Not interested in customer satisfaction!

I ordered a blind for my living room and went with the white because it seemed like a good match. However, what we didn't realize was that when the sun shone through, the curtain became a huge blinding white blob that is very difficult on the eyes. If it's sunny, it's actually easier on the eyes to keep the blind open - not as much bright reflection. Not the fault of HD, just an unfortunate situation. Now, a year later, the blind mechanism broke and was I informed that HD would replace the whole blind. I immediately made a call to the head office, explaining the situation and asked if I could pay the upcharge to choose a different colour. One person said yes, no problem, as long as they hadn't started the order. Well, I knew that wouldn't be the case since they had informed our representative at 4:30 pm that they would replace the whole blind and I was calling them around noon the very next day. We all know the scissors were not cutting the fabric that quickly! However, the powers-that-be insisted that there was NO WAY they could stop the order. In this day of technology, I am NOT that naive to believe that this was the case (especially considering that I waited over 4 weeks to get the blind the first time around). My final conclusion is that pleasing their customers is not anywhere near the top of their agenda! I am a former business owner, I understand completely what can and cannot be changed. This is a matter of not caring enough to go a slightly extra mile to keep a customer satisfied. So I will have a blind where when sitting in our LR, we all have to try to position ourselves in such a way that our eyes are shielded. And sometimes, that involves wearing sunglasses in my LR! So disappointing after spending nearly $2,000 to have this blind installed.

What a Scam and Customer service standards that are well below standard

What a Scam. Hunter Douglas not honouring their 10yr warranty when Thomas Sandersons customers transferred to Hilary’s ad the cut it short to 5yrs.

Now they do not even want to send someone out to quote to fix as they are over 5 yrs old.
I have over 30 blinds form these cowboys and guess what they have no support in place (even if one is ants to pay for their service).

I would have liked to give no start but that is not an option ….

Hunter Douglas not supporting there LIFETIME GURANTEE!

Hunter Douglas not supporting there LIFETIME GURANTEE that they promised me years ago when i purchased there blinds. Years ago i used the guarantee for parts and repairs and they were super efficient on assisting me with the parts i needed and service for repairs. NOW HUNTER DOUGLAS says "sorry, your not in our system cause we got new computors" and cant help me at all! NOTHING! No help for LIFTIME GUARANTEE! CATHEY the operator was well prepared to shine me off in anyway she could to not help me since HUNTER DOUGLAS all of a sudden had no information on me at all in there system. Cathey had everyway possible to blow me off on anything that HUNTER DOUGLAS could do for me! ABSOLUTEY NOTHING! Talking about insulting a customer by not supporting HUNTER DOUGLAS'S LIFETIME GUARANTEE that was promised to me at purchase. Worst customer service ive had in years and from a company that took care of you before!

Call ANYONE else!

Hunter Douglas is not a reputable company and clearly has no interest the image of their brand. I called them to get plantation shutters and they referred me to Creative Blinds, who absolutely cannot be trusted.
I have plantation shutters in my home and wanted to match them in one more room. No problem, they said. Designer came and all he talked about was paint color. White is white. No problem. Pay in full, over two grand, and then the installer will come to take proper measurements.
I paid in full and the installer came to measure. And to inform me that they cannot match my existing shutters at all. It will be a different material, and will not match.
Faced with the choice to cancel and eventually get a refund, and start all over looking for a reputable company, or just getting it done, I decided that maybe it didn't matter so much as this is for another room.
Installer returned two weeksish later with no call or appointment made. Just rang the bell one day. Had no idea he was coming. He installed the plantation shutters. They are cheap and flimsy. These are clearly an inferior product.
I wish I had never heard of Hunter Douglas, and especially Creative Blinds. They are both terrible and dishonest. Never again.

Love our Hunter Douglas silhouette…

Love our Hunter Douglas silhouette blinds, especially now that they have rechargeable batteries. Our only disappointment is that they do not fit closely together, nor completely cover the edge of the window frame. This means that if someone wanted to do so, they can see into the interior of the room by peaking through the crack at the edge of each panel.

Douglas lifetime limited warranty

Hunter Douglas doesn't explain the lifetime limited warranty . If the blinds become inoperable after a 7 year period then the lifetime limited warranty is declared.
The consultant Rockwood Shutters took my claim and after consulting Hunter Douglas. I was explained my lifetime warranty was a limited warranty . The pull twine is internal.
Rockwood Shutters are associates of home depot.
Consumer beware

I had a problem with the fabric on a pleated blind

I had a problem with the fabric on a pleated shade. When you dropped it down the fabric would bunch.
I contacted Ben at Hunter Douglas. Ticket 339538.
I sent him a pic of the blind up which was perfect and down when it bunched. First he said it was the cord, the cord was fine. After back and forth on email he finally said it was the fabric. "If it is the case of pleats no longer folding and not the strings getting caught up, unfortunately that is not repairable. A new shade would be required." "You may contact your local dealer for replacement options." My dealer is out of business. "Hunter Douglas fabric shades are covered by a lifetime coverage on internal mechanisms and fabric delamination." Hunter Douglas never offered take the blind back and give me a new one.

