This is my 5th bike and boat with islandhoppers and love the format and the quality of service that they provide. As with any boating excursion you are at the mercy of weather and they go overboard to modify the trip to make it enjoyable. The bikes are top notch along with crew and boats are always in pristine condition. The only thing I would hope for is more trips in Italy.

Safety last, extraordinarily poor customer service
My husband and I were on a Croatia trip with two friends. We booked the tour through Giro Libero but the tour was operated by Boat Bike Tours. We were pleased with the ship—large cabins all things considered, nice common space, clean. The crew was excellent.
But… the tour leaders failed miserably on safety. We arrived after the introductory session because it took us a long time to find the boat in the very large harbor. We had not been provided with the exact location. When we did make it on board we were told we didn’t need to bother with the on board safety info because we wouldn’t need it! I think that’s actually not legal. On the bike rides, the cyclists were asked to serve as route guides when we were making a turn, because the lead guide was in front and the other guide was in back. That system failed twice, resulting in half of the group going the wrong way. As a result, the sweep guide, the one in the back, deserted their sweeping post and rushed off without informing the cyclists in the back about what they were doing. If something had happened to the cyclists in back during this time, they would have been out of luck as there was nobody behind them to help.
After the trip I was on the phone with Boat Bike Tours for a total of over 2 hours. They agreed that the situation we had been in was untenable, thanked me for spending the time to educate them about the situation and said they would arrange a partial reimbursement. Instead, they got back in touch saying that we needed to ask Giro Libero for the refund, even though Giro Libero had absolutely nothing to do with the operation of the tour. Needless to say, Giro Libero was not forthcoming with a reimbursement offer.
Given promises made and broken, poor communication and poor guiding, I would absolutely not recommend a bike tour with Boat Bike Tour. Initially, I thought that they took my concerns seriously, but obviously that wasn’t the case.
I would give them a better rating for the ship, meals and city tours, but figure that people read the best ratings and the worst when looking at future travel and want to make sure that future customers are aware of the safety concerns.

Reiseerfahrung mit Regular-Bike
Wir waren zu Dritt auf der Tour und mit einem Regular- Bike unterwegs. Mit einem Führer vorne und einem Guide Transporter/Auto mit Gepäck am Ende der Gruppe, lässt leider die E Biker leider lange warten und setzt die mit Regular Bike unter Zeitdruck. Möglich ist nur einen weiteren Guide für die Ohne Ebike einzusetzen oder die Gruppen gleich zu splitten.

Wir können Ihre Rückmeldung zur Situation mit den E-Bikes und den normalen Rädern sehr gut nachvollziehen. Wir verstehen gut, dass es in gemischten Gruppen, insbesondere durch die unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten von E-Bikes und regulären Rädern, gelegentlich zu Herausforderungen kommen kann.
Ihr Vorschlag, entweder einen zusätzlichen Guide für die regulären Räder einzuplanen oder die Gruppen entsprechend zu splitten, werden wir weitergeben.
Wir würden uns freuen, Sie bald wieder bei einer Inselhüpfen-Reise begrüßen zu dürfen.

Bellezza was a beautiful boat to be on the crew was great they were accommodating. The food was delicious, the rooms were nice but a bit small for 2 people ( it is a boat so they can't be too big. ) Our biking tour guides were terrific and the itinerary was good.

Our boat also had an amazing chef that prepared some of the best meals we’ve had in the 5 weeks we spent travelling Europe.

The overall experience was truly great
Our trip started August 22nd, Split - Dobrovnk. The overall experience was truly incredible, and i will recommend this experience to friends. Croatia’s islands, history, old cobelstone towns and coastline are among the most beautiful I have ever seen, and touring the Adriatic Sea was an experience of a lifetime.
Our guides, Ivan and Max, were outstanding. Ivan provided daily briefings that were both thorough and helpful—covering what to expect on each ride, including elevation, blind corners, and other details that prepared us well. Both Ivan and Max were exceptional throughout the trip. I also want to give full credit to the Romantica crew, who were consistently kind, polite, and attentive.
I do wish to share two areas for potential improvement. First, for passengers staying in lower decks, the smell of fuel on several nights made it difficult to sleep and at times uncomfortable to remain in the cabin. To be honest, the first night in Split was so bad I wanted to leave the tour. I understand this may be challenging to address, but I wanted to bring it to your attention.
Second, my wife sustained a fairly serious cut on her hand during the third day of riding. Unfortunately, the first aid kit Max carried was inadequate—lacking even a pair of scissors to cut bandages. I would strongly recommend that:
a) Guides be equipped with a standard first aid kit that includes essentials such as steri-strips and scissors.
b) The first aid pannier kit be checked and restocked before each day’s ride.

