Another great Maria Tash experience at Liberty of London

I wanted to leave a review as I had such a lovely experience yesterday, and was surprised to see negative reviews. I’ve been coming to this Maria Tash for years and have always had amazing service. Yesterday was I think my 4th piercing experience there (and I’ve been other times to buy jewellery) and I also bought my daughter for her 3rd piercing too. We were looked after so well by Cassia (who’s helped me previously and even remembered me - she is totally fantastic) and also Kieran (sorry may be Ciaran), the head piercer. They are all so expert and great with advice, suggestions and just honest opinions, which is what you want. Couldn’t fault. We left very happy after another great experience.

I accidentally ordered a smaller size…

I accidentally ordered a smaller size hoop and i emailed them to ask about the process before the item even arrived. So i sent it back when i received it as per their instructions on email, and it’s been 2 weeks and I got no reply. Horrible service.

Update (June 2025)
I called customer service and told them I’m a frequent customer at stores around the world and that it’s disappointing how unprofessional the online store is. Thankfully they changed their mind. They told me they would make an exception and the money was refunded back to me, however they showed me a photo of an extremely damaged item as proof that it didn’t pass the check.

This was strange as I have never touched it considering I knew it wasn’t my size, (I only meant to receive it to return it & make a new order)

Then I took a photo of my own maria tash earring in my ear and showed them the earring I workout & shower in for months isn’t half as damaged as the photo they provided that is supposed to be the item I’m returning (odd). They said they appreciated my feedback.

Maria Tash is a luxury piercing brand but their online delivery service is certainly not. They need to do a better job.

Be careful not to place a wrong order because the minute you do, they make life difficult for you.

Nightmare!!

Nightmare!!
An online order…
The diamond fell out of the setting while fitting, earring and diamond returned to US as faulty.
Reply from customer service advised that the earring was not in same state as sent out, had been worn and advised due to strict hygiene worn items would not be refunded.
So if you’re wearing a piece of their jewellery and the diamond falls out it’s not their fault and they are not going to refund or replace it because you’ve worn it.

😡 No acceptance of fault from them 😡

Ongoing email emails back and forth - it was a special birthday gift and I’m beyond disappointed, in fact I’m furious, I sent all parts back, they have the earring and stone, I don’t even have the diamond which was a special gift 🤬🤬🤬

Keep falling out - do not buy!

I’ve bought 3 earrings from Maria Tash, one in Sydney and 2 in London. They’re very expensive. Every single one of them has fallen out. I absolutely do not recommend Maria Tash. For such expensive products you expect quality that you can leave in your ears for the long term. I have lost an earring that cost almost £400. Totally unacceptable. Go elsewhere

I’m so glad I came across Maria Tash! I finally have my nose piercing exactly where I wanted it, which isn’t something all piercers are confident in doing. I highly recommend Jasmine. she provided an unforgettable experience. She was quick, gentle, and made the entire process completely painless. She also gave me detailed aftercare instructions, ensuring a smooth healing process.

Visited the Houston store with my…

Visited the Houston store with my sister on March 17th, 2024. My sister purchased a tragus piercing (cost $200) which she had fitted in store by the female assistant working that day. She was taken to a private room at the back of the store for the fitting.
While I waited, I perused the jewelry (as I also have piercings). The salesman (at least I think it was a man) was trying to sell me a small, linked piercing... to my horror that, cost $1950.00!
2 weeks after my sister's fitting her piercing fell out.. she lives in the London and was visiting me in Houston. She advised MT Houston store of the lost fitting... their reply was a blatant lie.. she was told by the Houston store manager that the piercing fitting assistant said my sister refused the fitting and fitted it herself. My sister is partially sighted so this story is laughable and a complete fabrication of events!!
Dreadful customer service, borderline a scam and the jewelry quality are comparable to Claire's accessories (sorry Claire's I've always had good service in your stores.. merely making a point of cost vs quality). Avoid this shambolic organization like the plague.

