I started using Goodreads to keep track of books I wanted to read, and for that it works fine. It's helpful to save everything in one place and come back to it later.

At the same time, the app feels a bit outdated, and I don't use it that often. Still, it does the basic job if you just want a simple way to track books.

I was only fourteen years old when I submitted a poem with other Authors in a book now called,A View From Afar, I know it was in the seventy's, I believe I paid a very low price,for the book back then, I often wonder,why it took until the Ninety's to get it published, because that is the year I seen on it, although I am not making any money from the book,it was nice,for them to give me a card saying I was an Author at that young age, and still living with my Parents, I have more poems that have never been seen before, I did submit two poems in other places, and received a Certificate of Merit.

As an author, I am unable to claim my work, even though I've tried time and time again, and made them aware of the issue repeatedly.

In order for an author to claim their name on Goodreads, they need a dedicated website which include their e-mail address. This is the only way you can verify your e-mail, even though most beginner authors will not have a website or the resources or need to create one.

The feedback they provide is generic, and it's very clear that they have little regard for the authors and users they build their business upon. My every experience with them left me feeling frustrated and disrespected.

There are many books that suddenly, although they have good reviews, Goodreads prevents from reviewing,(This book no longer meets our guidelines) especially if it's Holocaust revisionist.
They also hide reviews with many upvotes (examples are a reviewer named "N" and another named "A" and another who had 400 plus upvotes.
You can see their reviews only if you follow them or are friends with them.
If you unfollow them, you (and everyone else) cease to be able to read their reviews.
Shame.Shame.Shame.

This site is a total scam.
I paid for a weekly subscription of £9.95 plus £4.95 for what I don’t know. Was 2/3 of the way through a book and it won’t let me go any further unless I buy more.
What a rip off.
Says it’s easy to cancel but I can’t see how.
Anyone know how to do this please?

I’ve had a good reads account for more than 10 years with hundreds of books on there. Recently got a new phone and it locked me out and my email is linked to an old email I don’t have access to anymore. This hasn’t been an issue when I changed phones before or needed to log in before. Emailed them and they just keep saying make a new account… that’s their solution when I’ve 10+ years of tracking books and hundreds that I’ve taken note that I want to read. I don’t have any payment info or anything on there but they’re so unhelpful and won’t get back to me. Really poor form for a company that I thought would care more

This Website is the best!
There are cool challenges (Reading challenges), and there isn't a book I didn't found at the site. The design needs a Update but that is all the critic. Super Site!

The platform is overwhelmed with racketeers and extortionists! Not only you will lose your money, But you will also pay with it for degenerates to abuse your inspirations.

Lacks some things but in general is a good App.

Poor app,not at all user friendly - you shouldn’t need to google each time how to add books in your reading challenge. Given up now as wasting precious reading time trying to work with it.
Good idea but in reality fails & needs a major overhaul.

It's fun but ye really need to stop reccomending booktok smut to me, I am NOT reading that. Like it gets reccomended even though I read performative stuff like the communist manifesto and john locke... babe c'mon, no.
Also "such material" got reccomended to me when I was still under 18?! Wild. Yous should really get rid of those banners (yk, 'top 100 romantasy 😍' 'top 100 valentine's picks 😍') cus for some reason i cant get rid of them bruhhhhh....

If you are an author, avoid posting on this site as it allows trolls, and if you complain, you might get a snarky response.

I love reading and I love books. And that's why I love everything that has to do with reading and books. But the Goodreads app is a complete sucker. The photo app for scanning the book number often doesn't work. And if you want to set a new password by having it sent to your email, you keep getting stuck on the security code. And to ask a question, you have to log in. Frustrating.

I know there's a lot of hate for goodreads but I personally love it. I love the early 00s vibe, I don't find any bugs on the regular and I enjoy rating my books, tracking and keeping up with my friends' reading as well as my own

If I could I'd give 0 stars. They advertise "no pay" "binge watch to the end". But you get halfway through the story and suddenly it's "but points to continue" from $4.99 to get 500 points - what'll that get? another 2-3 minute chapter? - to $149.99 for a yearly subscription. Sorry, got better things to spend my money on. And, I don't have a problem spending $5 to actually read an entire book.

Dreadful company - act like fascists, all-powerful, then enabled a racist hate campaign of harassment against me (10,000 words of it over 18 months!) by an obsessive malicious individual one of their socalled 'top reviewers'(self-appointed provider of free copy, 12000 reviews for 12 years) SO they sided against me and the defamatory, libellous, vicious and vindictive and racist deranged hate is STILL there after my books on 'BADreads' as they refuse to remove it. SHAME ON THEM. I very much hope to take Goodreads & its mummy Amazon to court in the USA eventually, after legal action against my cyberstalker who spewed 10,000 words of abuse at me after MY books on Goodreads. A David and Goliath battle, sure - but who won that? I now know a GREAT many authors have faced similar from the odious author-hating enablers of hate speech and harassment.

I really like Goodreads and find myself using it quite a lot, but for some reason, both the mobile app and the website look like something from the early 00s.

Lots of bugs, lots of features that could easily be improved if Goodreads only showed them some love. But overall, I think it's a very handy app/website for tracking and encouraging your reading habits.

I have been using Goodreads forever. While it's a great nostalgic little remnant of my book reading journey, I certainly wish it had better UI and was more phone friendly.
