Disappointing experience – far more admin than expected

We signed up with Nannytax because, as first-time nanny employers, we wanted the reassurance of having experts manage the payroll and employment side properly. Unfortunately, the experience has been much more frustrating and administratively heavy than I expected.

From the start, there was a lot of back and forth around getting our contract set up correctly. Our arrangement was based on a minimum of 50 hours per month, with additional hours paid on top, but getting the contract and holiday entitlement to properly reflect our working arrangement required several conversations and amendments.

One of my biggest frustrations is holiday management. There is no proper facility within the Nannytax portal to log and keep track of the actual holiday dates our nanny has taken. This means that, despite paying for a specialist nanny employment service, we still have to maintain our own separate holiday record outside their system. When there were questions around accrued versus taken holiday, this created even more back and forth to reconcile everything manually.

I also expected Nannytax to make things such as payroll, HMRC payments and using Tax-Free Childcare straightforward. Instead, I have regularly found myself having to research things separately or ask additional questions to understand exactly what I need to do.

The individual staff members I have dealt with have been polite, so my criticism isn’t aimed at them personally. The issue is the overall service and system. For the amount being charged, I expected clearer guidance, better functionality and significantly less administration on my side.

The whole reason for using a specialist nanny payroll company was to make employing a nanny simpler and give us confidence that everything was being handled correctly. Unfortunately, so far it has often felt like the opposite.

Based on my experience, I’m disappointed and wouldn’t currently recommend Nannytax to another first-time nanny employer.

Nannytax/Stafftax have been an exemplary service provider for my family, helping navigate employing a carer, dealing with queries about maternity leave, redundancy as well as managing the routine payroll and tax process. I have found it incredibly easy to access friendly, responsive and expert advice - far exceeding my expectations. Special mention to Victoria Thorpe (and colleagues) who has been really impressive to deal with.

NANNYTAX is simply the most efficient, friendly and straightforward payroll provider we have dealt with in the UK! Special mention to Honey Figg, who went above and beyond assisting me today! Their service is excellent! Their staff is well trained and the customer service experience will surely be positive!

It took so many times to be able to enter information with an obscured pop up i could not remove.

Somewhat easy to renew my nanny employer liability insurance. Could make it even better with quick renew buttons in the email etc.

Institutionally Incompetent.
We have had a catalogue of errors from Nanny Tax since we first went with them. let me give you a list.
1 Misallocated a tax code, claiming HMRC had provided it to them When our nanny checked this is was proved Nanny tax had provided an incorrect code.
2 They have regular issues with Payslips which contain different figures from those originally entered.- this issue repeats monthly
3 For the last few months, thier system has been broken, preventing cross-checking of the data provided to thier system. - This issue repeats monthly
4 On calling thier staff, it often takes quite a while to extract the data referred to in issue 3 - again this issue repeats monthly

Very easy to renew.

Nannytax are a brilliant company. Their staff are so helpful, knowledgeable & patient.

They're fantastic communicators, both to clients and between their various departments.

I've used Nannytax for almost three years now with multiple nannies, and they have always been extremely responsive and helpful with any issue. I highly recommend their service.

The service they provided is like a self service platform, employer has to fill in all the employment information manage the employees themselves. It took me so many calls to set up my employee on their portal. Any change of employment conditions the employer would have to do it themselves. If you would like self service platform then choose them others, better to avoid.
