Congratulations to the team at Northern Powergrid for getting our electric reconnected over night after Storm Eowyn. We can see from the NPG interactive map that their teams are incredibly busy but for us their performance and method of communication has been so better than after Storm Arwen. Thank you to all involved.
Egregious Apathy, Incompetence, and Complete Ignorance of Customer Complaints, there are no words that truly describes the disappointment.
I honestly don’t know where to start…
I've been in contact with Northern Powergrid multiple times regarding an ongoing issue with frequent power outages, but despite my repeated attempts (around 8 emails since their last response), l've received no meaningful response or resolution.
My concerns have been completely ignored, and the “apology” I received, if you can call it that felt insincere at best.
It's been extremely frustrating to deal with such a lack of accountability. Not only have they failed to address the issue or offer any proper solutions, but their silence on the matter has had a serious negative impact on my mental health.
The lack of response has left me feeling as though my concerns don't matter, and frankly, it's disheartening.
When I've asked for clarity, compensation, or direction on how to escalate my complaint, I've either received vague or no responses.
This ongoing disregard for customer concerns is not just unprofessional; it's damaging to those affected by their service.
I even contacted the complaints department and not once have I had an email from them to even acknowledge the complaint.
I've been patient for far too long, but at this point, I'm being forced to write this review hoping it’s taken seriously.
If they truly cared about their customers, they would be responsive, take responsibility, and resolve complaints promptly.
If you value your time, peace of mind, and expect any form of accountability from a company, I highly recommend avoid contacting Northern Powergrid.
They have failed to meet even the most basic standards of customer service, and I am thoroughly disappointed.
Northern Powergrid's blatant disregard for their customers is nothing short of disgraceful.
They've shown zero accountability, zero urgency, and their complete failure to resolve this issue proves they couldn't care less about me and or others looking at similar reviews.
This company is a joke, and I wouldn't trust them to change or let alone hold a lightbulb.
I really am unsure as to where to go from here to take it further, but i'll continue to voice my frustration until this is addressed.
EXCELLENT RESPONSE
Thank you Northern Powergrid for excellent service today. Our power went off shortly before 5 am. Reporting the power cut was very easy to do. Initially told it would hopefully be sorted by 6.30 am. I felt this was optimistic, so not surprised to be told more likely to be noon. However, a few minutes ago (approximately 7.20 am), power was restored. Particularly impressed as the weather conditions are so challenging currently. We are very happy.
Excellent service very professional with great communication
Our electricity went off at 12.00pm 31st December. After ringing up immediately the response from them was amazing they came out straight away. The engineers worked tirelessly through high winds and in the dark having to replace broken cables, replace electricity posts damaged over time and connected us at 23.45 to see in the New Year. Today 1st January Electricity went off again at 13.00 and came back on 20.30. Would like to thank the gentleman who came to our door with hot water to have a hot drink and cheered our 2yr old grandaughter up. The telephone calls keeping us updated and asking if we needed anything were very much appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work.

Contacted Powergrid and was immediately reassured by Simon who helped me through my anxieties. He kept me informed of the situation and finally phoned me back when the power was back on to see if we were ok. I don’t know what I would have done without him, he was a star. Thankyou so much.

Came home to no electricity power called 105 who advised people on the job already, they were drilling for a hour or so then I got electricity. Well done workers for sorting it quickly.

Great service! We lost power on Saturday afternoon with Storm Darraugh. Forecast was that we wouldn't be connected until Monday night. However, they were out here by 5 pm on a Sunday and had us connected back quite soon. So grateful! The house was getting freezing, and we couldn't buy any more batteries for the torches as it was a Sunday. Thank you so much!

After having a power outage in our village for over 26 hours, we were pretty angry . No way to receive updates as digital phones out & obviously no wifi & mobiles battery's dead. Northern power grid sent out a neighbourhood help & info team to help priority individuals & neighbours etc , the two ladies , one called Kerry &her colleague who's name we didnt get , were fantastic . Offered as much help as they could & reassured households that things were being sorted asap . Gave out what help they could ie hot drinks , charged phones up & gave out lights , blankets if needed & power banks for phones. As fed up as people were you couldn’t help but feel these people did as much as possible to help & thsts all you can ask for when the weather is causing delay to repairs . Thanks from yo25 area
Movement of overhead power cables
In short - we contacted Northern Powergrid about moving overhead power cables so we could do some building work in Feb 23, it’s now Dec 24, this has still not been done and there is no date planned for it. Their customer service and ways of working are appalling.

here we go again thur 21st nov 23.17pm another powercut..in our street . myself and other neighbours are sick to death of this on our estate.i am still waiting for someone to call me about my complaint from the last power cut.instead npg rang me asking for someone who lives in the st but not their mob number.got an apology i was advised they wd remove my tel number from that door number.and guess what days later anothet call for same lady who does not live at this number. so i sent an email to complaints and have not had a reply.probably because i asked to be compensated for the amount of power cuts we have had so far this yr.i am on the priority reg.but was left with no way of contacting anyone as my battery died as the power was off so long.i have never in my 63 yrs known so many power cuts in one street or estate..this is just beyond a joke now especially in this freezing cold weather.its only its only 5days since the power was off round the back of my house and neighbours are absolutely and totally fed up.
Outage today in the snow, great response for NPG
We had an outage today in Heeley, Sheffield, on one of the coldest days of the year. Northern PowerGrid sent regular useful text messages to keep us updated and sent a food truck to give free hot meals to local residents without power.
I would not normally write a review for an energy company like this but I was extremely impressed with their response to the problem and the hot food definitely improved the situation while the technicians undertook their repairs.

Thank you Northern Power Grid for excellent customer support regarding a necessary maintenance power cut in our area, near Burnopfield.
Right through from speaking to a customer support representative to the engineers we felt very well looked after. Everything went as planned and staff were courteous and understanding. Thank you Northern Power Grid.
Absolutely shockingly poor customer…
Absolutely shockingly poor customer service/complaints procedure. Dug up our front yard when neighbours power went off. Damaged house, took out telephone landline and damaged brand new installed and painted concrete fence posts/gravel boards. Have been constantly chasing them for over 3 weeks for updates, what is going to happen etc. Sent photos and still they are not getting back to me. Admit they are liable but blaming contractors.

NP don't care about the opinions of their customers on here, why? Ans: because they think we have no choice or voice.
Continuation of the complaint - no change in Northern Power Grids response to their poor customer service and inability to carry out maintenance tasks.
It is up to Northern Power grid to respond on here, to me via email or phone as well as through the ombudsman service. This lack of customer service is one of the issues that have been logged with the ombudsman.
Unbelievable poor service!!

Regular power outages
I rang and complained re constant power outages in village near Durham where I live. Got an inane and blasé letter basically saying that’s just how it is….As another commentator (Stephen) says indifferent and greedy, making large sums of money for a very mediocre service
Salesman that know their product.
Kyle the salesman that came and explained to us the benefits of owning a system that could generate savings and also possibly create some extra money. Very good presentation.
