Very disappointed with my experience with NYIAD Landscape Design. Keep in mind that if you pay in full, you will not receive the full coursework until you complete specific units. I stopped at Unit 2 because the quiz marked me wrong on answers I answered correctly, my final straw was unit 2 project requiring items not taught in the coursework. They suggested using Lowes.com to learn more about hardscaping. Why did I pay money to learn from a retail store I could use for free? Total waste of my time and money.

Good information on how to design, draft, and decorate interior spaces. Good on the how to set up a business in this field. Trying to get help online felt impossible nobody seemed to want to help. The teacher always tore me down but gave me an “A” but sometimes she would fail me yet only grade me on one room. Very unorganized had to wait awhile for them to grade my work. Too much money. Aggravated.

Helloo, I’m Nina! I just joined NYIAD today on 06-22-2023!! The course I’m taking is “HOME STAGING”. I can say that this school is legit and it is pretty much accredited. I like how everything is at ur own pace. Everything is easy to use. Very organized! So far I’ve had no issues.

I did their “interior design” program. Which in reality in the end is told, you will be an interior decorator at most. So no real chances of getting areal job in the end, unless you open your own people and start scamming people that you actually know something. I don’t recommend it in hopes of getting any design job in the end, unless it’s just for yourself to decorate you house.

Excellent walk around the gallery. Great little coffee house in the top floor.

So, I've been searching for a good school, and I thought NYIAD was a "perfect" fit. Well, I came out disappointed. While they do have a good curriculum, my Home Staging instructor ("Janet Ramin") was the least bit helpful on answering a very important question. Neither did she have ANY knowledge on my question: "do I need to stage a business or design it the way I like it?" - very simple. She said she had no knowledge on that type of business - however, she did tell me that this curriculum was about staging a home for sale. But she did NOT provide me with any information on someone from the school who COULD help me. I found her answer to be very dismissive and quite ignorant. That did NOT make me want to pursue any kind of home staging certificate, even though, I only have two more payments to make on my account; which is why I found this experience to be VERY disappointing. No fun. I give the school "2 stars," although I'm not even sure if they deserve THAT? :/

It's becoming a small nightmare. Seriously. I've paid for my course (in full) up front. Big Mistake. Submitting assignments sometimes has gone from a 2 week to 30 day wait to move from point A to point B. Just grade the dang paper. My communication with my instructor is through the class portal but I have open communication with an instructor who is also referred to as a student adviser. My instructor refers me to a student adviser who might be young enough to be my grand child. Not relevant if she's qualified to do the job. Limiting my communication even e-mails to regular work hours for the school is okay even though they respond when they get good and ready. HOWEVER, giving feed back on an old assignment that's been resubmitted 3 times is like pulling your work from high school to evaluate a college report. Are they so busy that they can't look at the dates of submission, the name on the paper or even note that they reviewed the assignment a month ago? It's sickening. Getting feed back on an assignment I submitted 30 days prior and wrote the word "Draft" in big bold letters should not be confused with the submitted, and corrected and properly dated assignment. What a joke. Do they know what they are doing or is someone hired to open and answer e-mails at random. God forbid if you're open to a telephone dialogue where the person has to have the last word, the most words and unmistakable the wrong words. I can still recall "you are not my only student" It flashes in my memory like a disgruntled child who wants the red balloon and not the yellow one. NYIAD real reviews should make you cringe or run quickly in another direction. Patiently I waited for the "student adviser" to provide feed back on my next project and I got the same feedback three times on the same project. Ultimately 1/2 step forward and two steps back. Question the qualifications of these "student advisers" instructors.!!! Look at the errors in the lessons even typographical errors. Oh my gosh and can't they even spell your name right, it's on the check? I DO NOT RECOMMEND NYIAD Even if the course was free. It's not worth the headache of trying to review the student adviser's work with a real professional. I've asked professionals in the field to look at the reviews by the student advisers. Once is a critique. twice is a possible error. When you're reviewing the same document for the third time instead of the revised documents you are either overwhelmed or you just don't know what you are doing. Does she?

I’m almost done with my Graphic Design course and would like to say that for me It’s been not only an educational but also a very enjoyable experience.
Course is self-paced. Modules are split into small and easily digestible text units most of which are accompanied with content-equivalent subtitled videos.
Course taught me not only two main adobe application tools from the elementary through to the advanced level, but also improved my understanding of design and enhanced my creativity.
I’m very grateful to my instructor Barbra DiLorenzo. She’s been very helpful and encouraging. Thanks to her I feel much more confident about my design skills.
In addition, I think that the course is quite affordable considering that it’s from an accredited college, the amount of material it covers and most importantly, you receive a professional feedback for every project you create.
One consideration: I didn’t rely solely on course materials. Youtube tutorials helped me to further explore topics covered by the course.
And finally, sorry if my review contains some grammatical and stylistic errors, English isn’t my first language.

