks of chemo . Not one single word of how is she ? how did the chemo go ? Is still still alive ? We spent as you can imagine thousands of pounds on this treatment. But I found it a bit crass no
Heartless .To be receive a phone call chasing me up for £24 on an outstanding bill without any interest in how my dog was. What price compassion eh.
My dog passed away on the 16th of May…
My dog passed away on the 16th of May 2023 and we took her to Oak vets. We didn't want her ashes in the house as its far to heartbreaking for us. So they said we could get them scattered at the pet cemetery in Livingston and said we could visit her which we agreed. So they took the money of us!!! I then contacted the pet cemetery to ask if we could lay down a memorial plaque where my dogs ashes were scattered to only be told "We don't scatter ashes here, they will be at a site near cambridge"
Imagine a vets saying this to a family who are absolutely heartbroken.
So anyone who's been promised what we have you've been fooled.
All we got from the manager at the vets for "We're terribly sorry, we were led to believe they were scattered in Livingston" absolute lies! Tryna cover their own arses!
We won't let this go.
I highly recommend using the Oaks Veterinary Centre
I highly recommend using the Oaks Veterinary Centre. All of the vets and staff are lovely but Rebecca has been amazing. She has been so lovely with my kitten Loki who needed his nostrils widened and Rebecca researched the whole operation as she had not done this on a cat so small. The operation was a real success and they have supported us all the way through giving us brilliant advice on aftercare.
We found Rebecca very professional and helpful.

Was with this vet for some years
Was with this vet for some years, but all the ‘competent’ vets left and we were stuck with Rebecca, who isn’t really a ‘peoples person’. Whilst I don’t doubt Rebecca knows her stuff; she quite rude and rather blunt. It’s not very nice when your pet is sick, to deal with a vet who’s stressed, rude, and not willing to listen. The lack of understanding and patience can do with improvement in my opinion. We decided to leave because of the stress levels at this vet and because of Rebecca’s attitude. But, each to his own!
Worst vet in Ayrshire
Got to be the worst vets in Ayrshire, couldn't care less about the animal. I've took 1 of my dogs there before and they wouldn't see her because unless money was upfront before they even looked at her (they seen her face was way out) and still they didn't. They where also prepared to let my mums cat die who took a really bad seizure, we ended up taking her to ivybank and they seen them both straight away. Just goes to show you.
My friend is registered through them and what she's told me how they won't treat her dog till she gets the massive sum for a op and they won't even let her do a payment plan or nothing that's not caring about the animals welfare thats cruel
Delt with Rebecca for end of life care…
Delt with Rebecca for end of life care for our elderly cat. She was very reassuring wanted my 15 year old daughter to witness even though I was not sure but it was actually the best thing as she saw her go peacefully. Reassured us we were making the right decision.
Absolutely a shambles of a place…
Absolutely a shambles of a place Rebecca is very rude .....I would not recommend this vets to anyone ....it's a joke!!!! I should of read all the other reviews before going to them DONT USE THEM!!!!
Could not recommend enough-5*
We have been using the oaks for a number of years now, recommended by a rescue centre.
We travel over 1 hour each way to visit the oaks because they have been so supportive and good with the care of our rabbits.
If I have had to go to different out of Hours vets, closer to home urgently, I never feel confident or reassured as I do when we visit the oaks.
We have only ever had contact with Rebecca for our rabbits and I really appreciate her direct approach. She is professional and honest about what your pet needs and always has your pets best interests at heart.
She is always upfront and honest about price, why your pet may be unwell, what treatment they need, and she explains everything very clearly which always puts my mind at ease.
I do not feel she is rude or harsh at all as some comments suggest, I feel she is direct and doesn’t sugar coat what she says, which is the approach I need when it comes to my pets.
I really could not recommend the oaks enough, especially if you have a rabbit.
Great vets
I have used this fir all my dogs for about 5 yr I have had no issues I will only see Rebecca as see tells it as it is no pussy footing around which I like i fully recommended this vet . She owns animals and only advices whats best for the animal
Awful
Awful! Most of staff are friendly but left due to Rebecca. This vet needs to learn some social skills or just how to speak to people. Very rude and uncaring.
Now changed vets & MUCH happier
cctv needed in vet consultation rooms
cctv in vet consultation rooms, this sure will encourage vets like Rebecca to follow rules and not cause significant stress to clients, misleading them; lying to them about what they can or can not do. Cameras create evidence and allow RVC or Police to view misconduct from vets who deny this, take licenses off where necessary, those certain vets are taking advantage of Clients.Naming Rebecca, This woman blocked me on email for making a complaint.she was being rudem her secretary Michelle ordered me to ring in explained my phone is in for repairs. Michelle again ordered me to buy a new phone. she undermined me.See told me I will not be getting my Medical notes If I was abusive,Emailed back told her Do not lie to me, I have been throug this before and obtained my medical records for pets for the last 10 years, I know my rights. she behaved immature, mini me of Rebecca.I was rude back told Minnie that both need more training, Learn to listen to Clients concerns or complaints raised through email.Rebecca should retire; she is emotionally unstable; stiff necked. I requested medical records that Rebecca is obliged to hand over via email within 20, I had strong negative energy from her rude reponses, She was not responding to my complaint accused me of having a none genuine complaint. that vet is unfair witch barely gave me a chance This woman will be getting no respect from me. I will be sure to tell trading standards about poor service and misconduct. Not allowed to block clients during a complaint protocol. This woman does not deserve to be a vet if all that has been done during the majority of her career is encouraging clients to sign papers and murderpeoples pet,or tricking you what suits her and is less time consuming for Rebecca.