Incredible liars …

Purchased a stud for a Tragus piercing and had it fitted at the Houston store in March. Shortly afterwards the stud fell out and was lost, on contacting M Tash about this they blatantly denied ever having fitted this! Unbelievable liars. The jewellery is over priced flimsy and not fit for purpose. The company does not deserve to be in business - a view echoed all over the internet. I only wish I had read these reviews before wasting my time and money. Avoid

Horrible quality jewelry and even worse…

Horrible quality jewelry and even worse customer service. Bought the "invisible set" diamond earring and the diamond popped out of the "setting." Tried to return the item, to no avail. Took it to a local jeweler and was told the diamond was glued in and there was no "setting" and that it would continue to pop out over the duration of use. Was also told it was shoddy jewelry in general and this guy had no dog in the fight, so no reason to lie to me. He's from Alaska and has been a jeweler for decades.

The worst


The worst! Do not deal with this company if you ever have to return an item. I sent back earrings that were over 3700.00 the min I opened the package (ordered online) I knew they weren’t worth the money. I repacked them, sent back same day. The following day I received a email they were not accepting them back. Blood on earrings, they sent me pix,doctored photos! I have spent thousands in the store and online. My first return and this happens. If necessary I plan to take legal action. I have contacted my bank. Please anyone reading this spend your money somewhere else. Also do a search lots of bad reviews, shoddy material and poor customer service. Buyers beware!

I was refunded for my order.

These processes are applied both before shipping an order to our clients and when receiving a return.
Our internal records indicate that the merchandise included in your package successfully passed through three quality control checks and was shipped in pristine condition. However, one of the items we received from you as a return were not presented in the same state.

No refund for online order

Returned a pair of earrings which were not even taken out of the box. Refusing to refund and have supplied a picture of a dirty earring. I know 💯 that the item has not been worn meaning that the photo you sent in your response is that of another earring or the item was sent out in this condition. I want a refund please. Furthermore I have since read the reviews on this website and am horrified that this appears to be a common malpractice.

Have since received a refund on the earrings however it has been a very lengthy process to resolve.

I’d like to explain the message Maria…

I’d like to explain the message Maria Tash sent back from my experience with them. They want to say there was wear and tear. Can someone explain how you order 2 of the exact same earring for my tragus. One is in my ear with no problems but the second one the diamond fell out so the exact same day they were delivered I put them in. One is fine the other I sent back to them with the impression that they were going to replace it but they WILL NOT! I have to wait 8 weeks to get back a piece of jewlery that was defective when I received it that they are going to “repair”!

Amazing as always :)

I had my second cartilage piercing done at MARIA TASH yesterday with the amazing Jasmine (she's done both my conch and now daith piercings), and she is such a gem! So personable, really puts you at ease and literally such a minimal pain, great experience - I was shocked as (the first time I had a daith piercing it was very painful) this was a night and day experience. The team were so helpful when I enquired about the piercing and finding pieces that would look good. Definitely my 'go-to' place.

Earring broke: invisible diamond setting stud…

Got an invisible diamond setting stud earring from Dubai Mall while on holiday.
The stud was for my conch pearcing, which has no friction or daily contact with other objects. The diamond fell out after 9 months, when I was blowdrying my hair after the shower. Luckily, I found it. When I contacted Maria Tash, they said I would need to pay to ship it to NYC, and pay for the repair even if I had paid over 500$ for a single stud that was less than a year old. I asked a piercing studio if they could help, and they said that Maria Tash is notoriously known for being pricey and prone to breaking. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I went to Maria tash with my mum and girlfriend in hopes of getting my girlfriend a nice birthday present. But we were met with utter disrespect, rudeness and unpleasant actions from the staff. The man was extremely rude and petty and did not try to help at all. Do better

Terrible quality, appalling service

I purchased a lapis spike gold earring and it broke during the warranty period. I returned it for repairs in October and three months later, I've still not received the repaired piece, and my follow-up emails only ever receive a friendly but generic reply that tells me its still in with the repairs department, and they'll let me know, and thanks me "for my patience". My suggestion of a full refund or replacement piece has gone ignored. For such an expensive earring I'm not only appalled by the shoddy workmanship, but also by this unacceptable level of follow-up customer care. The in-store staff in Sydney are fantastic and I've only ever had great experiences with them - from piercing through to purchasing the jewellery - so this is not a reflection on them. The problem here is that the Maria Tash organisation seems happy to take your money but then semi-ghosts when their products fall short.
Currently looking into my next steps.

