Avoid these charlatans - Village Hats - they are ripping off customers for return fees.

UK law is clear. If a vendor sends you a faulty item THEY are required to refund both the outgoing postage if applicable and the return postage costs. The reason for this should be clear to anybody who is not a total halfwit. Company policies DO NOT EVER supercede UK distance selling regulations regardless of what their badly trained employees or deficient managerials might think. Any trader is fully responsible for ensuring that their products are fit for sale, match their sales description and are not faulty. If described as 57cm they should be that size within a very small margin. If they are described as new they should not have a stain on the peak.

I received an item that was too small. Not because I ordered the wrong size but because the item was described as being substantially larger than it was - around 2 inches difference in measured circumference. The item also had a stain from a finger mark on it. This is an item that is not as described and faulty.

The company return policy as of today includes no details of how they will deal with such scenarios and process refund for postage.

It is a scam for a company to avoid taking responsibility for their own activity and instead trying to shirk it off onto the customer.

On top of that, you have to process returns through 'rebound' - an outsourced process that will cost you at least best part of £5 to return a hat and that can takes weeks to process.

There is no way on god's earth I would ever deal with these people again, nor their Jaxon and James copy cat website.

Also, Village Hats are a limited company yet they avoid publishing this fact on their website which is illegal - all Ltd companies must publish their Ltd company name and number which is in this case is 06553811. You will need this to take then to the small claims court.

I’ve used Village Hats/Hats&Caps for a long time and recently had cause to return something as it was a tad too small (is my head getting fatter with age?) and the service was, as ever, brilliant. No fuss, no quibbling, no nonsense, just a rapid exchange and resolution - Hurrah!

Excellent service. I bought two items but unfortunately I had to return one of them because it was too big- no worries.!!!... I returned the item and it was immediately refunded. However the quality of both hats was very good quality and I will be buying from them again in the future. The staff on line was most helpful. Thank you.

I should not have to wait for the refund as it isn't my fault or my problem that the hat went missing so I should not have to wait for RM decision.
I was willing to except a replacement straight away but as time as gone on you seem to think that the outcome is dependent on RM communication with you to where the hat as gone.
As I said that ISN'T MY PROBLEM that's for you and RM to sort out.
SO TO BE CLEAR I DON'T NOW WANT A REPLACEMENT AS ANY GOOD WILL I HAD YOU HAVE DISTROYED.
SO Want a REFUND.

I contacted Hats & Caps for help with finding a hat to match my dress. I was really pleased with my purchase. It was a perfect match, a great fit & the Alice band didnt dig in either.

Brilliant foldable sunhat - excellent service . My query was answered immediately and with courtesy . Am not a huge fan of mail order , but the service was exceptional and I’d certainly recommend them .

First time buyer.
I bought a vented Aussie hat but ordered the wrong size. Village Hats were fab and sent a replacement within a few days. Can't wait to use my new hat trekking in Spain.
Product quality and Customer Service, top notch.

AKA Village Hats UK Ltd. Poor products and terrible customer service.
I ordered a straightforward white cotton/linen wide brim packable sun hat which was not suitable or as shown and described due to the fabric under the brim puffing out and looking ridiculous. Clearly poorly made. So far, so not great.
I requested a return for the reason stated above and was charged £4.65 for the return Royal Mail 48 hour tracked label and posted the item back on 21st May 2022. Royal Mail confirmed delivery was completed on 24th May 2022. It is now 29th May 2022 and no confirmation of receipt OR notification of refund has been provided.
A response to my emailed query as to what was going on stated that it can take 14 DAYS for a return to be received and then a further five days for a refund to be processed.
I will never buy from this company again and urge anyone considering a purchase from them to look elsewhere. AVOID.