Terrible service, no maintenance

Terrible service! They will charge you top of the market prices and when asked to help you with repair or maintenance they will not do so unless you have a valid warranty. Their suggestion was literally to buy new blinds from them. I will never buy again from them and hope you can avoid the horrible customer service.

Poor business practice

Shades that I spent thousands of dollars are falling apart and even though I have a warranty they have been telling me for months they are coming to fix them and they sent a sales person to my house who could do nothing. HD bought 3 day blinds and not honoring agreements. Customer service was rude when I tried to get some resolution. Do not purchase anything from them.

Motors for shades with remote only last…

Motors for shades with remote only last about 5 years so you have to buy new ones. One of my shades ripped when trying to get the battery pack to work so therefore they will not replace because it was "torn" and was accused of damaging it. I thought this was a reputable company...obviously it is not

Do not do business with Hunter Douglas

Do not do business with Hunter Douglas. Their prices are three times those of other manufacturers, and they do not honor their "lifetime" warranty. I have a house full of their blinds that I was duped into buying from a local dealer that promised a lifetime warranty. I'm not dead yet, but one of the blinds isn't working and they say it's not repairable. They will not replace it.

My Gen2 motor for Luminette curtains…

My Gen2 motor for Luminette curtains stopped taking commands. The blinds were purchased in 2018.
Hunter Douglas do not have spare parts and are saying I need to purchase new blinds. Roughly 3000$ for replacement. Now if my other patio door motor stops that's another 3000$.
So much for being the gold standard

If we could give less than one star

If we could give less than one star, that would be our choice. We have had terrible luck with Hunter Douglas blinds - in particular the top down/bottom-up variety. We purchased 13 blinds in total and have had to have the service man out about 8 times (so far). The service rep is great, unfortunately the warranty doesn’t cover the cost of the service call. If we had it to do over again, we would definitely NOT buy nor recommend this product. Super disappointed.

Horrible Warranty Process, Poor Quality

I'm very disappointed Hunter Douglas's warranty service/process. They will not supply or provide me with the defective parts while under warranty. I have diagnosed the issue and the repair is very straightforward, and rather than having the defective parts sent to me, or even available for purchase, they require me to undergo the time and expense of using a service center to ship the shade to another city to complete the repair and ship back. It would be much easier and less expensive if they would simply send me, or allow me to purchase the parts that would fit in a small padded envelope. I will now have to source parts on my own to effect a repair for an obvious, and observably frequent, defect. This is not the service I expected. Needless to say I will never buy Hunter Douglas blinds again and will encourage all within my influence to do the same.

Brilliant customer support

After contacting HunterDouglas UK (Hillary’s) about a problem with our Duette electric blind, we received a call from David ( 117319 GILLISE). He made an appointment to visit and look at the issue.
David was tried very hard resolve the blind issue in situ at our house, however this was not possible. He took the blind away to return to the factory for repair. To our surprise he returned with the fixed blind to be reinstalled within a week.
Brilliant customer service from David and HunterDouglas Blinds. Very professional and friendly, this is the service that would make us recommend this company to others and buy more blinds in the future, thankyou.

Dont buy these blinds unless you want constant problems and no feedback from the CEO who does not respond to emails. We purchased $40,000.00 of duette…

We purchased $40,000.00 of Elan duette translucent honeycomb blinds for our new home in NZ which were installed May 2023. We have had constant and still continuing problems from the day they were installed.
Blinds that stop working for no reason. Will not go up or down.
Blinds that reset themselves and stop half way down then will not move from that position.
Three Gen Motors/modums that blow and need to be replaced.
Cords that tangle.
Blinds click, clunk, grind, jump, slip when they are going up and down, before the motors stop working.
We have had months at a time with no window coverings at various stages in most rooms because the blinds break down constantly.
Initially, Luxaflex sent down one of their technicians from Wellington (NZ) who pulled the cover off the top of the blinds and tried to fix them on site.
This did not work and the offending blinds were then taken away fixed and returned. Some were replaced.
I asked at the time if other clients are having the same problems and they said no.
Considering the feedback on various sites re these blinds. I think their answer of No was not correct.
The 13 blinds we have in our home are constantly all having turns at breaking down, motors/ modums that blow and consequently stop working.
We have months where we have no window coverings in our master bedroom, where the moon shines in and we we can't sleep.
We have drop cloths on the carpet for months at a time to stop carpet fade.
Guthrie bowron whom we purchased the blinds through,to their credit have sent out a technician to either assess, fix or take away the offending blinds. But as I said to them, we need a personal consultant and an electrician just to keep these blinds in working order.
The time laps between the blinds breaking down, the technician coming out to assess the problem, the blind being taken away and eventually replaced all adds up to a non functioning product that does not work.
I have emailed the Hunter Douglas CEO and had no reply.

This is poor considering the blinds are promoted as top of the range window treatments.,
They certainly are definitely far from that.
Hunter Douglas need to either fix their product or take if off the market and refund in full the cost of these blinds plus for added expenses incurred to the purchasers of this second rate product.
It is not a top of the range window treatment as it is advertised, and causes a huge amount of continuous stress and grief to those who purchase it.
