Go Insurance is a specialist travel insurance provider for Australian travellers. We do one thing. Not a bank, not an airline, not a general insurer with a travel product on the side. Travel cover is the whole business.

What we cover

Our leisure travel insurance comes in three cover levels - Go Basic, Go Plus and Go Elite - as single trip or annual multi-trip policies. Go Ultra sits above them for higher-value trips. We also write group travel insurance, corporate travel insurance and inbound travel insurance for visitors to Australia, along with specialist cover for sailing, destination weddings and dental travel.

Every policy includes overseas medical expenses and repatriation, personal liability, COVID-19 overseas medical and travel expenses, and 24-hour emergency assistance. Dependent children and grandchildren aged 20 and under travel at no extra cost with an insured adult.

Build the policy around your trip

Cancellation, personal property, travel disruption and legal expenses are optional modules you can add or remove. You can raise or lower your excess at purchase. Add only the extensions your trip needs - snow sports, golf, water sports, cruise or business. Take out what you do not need and the premium comes down. We call it bespokability.

Existing medical conditions and older travellers

Many existing medical conditions are assessed automatically during the quote, with a clear answer before you commit and no extra cost where eligible. Conditions outside those parameters go to our underwriting team for individual review, where an additional premium may apply. We consider travellers up to age 89 through automated quoting or in-house medical screening, and beyond that by individual referral. We have a medical specialist on staff in Brisbane.

Sports, activities and adventure travel

A long list of activities is automatically covered on an amateur or recreational basis - hiking, cycling, snorkelling, surfing, kayaking, bungy jumping, quad biking and more. Snow sports, scuba diving, golf and water sports are available as extensions rather than reasons to decline you. Snow sports is charged per day on snow, so a few days on the slopes during a longer trip does not cost you a full-trip extension.

Cancel For Your Reason (CFYR)

Available on Go Ultra, Cancel For Your Reason reimburses up to 75% of your non-refundable trip costs, to a maximum of $50,000, when you cancel for a personal reason standard cancellation cover does not include. It must be added when the policy is issued, within three days of your first trip payment, and at least seven days before departure. You need to cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure. It does not cover cancellations caused by events outside your control such as government actions, travel bans or border closures.

War and armed conflict

Most travel insurance excludes war and armed conflict entirely. We do it differently. If conflict breaks out after you have left home and you are staying in or transiting through the country, medical, repatriation and personal accident cover applies automatically at no extra cost. You can also add War and Armed Conflict – Additional Expenses, which covers re-routing and extra accommodation to get you out of the affected area, to a safe location, onward by another route, or home early. Conditions apply, including that the area was not already subject to an official government warning against travel.

Buying a policy

Quote and buy online in a few minutes, or through a travel agent or broker using Oskar, our policy issuance platform. Cover is issued as soon as you pay, with your Certificate of Insurance and policy documents sent electronically. Group and corporate policies are quoted individually by our team rather than bought online.

Cancel a Go Leisure policy within 21 days of issue and we will refund everything you paid.

Three things need to be true: your trip has not started, no claim has been made, and you cancel within the 21 days.

After that you can still cancel any time in writing. We refund the unused portion of your premium, less our administration costs and any taxes or charges we cannot recover.