I was so excited to start learning AutoCAD but was quickly let down. There is basically no one teaching you except for the book (the only instructor videos are in the first section- they were actually very helpful and I heavily relied on them because I'm a visual learner) The book taught 2017 AutoCAD, but why would I want to learn such a dated version of an extremely involved program(2017 wasn't even available to download) ? I had already purchased the class so I went with 2020 AutoCAD. In the end, I would never recommend this course. Waste of my time and money. I'm sure NYIAD's other courses are fine

I am waiting on the grading of my final, but I have to say, I really enjoyed the interior design course. It isn't constantly updating, so some information is out of date, like a "one to watch" section they listed several designers that were lime-lighted when the course was created, but several of the web addresses have gone dead. But the depth of information is huge, especially how to turn interior designing into its own business. I am so glad I purchased the course in print so I can always turn back to them when I grow into owning a business side of interior designing. As far as mentors, I have always received an answer to any question I had. It doesn't feel particularly personal, but then again, I wasn't chatting or emailing that often, so I anticipated as much. The course gives you 18 months to complete, with the option of extending. If I'd only focused on the course I definitely would have finished in 6 months, the wait time on mailed in packets was killer. However, a lot of the project submissions have moved to online submissions because of COVID-19 and, yeah, that shift was AWESOME!! So quick. I love the materials the course provides, and have a huge love for hand-drafting interiors now. I can make them look so beautiful, accurate, and professional so easily. In all honestly, I love it so much I could get a job as a drafter for the next few years and feel like I got my dream job.
Since I haven't taken any other course I don't know how it compares, but I feel like it was well worth the money and time. If this is a closet passion of yours, take the plunge! It is a really good course.

While I enjoyed the first few lessons, the course quickly went downhill from there. The slides, information, and assignments started to become vaguer and vaguer. I understand that they want us to use our brain and come up with creative answers but that becomes difficult when the information needed to help make the answers better is not present.

For example, there was a question that was missing a complete section of the problem, like they forgot to put it in there. ("When Mrs. Davidson enters your office with her daughter Sheri to discuss planning a bat mitzvah, you immediately like them both. As you ask Mrs. Davidson questions about the event she’s envisioning, she seems to dance around your questions.

Her responses “something fun, something colorful” don’t give you much information to work from. However, after 20 minutes, she informs you that she wants the affair to be a formal sit-down luncheon.

You, however, aren’t quite so thrilled, because you know that many venues are not going to want a live monkey running around their facilities! Mrs. Davidson assures you that the monkey is “well-trained and adorable.” You bring up your concerns by stating that the presence of the animal will greatly reduce your choice of venues, but Mrs. Davidson is not discouraged one bit, saying, “Then we’ll just have to find a place that loves animals.”)

The course also makes the assumption that you're starting your own business which is not the case for most people taking the course/

The mentor/professor keeps telling me to use a template for certain things yet doesn't provide one to use. There are assignments that you need to complete that are about things that were never covered in the first place.
If they want us to learn to do it the right way then they should provide resources (i.e. blank templates, full examples of a detailed timeline, etc.) for us to use.

There are a ton of simple grammatical and spelling errors littered throughout the course and many of the link provided throughout either no longer work or the company it links to has changed and is doing something different from what they originally were doing.

Do your research when it comes to taking an event planning course.

This is Gloria from Hong Kong. I'm a new Jewelry design student here. I've been considered to take the online course a long time and finally, I enrolled NYIAD. Here's absolutely amazing online course more than I think. The interactive, connection, and stability with the school, tutor and smoothing procedure to step by step to the test and project. Every unit we could receive the new material for the project and learn some new skill with a flexible schedule. That's really awesome. Now on, I considered to enroll more design course and improve myself more. If NYIAD could turning to an online degree will be much better.

If you or your kids have some creativity in designing then you must visit this school. In order to polish your skills, the environment of this school is awesome. You will always find updated information here.

I enjoy the Interior Design course, it takes you step by step through each unit.

The one that I don’t like is when you send a project back, sometimes the comments are not clear in what the instructor wants you to change. That’s where class room courses have an advantage.

I like the way you teach. It's easy to understand .

I am very happy with the CAD course I am taking through NYIAD. My wife and I have hectic schedules, we both work minimum full time, we are new parents, and both have many friend and family obligations each year. Time is gold to us! I haven't been able to log in as regularly as I like, but I have set aside large dedicated blocks of time for this class. Though this method is not ideal, as the course is self paced, I have still been able to accomplish a third of it in 10 or so sittings.
The course is book based, which is not the greatest for CAD, however, for the price and flexibility of the course, it’s WELL WORTH IT!
To anyone who wants to work in CAD or wants to get their certification in it, I would recommend this course. Two thumbs up from me. 👍🏼👍🏼
