I’m no stranger to cast iron pans and thought I’d treat us to a spun iron prospector. Oh how wrong I was.
It arrived and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with how light and cheap it felt. The handles in particular reminded me of the rubbish camping cookware I had. The list of instructions and disclaimers attached also didn’t instill confidence: TLDR: if anything is bad about this pan it’s YOUR fault for being stupid and not knowing how to cook. I’d be interested to know if anyone at NF actually cook with their own product because I have a feeling they don’t.
Despite following all instructions it warped into a bowl on the first use. By the second use, even after oiling the hell out of it, every single thing stuck.
Worst pan I’ve ever wasted my money on. Just buy Le creuset and Salter. You don’t get any cr*p from them unlike this belligerent bunch of charlatans.
Great products with great customer…
Great products with great customer service.
Brilliant casserole and frying pans
I bought a lidded casserole and later a small frying pan. Both are absolutely brilliant. They don't need as much care as you might expect. They heat up really quickly and transfer the heat to whatever you are cooking really well. They have made our collection of Le Creuset redundant except for the biggest casseroles. I suspect people who don't like them just don't really understand the product.
Worst pans and terrible customer service
Read a review in the Guardian to say how great these pans were. Worst pan I have ever owned. Tried to use twice and everything stuck to the bottom of the pan. Totally useless. Tried contacting customer service to see if I was doing something wrong and received a very unhelpful reply. Would not recommend.
Shockingly Bad Product, Misleading Marketing & Hostile Customer Service
This is without question one of the worst purchases I’ve made. I bought a pan from Netherton Foundry based on their bold claims that it is “naturally non-stick” and “easy to clean.” Those claims are, in my experience, completely misleading. From the very first use, food welded itself to the surface, and cleaning the pan was far harder than with any cast iron pan I’ve ever used. It performed worse than cheap alternatives, despite the premium price.
The product alone was bad enough, but the customer service was appalling. I contacted the company to arrange a return and dealt with Sue, whose attitude was defensive, dismissive, and entirely uninterested in resolving the issue. Rather than acknowledging the obvious failure of the product, I was told to return the pan for their own internal testing. I had no faith whatsoever in an assessment carried out by the same company that sold and marketed the pan in the first place.
When I reasonably suggested using an independent third-party assessor instead, Sue became uncooperative and clearly unhappy that I wouldn’t simply accept their version of events. No compromise was offered, no goodwill shown, and no genuine attempt was made to resolve the dispute. Communication then deteriorated to the point where I was effectively stonewalled.
As a result, I’ve had no choice but to initiate a chargeback through my bank, as the company appears unwilling to engage constructively or take responsibility when their product fails to meet its advertised claims.
After this ordeal, I looked at Trustpilot and found a significant number of 1-star reviews describing the same issues: pans that are not non-stick, customers being blamed for product failures, and aggressive or obstructive customer service when problems arise. This suggests a clear pattern rather than an isolated incident.
In summary:
• Grossly overhyped product
• Claims that do not reflect real-world performance
• Rigid, hostile customer service
• Zero accountability
I would strongly advise anyone considering buying from Netherton Foundry to read the 1-star reviews first and think very carefully. Had I done so, I would have saved myself time, money, and frustration. I will never purchase from this company again.
ReviewConsidering Netherton Foundry - A Reluctant Pause
Review: Considering Netherton Foundry - A Reluctant Pause
As someone who values quality, British-made kitchenware, Netherton Foundry's spun iron products initially caught my eye. The idea of a traditional, durable tortilla press, crafted with care, is very appealing. The positive reviews often highlight the excellent build and the potential for these items to last a lifetime, which is precisely what I look for in kitchen investments.
However, after delving deeper, I've come across some reviews that give me significant pause. Specifically, the experience of a customer whose pan "turned ugly" after minimal use and subsequently felt ignored by the company is quite concerning. While I understand that spun iron, like cast iron, requires specific care and that its appearance will evolve with seasoning, a customer's feeling of being unacknowledged after reaching out for support is a serious deterrent.
