the executive branch is trashing this firm. this became clear to us today after visiting one of the locations where we have been shopping for decades, we found the place in a complete shambles, looking like a poorly run garbage dump. why? clearly the corporate office has trashed their staff and managers and now the people left working at this location are just the survivors hanging onto a sinking ship. disgraceful. [update: we tried to post this on the Better Business Bureau site and the site was blocking all negative reviews. We then looked up JoAnn's and found that two years ago it went public. Thus the executives are now gutting this business).

Great Customer Service
I am writing to let you know of my incredible experience with your customer service employee Israel Henry. I purchased 30 buttons (10 packs) which I bought in a combination of on-line and in three different stores.
After finding out it was going to cost me $100 to have the buttons changed to the new ones I purchased which came to about $60, I attempted to return them. The on-line orders emails were somehow lost and I wasn't able to get a full refund. When I called customer service, not only did I get a professional, warm and friendly person, but he saved me the trouble of having to go back to the store for my refund and gave me a direct refund.
After everything I went through to purchase the buttons (driving to three of your locations and on-line) this saved me an incredible amount of time and energy not to mention the gas.
I so appreciated his ability to make this happen. I was about ready to never shop in your store again; but have now changed my mind and will continue to be a customer!

Order cancelled after strung along for a month
So I notice my order is on hold 3 days after I place it. Reach out to customer service and their first agent tells me I have to wait at least 7 days. Weird. But ok... I wait. Reach out again to question why it's STILL saying on hold. Next agent tells me they will look into it. Turns out they had to reach out to double check with warehousing where my items were. So you mean to tell me this could have been checked on since the day I reached out? Noted and frustrated. I have 3 agents messaging me at any given time telling me how they still haven't heard back. I ask point blank is this going to be cancelled. They tell me they don't know anything. Flash forward to almost a whole month later for them to tell me it's cancelled... Meanwhile their stores have the item in stock but of course the sale is no longer. I'm beyond over it. They should at least allow you to get the items in store with a discount (they should honor it by raincheck), give a coupon, SOMETHING other than "oops our bad" after a whole month. Joann fabrics is awful, I barely do business with them due to crap experiences and figured I'd give their online sale a shot in hopes it would be better. Nope. After this situation I will not be doing business with them again. Bad for business the way they handle things without any care to the customer whatsoever. Good riddance!

Overall this store seems to be understaffed. Upon my current visit I asked a worker to unlock the bathroom; she wrongly informed me it was already unlocked. When I came back to where she was, she was gone when I talk to a manager she just said that’s how it is. Totally rude. I think this is inappropriate.

After shopping for many years at this company, shopping in the Fallbrook California store recently, everywhere I went there were bells in only my location as if to summon the security guards but not for other whites shopping. This has never happened in other Joann stores and it was insulting and disrespectful. I will not return and will shop online or at Michaels. Get racism out of customer service with strategies that target offenders not culture or skin color!

Illegal practices
Joann fabrics is trying to illegally enforce return policies that are not posted anywhere in their retail locations but only on their website. Many retailers do not use the internet and therefore would never see the policy! When confronted with this, they turn their heads and do nothing! They are money hungry thieves and need to be stopped! You can purchase the same items cheaper at other retailers. Fabrics are way overpriced and they scam you by always keeping the most expensive fabrics on sale preventing you from using coupons to get a higher discount. Their policies are anti-consumer and illegal. Boycott this store!