At the same time, we sincerely appreciate your honest feedback regarding the areas where there is room for improvement. We're very sorry to hear about the smell of fuel in the lower deck cabins. We understand how this could negatively impact your comfort and rest, and we take such concerns seriously. While we are aware that ventilation challenges can sometimes occur on certain vessels, particularly when docked in busy ports, your experience clearly went beyond what is acceptable. We will be addressing this with our operations team and the shipowner to explore options for improvement.
Your suggestions regarding the first aid situation are extremely valid. We fully agree that our guides should be equipped with complete, up-to-date first aid kits, and that these should be checked and restocked regularly. We will review our internal processes to ensure this standard is met on every departure going forward.

Fabulous way to see beautiful Croatia
Our trip leaders Niki and Mirta and Bellezza's captain and crew all went out of their way to see that we had a terrific time exploring the Dalmatian islands by e-bike. Super flotte Radtouren
Leider keine Radreise im Wohlfühltempo. Die geführten Touren sind in einem sehr flotten Tempo erfolgt. Man hat das Gefühl alles im Schnelldurchlauf zu erleben. Es wäre gut dem Gast - der bucht, nochmals darauf hinzuweisen, dass die Radtouren überwiegend auf gut befahrenen Straßen erfolgen. Da ja in Schottland auf der linken Straßenseite gefahren wird, ist stellenweise eine sehr hohe Aufmerksamkeit erforderlich. Wir sind bisher noch nie oder sehr wenig auf einem E-Bike gefahren, daher bietet sich diese Tour nicht unbedingt als erste Erfahrung an. Wir haben eine gute Unterstützung durch der Reiseleiter gehabt, dies hat uns sehr gut im Umgang mit den E-Bikes geholfen. Die E-Bikes waren gut. So eine Woche auf einem Großsegler lässt darauf hoffen das die Segel auch einmal gesetzt werden, leider kamen die Segel nicht zum Einsatz. Ob es der Wind war der fehlte oder zu wenig Crewmitglieder kann ich nicht einschätzen, sehr schade.
Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Crew an Bord. In der kleinen Bordküche wurde täglich ein sehr gutes Frühstück und Abendessen „gezaubert“. Die Tourenleitung war gut, es wurde täglich ein Infoblatt zum Tagesablauf angebracht.

Gleichzeitig bedauern wir, dass das Tempo der geführten Radtouren für Sie als zu hoch empfunden wurde und Sie die Ausflüge eher als „Schnelldurchlauf“ erlebt haben. Unsere Radtouren sind sportlich orientiert und sollten nicht zu leicht angesehen werden.
Wir schreiben auf unserer Webseite ausdrücklich, dass wir die Radtouren nicht für Anfänger empfehlen. Auch die Tatsache, dass in Schottland auf der linken Straßenseite gefahren wird, erfordert eine gewisse Erfahrung und erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit, worauf wir in der Reisebeschreibung ebenfalls hinweisen. Wir verstehen jedoch, dass der persönliche Eindruck während der Reise hiervon abweichen kann und nehmen Ihre Hinweise sehr ernst.
Wir bedauern, dass die Segel während Ihrer Reise nicht gesetzt wurden. Leider können wir die Wetterverhältnisse nicht beeinflussen.

Dear Sarah, we apologize that the provided meals on board did not fulfill your expectations and left such a bad impression on your holiday experience with us. The sooner we receive such feedback, the quicker we can act in accommodating improvements. We are happy to confirm that since your tour with us in June 2025, we have been made aware of the circumstances and have applied the necessary improvements to the catering on board with great success.
The cabin details of each individual boat in our portfolio can be found on our website along with an interactive visual representation of the varying cabin types. For a more spacious experience, we can confidently recommend you our boats in the Deluxe Category and above.
We hope you were able to enjoy the provided cycling tours and the local impressions of your holiday destination with us. We hope that these impressions and the memories made together with your travel group on board remain a positive aspect of your tour experience.

Boats and staff are great Bikes are Horrible.
have done 5 trips with Island Hoppers AKA inselhuepfen. 2 on the Croatian Coast. The higher end boats are gorgeous, the staff wonderful. The bikes are horrid. They’ve been the same heavy crappy bikes for a decade. They weren’t all that great to begin with. The staff tries to do maintenance but there’s only so much they can do. Bikes break down often.
When we’ve complained we were told to reserve and pay for a better bike. We have tried that the last 2 times. On arrival we were told there weren’t any available.
Seeing a country by bike is wonderful. Until inselhuepfen replaces the bikes we will not be going again.

We are sorry to hear that the provided rental bicycles on our cycling and boat tours have left such a bad impression with you. We are currently sourcing additional bike models for the season 2026 and should we be fortunate enough to welcome you back for a future tour, please reach out to us personally with the explicit request for an alternative bike model. If this is confirmed in advance, availability on site will be guaranteed. This is a wish that we can gladly accommodate.