Investing in a product like this isn't just about the item itself, but also about the confidence in the brand's support should any issues arise, especially given the unique care requirements of spun iron. The thought of encountering a problem and then facing a lack of communication from the manufacturer makes me hesitant to proceed with a purchase, despite the otherwise promising aspects of their products.
Ultimately, while the craftsmanship and "Made in Britain" aspect are strong draws, the reported issues with customer communication are a significant red flag that has, unfortunately, put me off buying from Netherton Foundry for now.
First class customer service
Lovely, well made products. Excellent customer service. Quick delivery and immediate response to email queries. Thoroughly recommend.
Don't trust this company
Don't trust this company. Bought a 26cm Frying pan claimed to be non stick. It is not! Contacted them about this and was given instructions on how to cook an egg! I have worked in catering... Customer service started shouting at my wife and then laughing. Decided to return it. They then demanded extra money for re-seasoning? Had to go to Visa to get money back. Nightmare don't touch them.
Poor quality tinned copper pan
I bought a 28cm tinned copper pan from this company. It is really thin and light, and I am not convinced it is heavy duty as advertised. I understand tin has a low melting point and so I have been cooking the food very gently. I didn't heat the pan empty, and used only low heat, always with wooden spatula. But there were scratches everywhere after using it only twice.
Excellent quality, excellent service - as always.
Excellent service. Bought a hot coals lid and a 'Life' spatula for use on cast iron pans. They were made to order, perfectly packed and came with a recipe booklet so I'm very pleased.

Fantastic products and even better customer service! Well done Netherton 👏
High quality pans and cookware very…
High quality pans and cookware very well engineered to a high specification. A lot of passion behind this company and their finish and quality is outstanding. I have a pan that's lasted years.
Looking forward to visiting the factory after talking to customer service. Very knowledgeable about care of pans.
prospector pan
my prospector pan is brilliant. it needs to be treated as per the instruction, but once you get the hang of it it's the most amazing hob to oven pan.
the company are really helpful and answered my queries swiftly.
definitely a pan for life.
Simply the best
Simply the best. The cook’s pan. Hand made in the UK. If it’s loved by Nigel Slater, Nigella Lawson right down to a much less stellar, me, then you are in safe hands.
And, lovely, helpful people.
Great company and products
I’ve owned a skillet and steak press for years. They’re super hard wearing and whenever I’ve needed help or advice the team at Netherton have got back to me the same day. I recently sent my skillet back for re-seasoning and I thought they’d sent me a brand new one. You do need to read the instructions, no soap, don’t heat too fast and keep seasoned. I’ve used them in the kitchen, on the bbq and over fires without any difficulty.
I love my trusty Netherton frying pan
I love my trusty Netherton frying pan. It's used almost daily. The beautiful, traditional craft work should be cherished in this age of throwaway mass production. I bought one for my brother and he also loves his pan. A pan from Netherton does need to be looked after and nurtured. Do that and you have a pan for life.
Love these pans.
I have a couple of prospector pans and the loaf Tins. Solid well made and brilliant in the bbq. Love this company and will be looking to get an oven tray next again for the bbq.
Loaf tins
Love the loaf tins! I originally bought two for myself, then two more, then more as gifts. These are items of beauty as well as for everyday use, and I now bake pretty much all of the family bread in them. I’ve re-seasoned my sets two or three times, and all remains good. I suspect these tins will be passed down the generations. Much recommended.
Superb product
Superb product, (steak press) but even better people.
A war horse in the kitchen. Works a dream
Have had a frying panic for a few years now and it's used several times a week. Great on a gas hob and can go straight in the oven . (Recently crisped up pork crackling on the hob then straight in the oven with the roast potatoes. Perfectly cooked). When looked after correctly they work a dream. No washing up liquid please!! So good I bought my kids one each when they got their own homes. Great British product!!
