Pension transfer from National Grid.
On the whole our pension investment set up was dealt with efficiently and professionally. On a couple of occasions some of the standard letters that were issued caused unnecessary anxiety but these issues were quickly dealt with.

It turned out good in the end and you were always quick to contact me but I felt I had to do a lot of chasing of my own to make it happen. some of the issues were due to my schemes administration. Some of the updates stating it would probably not be possible to complete 4 weeks into my three month window were a little stressful. It was only sorted right at the last minute but I am satisfied with the final result and everyone I dealt to was very professional.

Groves Pension Solutions provided a first class service. The first time I approached them, they recommended waiting 18 months before I proceeded to do a transfer of my DB pension. Their advice was correct, as my provider increased the final value significantly. They are always very efficient and their advice is easy to understand. Their charges reflect the work involved and were reasonable in comparison with some of the quotes I received. I would definitely recommend Grove's.

Pension transfer and cash sum release can be a time-consuming process, but Grove Pension Solutions' handling of my case was excellent. They sent me regular progress updates, and this reassurance that things were happening behind the scenes made the whole process seem shorter. Their expertise in this complicated subject very much appreciated by me, and I have no hesitation in recommending their services.

Shocking Experience
The whole experience was not made easy. The telephone conversation was like an interrogation with the feeling I could not do what I wanted to do with my money. It has taken a year to sort out and I have potentially lost a lot of money due to grove not acting in a concise manner all as I believe they did not agree with my decision. My advise is do not use and find someone else to use. Made the whole thing unnecessarily stressful!!

We are disappointed to hear you are not happy with our services and found the whole process stressful.
We understand you had come to your own conclusion with what your wanted to do with your pension, however, the law states you need financial advice to transfer out of a defined benefit pension scheme. To enable us to give regulated financial advice we needed to conduct a thorough investigation, including asking a lot of questions regarding your personal circumstances. We do agree that Pension Transfers are not easy, they are incredibly complex to arrange and advise on, hence the depleting number of firms left in the UK that specialise in this.
About a year ago you approached us to look in to this and provided a transfer value with 7 out of the total 12 weeks remaining until your guarantee date expired, we did manage to give you our professional advice within this time frame, albeit it was not to transfer. You may not have liked our advice that you shouldn’t transfer your pension, however, as a specialist in DB transfers we agree with our regulator, the FCA, that transferring this type of pension scheme is not suitable for most people and the starting point should be to not do it. This is why we ask so many questions of our clients, to establish if there is a good reason to transfer and see if we can justify a positive recommendation (and evidence this to the FCA) – in your case we couldn’t. You decided not to accept our advice and insisted we continued with the transfer. A new report was sent to you, yet you didn’t respond to any of our attempts to contact you for 4 months, it turned out you were waiting for an updated transfer value from your pension, which we are unable to provide. This delay was nothing to do with us and incidentally, your transfer value went up so we don’t understand why you say you “have potentially lost a lot of money due to grove not acting in a concise manner”.
So, we apologise unreservedly that you found the whole experience stressful and not made easy, we can assure you that wasn’t our intention.
