Ho noleggiato per 3 giorni una piccola macchina in aeroporto a Cagliari e poche ore dopo percorrendo una strada statale sono stato tamponato da un signore anziano che non si era accorto di nulla. Ho chiamato i carabinieri e mi sono messo in contatto con la filiale in aeroporto, che mi ricordava di documentare l'incidente e di compilare il cai. Peccato che il cai non fosse presente tra i documenti della macchina. Al termine del terzo giorno ho riconsegnato l'auto in aeroporto e ho pagato di tasca propria il danno causato dal tamponamento..950 Euro. Fino a quel momento non ero ancora in possesso del cai, che però ho ottenuto dopo averlo chiesto e compilato con tutti i dati di cui ero a disposizione pensando di poterlo riconsegnare anche con delle informazioni parziali. Risultato: non era possibile, perché il solo nome, cognome, la data di nascita e il numero di targa della controparte non erano sufficienti. Mi servivano anche gli altri dati relativi all'assicurazione, mi spiegava la signora in servizio quella sera. Non potendo più fare nulla quel giorno, ho lasciato l'aeroporto con l'impegno di recuperare i dati mancanti e di inviare il cai per e-mail in un secondo momento. Da quando poi sono finalmente riuscito a recuperare tutte le informazioni, che non è stato affatto facile, sono passati altri giorni. Come concordato mando un'email con il cai in allegato. Da quel giorno in poi non ho più sentito nulla, tranne una chiamata al telefono con un signore della suddetta filiale che ripeteva come un pappagallo che per loro, avendo pagato il danno, la questione era chiusa. In questo momento, provando una situazione di profondo disagio, mi hanno spiegato che c'è pochissimo che possa fare, ma la netta sensazione è che Midarent si sia appropriata di 950 Euro per un fanale rotto e un graffio al parafango e non abbia fatto assolutamente nulla per tutelare o rendere giustizia in favore di un cliente che ha subito un torto. Aggiungo che per legge il proprietario dell'automobile, in questo caso Midarent, ha il dovere di denunciare un incidente stradale entro tre giorni. Lascio a voi le conclusioni, ma nessuno mi toglie dal pensiero che abbia avuto a che fare con delle persone in malafede.

Car Rental Nightmare

At every turn, they tried to extort money from me. In the end, everything cost me twice as much as the initial online booking price. To make matters worse, the car insurance they forced me to buy—from both Discovercars.com and the local rental company—ended up costing me more than the car rental itself.

Disappointed Experience Despite Clear Communication Advance

I reached out to the rental company before my trip, explaining exactly how many people, how many days, and how many suitcases we’d have — all in detail. I asked for their recommendation on the right car size to make sure everything would fit comfortably, especially since I was traveling with children. Based on their advice, I booked the car they suggested.

As a gesture of goodwill, I kindly asked if a free upgrade might be possible if anything were available. They responded positively, saying “if we have something, we’ll gladly do it.” I reminded them again via email closer to the trip.

When I arrived, after a long travel day with kids, standing in the heat, I asked again about the upgrade. The agent said yes, there is one larger car available — but it would cost nearly double. I reminded them of our agreement, but was told “no, that’s not possible.”

Then came the real issue: the car I was given did not come close to fitting our luggage. I showed the staff the emails where I had clearly listed the number and size of suitcases. The employee agreed that I was right — but told me “this is what we have.”

I pointed out a bigger car sitting there unused, but was told “that one’s booked.” Well, so was mine — and yet they failed to deliver a suitable vehicle.

In the end, I had to cram luggage under, on, and between the kids — including the front seat — for a very uncomfortable and frankly unsafe ride. I also asked if anything could be done on the price out of fairness, but all I got was “sorry, that’s what we have.”

Unfortunately, this experience left me frustrated and disappointed — not because of lack of availability, but because I did everything right ahead of time to prevent this situation.

Fantastic staff at the Olbia desk

Fantastic staff at the Olbia desk. Everyone can rent cars. The problem is usually the employees you find at the car rental. My experience with Mida staff was great. Professional, flexible, proactive and kind.
The car was as aspected. Collecting the car was easy and fast, same thing to return it. Best value for money. Way to go guys.

Sehr unkomplizierte Vermietung

Sehr unkomplizierte Vermietung ohne Vorbuchung und dennoch gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis auf Sardinien. Sehr nette und zuvorkommende Mitarbeiterin. Bei einem Einparkschaden nicht zu hohe Kosten zu bezahlen. Immer wieder gerne!

not a good experience with this rental…

not a good experience with this rental company. I rented the car for 8 days and returned it in the same condition. when returning it, the employee was too lazy to check the car together. he would call me the same day if there was anything wrong with the car. 3 days later, an amount of 305 euros was charged to my credit card. when I went to get the story. I was shown all kinds of photos of damage that I did not cause. unfortunately I did not film it. so a tip for everyone. These kinds of companies know that you cannot do anything abroad.

Avoid at all costs!

I recently had the worst experience of my life with Midarent, and I strongly advise others to avoid this company at all costs unless they want to be fleeced. After renting a car, I was overcharged two weeks after my rental agreement ended, with no notice or explanation. In my 15 years of renting vehicles, I’ve never encountered such an issue. Clear communication and accurate billing are fundamental, yet this was not the case.

Secondly, I still have not received my deposit. Midarent claimed the delay was due to the bank being in the UK, but after contacting my bank two weeks later, they confirmed no payment had been made. This feels dishonest and raises serious concerns about the integrity of their processes.

This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied, and I can only urge others to avoid Midarent to prevent similar frustrations.

