I ordered a custom deck of cards with spot UV varnish and rounded corners for a professional project.
Unfortunately, the final product did not match my expectations. The spot UV effect was not visible and did not provide the contrast I was expecting. The corner radius was also noticeably different from what had been discussed prior to production (2 or 3mm instead of 4mm), and the cards had glossy finishing I did not expect.
After contacting customer service, I received detailed technical explanations regarding their production process. However, I believe important information about the visual limitations of their digital printing method should have been communicated before production, especially when spot UV varnish is selected as a premium finish.
To their credit, they did offer a 15% partial refund as a goodwill gesture for some cards that arrived with dirty marks. However, this did not resolve my main concerns, as I was ultimately unable to use the cards for their intended purpose.
My advice to future customers is to work with this company if you do not have particular specifications maybe with promotional cards, for the rest I do not consider this factory as professionnal card maker.

As we explained in our detailed correspondence, your order was placed for an unlaminated, direct digital print run. In digital printing worldwide, toner inherently carries a natural satin/gloss sheen. Applying a flat digital selective varnish over an unlaminated digital background results in a subtle, elegant tonal effect. The high-contrast, tactile effect you were looking for requires the application of a Matte Lamination base, which creates a non-reflective background.
Regarding the corners, a mathematically perfect 4mm radius requires a custom-forged steel industrial die-cut tool (which costs approximately €1,000 to manufacture). For custom prototyping sizes where a dedicated die does not exist in our catalog like in your situation, mechanical cornering is utilized, which carries standard manual trimming tolerances (+/- 1mm) that were fully communicated prior to production.
