After my father’s passing we were sorting out the estate and found he had taken out a $40,000 reverse mortgage which had quickly become $70,000 with very high interest.
We decided that we would make payments on it until the house sold.
We live in Australia and tried for 2 days to call but no one answered the phone,email just as bad generic response someone will respond shortly (still never have 3 months later)
Day 3 we got hold of a very rude woman who said she would get someone to call us back, you guesed it, never happened.
Cut a long story short eventually we got to the right person after 8 days.
Because we lived in Australia that said we could not make payments, after saying we would call the banking obsubmin they gave us some wrong information, then eventually the correct information which was very difficult as they wouldn’t use real me which you use for a passport but not with them apparently which would make too much sense I guess.
A NZ based solicitor ended up doing it for us.

Initially I had car finance with Heartland. Hopeless. Really disatisfied with their service (or lack thereof). When I finally paid the loan to rid myself of them I had to s=chase hard to get confirmation of my payment. Now 12 months later when applying for a new credit card I'm informed that they did not notify credit agencies of my clearing their account. I will never be involved with them again, they are not worth my time.

I paid of a car loan in March early and in July I still was showing active account on credit score. After calling them I was told i had to ask them to release the account, that's kind of bad behavior I feel and I do not trust anyone like this would not recommend........

Worst bank ever, they tried to keep term deposits without releasing the funds saying it's their policy automatically rolling over to another unfavorable terms for you.
You have to fight through banking onbursement for funds, this bank is a scam.
If you want hassle free life, go somewhere else

dont deal with them dont return calls hapless service and staff ,

What a waste of time.
No replies, no follow ups and no update.
Half of the staff is on leave all the time and my application was being passed to different people.

Easily the worst customer service of any finance company or bank I've dealt with. They were fine when the car dealer organized the loan, but after that they are almost impossible to get hold of.

Worst ever service provided. Mutiple call made by my partner still waiting for supervisor to approve a refund.. nearly a week still no action.

Paid off my loan 4 months ago with Heartland received the paid in full letter and the manager agreed it had

Got told my a lady on the phone I still owed $280 dollars ( which I didn't) and they wouldn't shut off my account on my credit record and marked with it defaults for 3 months straight

I've asked them multiply times now to mark it off as paid in November (which it was) Received emails from there managers stating they had done it, checked my credit score again today and the account is still active 4 months after it has been paid!!

Do not deal with this bank at all. They are a joke, and their staff are not much better.

Had a mortgage with heartland bank discharged and paid in full by our lawyer, heartland still charging interest on a mortgage that's been paid in full. As others have also said do not use this bank at all.

Just to add, our mortgage total was increasing everyday by approx $25 to $30 as well as the usual interest charge weekly. When I questioned heartland they said they recently had a change to there mortgage structures. Not the case with new mortgage provider.

We had loans of 1.4 million with this Bank from the onset there were errors and we were being charged more interest than we should of and had to arrange to be refunded, then when we sold our Business and paid off all our loans they charged the full 3 month penalty on all 3 loans then went and took out more payments for our loans that were already settled over 3 days and we have still not been refunded these amounts they should be called Heartless Bank and they should be ashamed of their performance

Tried to open a bank account for my daughter, I wanted it available so her extended family could gift her money for Xmas. Filled everything out 13th of December, followed up few times to see what was going on. They finally opened the account on the 22nd but stuffed it all up. They opened a joint account and sent me mobile access to nothing as it turned out. From the mobile app, I tied to open a call account for her but it just ended up opening one up for me so completely useless & no chance of her having a bank account for Xmas as Heartland have no support available.
Not sure these guys are worth it, you decide.

Very poor customer service . We have a loan with them and they randomly take more than one debit payment out of our account , and dont respond to explain why . Complaint to Ombudsman NZ as well - but they say that the bank has three months to respond. Basically this just empowers the banks to provide crappy service . Cant wait to flick this bank off

It's almost impossible to clearly follow through your loan transaction summary. Data is fragmented all over the place through the life of your loan and if you have a business loan or a mortage good luck keeping track on fees and actually having a bank account transaction history that goes from when you got the loan until it's fully paid. That's not possible. Also watch out for their floating business loans that they don't advise you that while you're getting it but then they start increasing your yearly interest. The worst lender I've ever seen. Stay away!

I will never use an bank that does not know the Constitutional rights and first amendments Of recording in public plus ring the police and wasting Public money resources for the police to come out for a man with a camera Absolutely disgusting, and they need to be redressed immediately. I wouldnt even give them a one star rating on trust pilot or Google reviews

Customer service is great lovely banking

they need a long hard look in the dictionary under customer service to get some idea what it means

Heartland bank to us put the heart back in banking, if your a rural business person with money to invest please do so with Heartland you will be sowing the seeds for other businesses in New Zealand and they are 100% NZ.