NEVER EVER USE MIDA RENT AGAIN!!!!
After we returned the car, I asked if they would check it, they said it was not necessary.
Two days later they told me that there was damage to the underside of the car and they had deducted money from my account without my permission.
We checked, there was no damage to the car.
As I see from the comments they have done the same to others.
Scammers!
NEVER RENT A CAR HERE!

Les meilleurs !!!

Les meilleurs ! Ils nous ont sauvés la vie ! Suite à une arnaque du loueur SIXT nous nous sommes retrouvés sans voiture et avons dû payer une nuit d’hôtel à Alghero ! Je suis arrivée devant le bureau d’Andrea de Mida rent et il m’a trouvé une voiture en quelques minutes et a un prix beaucoup moins cher ! La voiture était neuve en super état vraiment merci mille fois !

I’m surprised they didn’t offer me 7 donkeys. I might have actually accepted. We should have realized the company was cursed as soon as the car they prepared for us broke down in the first 5 minutes with what we thought was a flat battery. Admittedly, they were nice and offered us a 9-seater to replace our 7-seater (for our group of 7). While the extra room would be nice, extra room is not something the streets, roads, and villages of Sardinia have much of, and I did not relish having to squeeze a “bus” through mouseholes and turn it into a chess grater, so I declined their offer, and we headed off with what we thought was a charged battery.

We had a long drive ahead of us, so hopefully, the issue would be fixed. It wasn’t. Over the following 2 days, it broke down twice more, and both times friendly tourists (not locals, who ignored us) came to our rescue. On the second breakdown, I phoned them again, and again they offered me the 9-seater, which I had already declined and unless we teleported to a new country obviously wouldn’t work. They then offered me two cars, which I also explained wasn’t actually a solution since I was the only driver, but apparently, they thought this was a good offer. Finally, they came up with a good idea: they would come to me and replace the battery. So, after playing tag with their repair man for an hour and then sitting in the sun, they informed me that, alas, they could not replace the battery at all, and would I like the 9-seater or the two cars. Getting quite frustrated now with the disruption to the holiday, the many hours wasted, and the apparent inability to understand why both wouldn’t work, I said we would just have to carry on and do our best and hope the car wouldn’t break down again. This is where I’m surprised, they didn’t offer me 7 donkeys instead. Would have been an ok solution maybe. A Bit slow, but maybe more reliable.

Luckily the car didn’t break down, and we made it to the airport and we dropped the car off. After all this, I tried to have a discussion with the company about an adequate refund for providing us with a car that wasn’t actually up to the job of consistently transporting people around without incident. Surely some sort of refund would be appropriate and hugely appreciated.

Apparently not. They believe there is no reason for a refund at all. In fact, they responded:

"Good morning Sir, First of all, we’ve checked the car and everything is fine. About the problem that you had yesterday, instead, we spoke with our superior and a refund won’t be possible because we offered you, from the first time (so since you were in our parking), to change the car. We proposed you a van or 2 cars and, in the end, we also asked our assistant to reach you to change the battery. So, as far as it was in our possibility, we have tried to do our best to ensure you the best solution, but it was your choice to keep the car."

I give them a 2 instead of a 1, purely because they managed to do this all without being rude, so there is that. 😊

Agence de confiance - très serieuse

Suite à une arnaque au surbooking du loueur AVIS aéroport d'Alghero, nous avons du en urgence trouver une autre agence et nous avons trouvé MIDA RENT qui prend en plus toutes les cartes Visa. Prix dans la norme, le vehicule n'avait que 80 kms au compteur. Par mail nous avons tres facilement pu prolonger la location sans nous déplacer. Réponses très rapides et cordiale. J'ai restitué la voiture et personne n'est venu voir si elle avait subi de chocs. Je n'ai pas eu de mauvaise surprise de retrait de caution et l'agence, au vu du litige avec AVIS m'a fourni dans l'heure les factures demandées. Je conseille très fortement cette agence pour son serieux. Le personnel a toujours été joviale.

Watch out! Scam!

Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with this company!

At first everything was normal with this car rental in Cagliari Sardinia. Service friendly, car brand new, no complaints at all.

When we went to return our rental though their behavior changed drastically. The woman (middle aged, petite, brown hair, elegant clothes, thick black glasses) told us we weren't allowed to go back with her to the car, although we had just parked it and already walked the 100 yards from the parking spot to their office. She urgently pressed us to wait in front of the parking house so she could go look at the car alone. Already shady af.
When she came back with an exaggeratedly sad facial expression she said she couldn't give us back the full deposit because the car allegedly was too dirty. She withheld from us about a third of the initial price we payed for the rental. The paperwork didn't say anything about washing the car before return and we didn't agree verbally on washing it when we rented. Also I never heard of that policy from any other car rental companies. Not to mention that this would be one hell of a pricey car wash.

We had to catch a flight and didn't have a lot of time to argue. And tbh I think this is exactly what they base their scam on.

Don't get scammed this is a bs company!

Komplette Abzocke und Verarschung!
Die Metung an sich lief aganz reibungslos und einfach.
Bei Abgabe des Autos wurden wir bei der Prüfung auf Beschädigungen nicht mitgenommen, die Mitarbeiterin war super unfreundlich, zog uns von der hinterlegten Kaution 30€ für eine Autoreinigung ab, da wir das Auto nicht gewaschen und geputzt zurück gaben und etwas Sand im Fussraum war, was weder im Vertrag festgehalten noch anderweitig besprochen wurde.

Absolut schlechter Kundenservice und nicht weiter zu empfehlen! Nie wieder!!!
Wenn ich könnte würde ich Minus-Sterne vergeben!

NEVER USE MIDA RENT! They just took money from our creditcard without permission!!! (Sardinia)

They said there was damage under the car caused by us…. but who looks UNDER the car when you do the first check… ? Horrible service and unfriendly!
Never ever again!