I placed an online order with Joann’s craft store on February 24, 2023; it was just shipped and picked up TODAY, March 6, 2023. My FedEx tracking tells me I should receive it by end of day, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Good grief! Over a week to box it up and put a label on it? The price of my items was very good compared to Amazon, but Amazon was also sold out.
I hope my four plastic storage organizers arrive in great condition; won’t be able to wait two or three more weeks if they have to be re-ordered. They are coming by pony express, I guess. 😃
EMPLOYEE CALLED ME A "RACIST" AND TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE STORE!!
Today I went to your Downingtown, PA store to return a piece of fabric I purchased last week because it had been cut incorrectly. The following incident occurred and I am extremely upset!
I took the fabric I wanted to return to the cutting desk and explained to the salesperson that I had, on my previous visit, asked the gentleman who had cut it for me for his help in determining how much fabric I would need to remake the seat cover for a baby bouncy chair and I handed him the seat cover so he could determine the yardage I needed. He was not very kind or helpful and acted as if I was bothering him because I asked for his help instead of just TELLING HIM what I needed. At any rate, I handed him the bolt of fabric I chose to use and he cut it for me.
When I got home to use the fabric for my project, I realized that he had cut it too short because he did not take into account that the fabric print could only be placed lengthwise (up and down) and not widthwise (sideways) and therefore cut it too short. As a long time employee, He SHOULD have known that!!! (I frequent that store and know that he has been there for years). So, today, I had to drive back to the store (10 miles from my home) to return the fabric and get the correct yardage.
I went to the cutting desk and explained my situation to the salesperson, her name was ZUZANA. I told her that the gentleman who had cut it for me seemed disinterested in helping me and asked her if he was the manager, and she told me that there are four different men that are managers there (although I’ve never seen more than one male employee in that store who cuts fabric.). I said “Well, I can’t recall his name, but he was a black man”, (there was no negative tone or inflection whatsoever in my voice) I was simply identifying him. She replied “You mean African-American!” and I replied “Yes, OK, whatever term you want to use” and she said “NO, it’s NOT OK and it’s NOT whatever term I want to use, it’s African American and you are a racist!”! I said “I did not mean to sound racist and was only using that term to describe him to you” and she said “That was a very racist remark you made”. I said “I am an Italian American and do not go around calling myself an “Italian American”. She said “Well, I’m a Slavic American and I DO and I’m NOT having this conversation with you, I’m just not” and she slammed my intended fabric purchase down on the table and tried to wrap it up as if she was not going to wait on me. Then she said “I’m not waiting on you, I’m just not, you’re a racist, just leave the store!” I replied “I’m not leaving the store because I need that fabric and I told you I didn’t mean anything by my description and it’s none of your business anyway how I referred to him”. She proceeded to argue, saying “It IS my business and you are a racist!” She must have then realized she was the EMPLOYEE and I was the CUSTOMER and proceeded to cut the fabric for me. When done, she made another remark under her breath which I did not hear and I asked her to repeat it, but she would not. So, I looked at her name tag which she saw me doing and she said “Go ahead, look at it, my name is Zuzana!” I told her I surely was looking for her name and surely would contact her employer to which she said “Go ahead! You made a very racist remark and I’m not having this conversation with you, leave the store, JUST LEAVE THE STORE!!” In addition to her accusations and insults, she was very LOUD to the point that I wished I had asked her to lower her voice but figured she would just hurl more accusations and insults at me, so I didn’t bother, but I was mortified and embarrassed.
I paid for my purchases and left the store in tears with my heart beating out of my chest and my hands shaking!! I am 63 years old and Do Not need this unwarranted aggravation from an EMPLOYEE at Joann Fabric who is supposed to be providing customer service and satisfaction, not to mention minding their own damn business!
I will NOT tolerate this behavior from ANYONE and will surely make public this occurrence!
2-12-23 I returned to the same store and Zuzana was very rude to me again, I spoke with the District Manager, who assured me she would be dealt with, but as of today, 3-3-23, Zuzana is still employed at Joann Fabric!
Good for international delivery
I live in Mexico and Jo-Ann now has international delivery. It is not cheap, but it makes it possible to get the yarn I like,

My entire ordering experience has been a nightmare. What seems to be a good option is the customizable fabrics. The stores do not carry the samples of the types of fabric choices available. Then when you do the customizing there is no way to see if the order accurately accepted your customization. You have to pray its correct. Even texting with a rep ( no live person available and takes days) they confirmed no way to see that. NEXT I just went to work on fabric and it is not 3 yards. It is 6 inches short. Will NEVER do this again.
Very poor experience
I emailed them after the eta of the order had passed. The only response I got was that my order was cancelled and they refunded me. This hurts my business alot because I was waiting on specific colors to complete an order.
There was no prior communication and they probably wouldn’t have refunded my money if I didn’t get in touch with them. Best to avoid

dot com needs some serious help
Every single time I try to order online, my entire order disappears & says my cart is empty. I usually try to make a big order so there will be 30+ items in my cart. The site is beyond slow & who has time to start over to reload their cart? Joann always misses a big sale. They need to hire some IT help to run their site better.

I ordered 14 yards of white Kona quilt backing. A bolt has 10 yards so I was expecting a whole bolt and 4 yards. They shipped 4 yards which is due today. I got an email today 2 yards have been shipped. I called them to tell them do not ship the 2 yards as I will not piece my quilt backing. They said they could not cancel the order. They want me to get all the yards and then send back. Wait 2-3 weeks for a refund. Total BS. I’m refusing the delivery today and disputing the charge to my credit card. In addition the fabric is stuffed and wadded up into a plastic bag. You will need to spend hours ironing the fabric that is 103 inches wide

I made an order about a week ago using a gift card. It changed the whole price to my debt because I had maybe 2.50 that wasn’t covered by the gift card. I messaged them and they told me there nothing they can do about it. Even after showing them that I used my gift card because at first they thought I didn’t use one. Now they send me a gift card refund for something that wasn’t in stock instead of refunding my bank. Never shopping here again!!!!

Totally satisfied now. I received the fleece in 3 separate shipments — all within 1 week of ordering. ($130 order)
Excellent quality fleece, super sale price, very cute and perfect for my needs.
My previous concern now explained in an acceptable manner.
I was alarmed that they continued to hit my debit card without authorization. They explained in an email that Their process is to hold funds in a “pending” state but charge the card on day of shipment only for the amount shipped that day. For example, my order came from 2 different locations in 3 separate shipments— and I was debited 3 times in addition to the original amount held— but not spent— in pending. I don’t necessarily LIKE that they routinely hold/ tie-up twice the amount if your order… BUT it is not criminal, not theft, and now that I understand what the heck is going on, I will put up with it and plan accordingly because the quality is excellent and their sale prices make it affordable for me to treat my customers (doggies) with a snuggly warm cute fleece bandanna — which I couldn’t otherwise afford to do.

Original Text: Horrific fraud of a company. Took my money yesterday… Then took more money out of my debit account today! Can’t get through by phone— the number changed to an insurance company. I ordered 2 bolts of fleece fabric + additional yardage.
The worst part is they did this to me before. Hit my account several times and sent scant part of the order without a refund.
I realized my mistake as soon as I completed my online order— damn they got me again. I meant to order from Michaels — not Joann Fabric.
I have a small dog grooming shop and cannot afford this fraud!! I planned to give comfy fleece bandannas for the doggies after their grooming.