Poor quality product and poor attitude from Maria Tash staff

Similar to other reviews and comments online, one of my Maria Tash studs simply came apart in my ear as the decorative piece came away from the post. I returned it to Liberty and was astonished to be told that the warranty period was only six months and a repair would be £50 for a gold and diamond earring worth £375. To make matters worse the senior Maria Tash staff were unpleasant to deal with. Comments included 'gold is malleable' and a sarcastic 'Happy Christmas' as we left the counter, having decided not to pay for the repair. This was particularly surprising and disappointing as my previous experiences have been very good and the piercing staff themselves are excellent. Fortunately Liberty Customer Services have come to the rescue and the Liberty staff could not have been more helpful. I've now received an offer to repair the earring. But I certainly won't be purchasing any more Maria Tash jewellery and wish I didn't own so many of their earrings already, as I'm concerned that the same thing might happen again.

Do not get a piercing in this store

Do not get a piercing in this store, what a joke. Firstly spend over 1£ in this piercings did 2 piercings, the piercer just did a very bad job in one of them it was angled the worst way possible. The back of the piercings were wayyy too small for the swelling that happens after, but apparently this is already a common issue with this shop for what I can see on the reviews. I live in Portugal, and the first piercing started to imbed into my ear, I had to remove it nearly with a surgery. Spoke with the shop the tried to help sending to bigger parts, where I had to pay 500£ to get the bars from customs. End up taking the piercing sending back and for a goodwill of the side they gave me the money back for that one but straight away they told me that they wouldn’t refound me the most expensive one. A week after had to take the second one because it happened exactly the same. Now I have a 550£ piercing that I am not going to use because of the piercer mistake. What horrible experience when you pay so much money, lost both piercing, big infections on my ear, lost the 550£ for the piercing. You shouldn’t offer a job that you are not qualified for.

Disappointing Aftercare for Premium Prices

I got five new piercings on my ears and purchased earrings from Maria Tash. Unfortunately, the piercings keep getting swollen, so I’ve had to reach out to them multiple times to get them checked. Each time there’s an issue, they charge me—even when it’s due to their own actions.

For example, one of their technicians recently tightened a post, which left my ear extremely sore and painful. When I went back today to have it checked again, they charged me once more.

Honestly, I’m disappointed with their approach. For the premium prices they charge, I expected better aftercare service, especially when the issues seem to stem from their handling.

On the 13th of November, my earring fell off, so I visited your showroom, where one of your staff members assisted me by inserting a replacement earring. Since it wasn’t the original earring I purchased from you, I informed her that I would find the original and return. I was charged AED 75 for this service and left.

On Saturday, the 16th, I found my original earring and returned to have it replaced. Your team recognized me and did not charge me for the replacement. However, during this visit, the technician changed the posts and tightened them significantly, which caused swelling and extreme pain in my ear.

Today, I returned to address the issue, and another staff member replaced the posts again, acknowledging that tightening them was a mistake and that it had caused the swelling. However, I was charged again for this visit.

Now, I will need to return next week, and I assume I will be charged again. This is not about the AED 75—it’s about the attitude and the way clients are being treated. I would like to know if you would prefer me to share my bank statements to clarify the situation further.

DO NOT COME FOR FIRST PIERCING

I went to Maria Tash to get my first piercing on my BIRTHDAY as I was told it was of the "highest quality" and spent over £1k on earrings, travelling all the way to London and being assured all piercers are experienced. Little do I know the back earing chosen for my first fresh piercing was WAYYY too small. A month later, after a hair got caught on to the earing and a little tug, the back bit of the earing went INSIDE my EAR. I was in so much pain for hours unable to pull my earing out or pierced through my ear. I thought the back earing has fallen off but it ENTERED my ear. I was bleeding, in so much pain until I went to another ear piercer who kindly pulled the whole thing out raw. I was told the earring was UNACCEPTABLE for a fresh piercing and my ear closed. I am left with a ugly hole in my ear that is sealed at the back, having to wait to heal for a month until I can get another piercing at the same spot. Absolutely unacceptable, how can a piercer at Maria Tash with "10+ years of experience" make such an incompetent decision.
