AVOID this hotel as it's not a proper 4 star hotel and not worth anything like they charge
I booked hotel grand parco del sole as it had been a dream of my partner since she was seven years old to see Pompeii etc. This was a 60th Birthday trip and the website said it was a four star hotel and the website pictures etc, looked like it was very good, the restaurant sounded good and also the bar and pool area.
When we arrived the room we were given was nothing like the one we had seen and had been described on the website. Obviously we complained to reception and they moved us to a better room.
We were going to eat in the hotel in the first night and when we asked at reception we were told there was a menu for 30 euro each, but when we went down to the restaurant to look at the menu, we were told that there was only a buffet, I said that reception had said there was a menu but the man at the entrance just said buffet only.
We went to the bar to get a drink before we went out to look for a restaurant, but the so called gin and tonic was like floor cleaner, so we just left them, however we did speak to some people who were on a Jet2 all inclusive holiday and they told us that you could get lamb or pork chops in the restaurant but they were rubbish and full of bones. I am very surprised that Jet2 offer this hotel for their holidays as I doesn't say much about Jet2 standards
We found restaurants around the town and even the really good one that we went to on our last night, were all cheaper than the 30 euro buffet that the hotel offered.
The breakfast was a buffet but fairly OK standard, the young guys topping it up and clearing plates etc, were all very polite and efficient, apart from when the man in the cream jacket, who was there most mornings tried to tell them what to do, which they certainly didn't need as they were better when he wasn't there.
The Housekeeping were hopeless, the sheets and towels were clean, but the toilet needed a deep clean and looked like no bleach had been used in it for ages, also the sink which was also very cracked, as it was so old and not cleaned properly. Often the bathroom smelt of sewage when we returned. We stayed for a week and the communal area carpets were not vacuumed once.
Massimo, the lady and the reception team were excellent, but unfortunately the hotel is very poorly/badly managed. There was a manager/director there but he mainly seemed to be walking round outside, he certainly didn't notice that the carpets hadn't been vacuumed for a week and he certainly wasn't doing any emails, as both myself and the travel agent had sent emails prior to booking but we never got a reply.
I may have been in business for a lot of years and even had an interest in a hotel years ago, but you don't need any of that experience to see how badly this hotel is run and what a low standard it is, I would say 2-3 stars at best but then still not a good one and doesn't even have tea/coffee making facilities in the room which you would find in a basic B & B.
You can obviously see that I am not at all happy and certainly not impressed with this hotel and the poor way it is run. As I said this was meant to be a special trip that was spoilt because the hotel is not at all what it pretends to be on its website and certainly isn't worth anywhere near what they charge. I will be using Trust Pilot, TripAdvisor and any other sites I can find to make sure people know what this hotel is really like.
4 weeks ago the Travel agent that booked this hotel for us has sent a complaint to the hotel but they have not bothered to reply to them, so this just proves how little this hotel cares about their guests.
