Impressed by Matthew Dancey's speed and level of care...

I found Matthew Dancey to be extremely helpful and quick to assess the amount of damage to the property caused by Storm Goretti and other storms this winter. Put in a subsidence claim in Sept/Oct…

Put in a subsidence claim in Sept/Oct 2024, was informed by GHG that work would be completed by April-June 2025.
Last year, we had a very long duration of dry and sunny weather from March through to late summer, so I expected all work to be done.
However, it is now twelve months further down the line and work is still not complete.
After speaking with both parties, I can say that communication between GHG and their building contractor Jacksons has not been the best.
I feel that GHG possibly take on too much work across the country and don't prioritise completing work for existing customers over securing new work... or at least, that's how it seems.
They possibly need to employ more subsidence specialists so that the ones they do have aren't overworked, the specialist assigned to my case works very long hours.

Tataramoa storm damage

I cannot recommend Matthew enough

I cannot recommend Matthew at GHG highly enough. From the outset, he was incredibly thorough, professional and reassuring during what had been a very stressful period following storm damage to our property.

Matthew came out to the house personally and carried out a detailed and meticulous investigation. He took the time to properly understand the issues we had been dealing with, asked thoughtful questions, and clearly explained the process at every stage. His expertise was evident throughout, but what really stood out was his calm, personable manner he was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Clarity, Care and Consideration from start to finish.

For me the thought of making an insurance claim was stressful. In fact the care and consideration shown to me by Mathew and Jonathan of GHG solutions proved me quite wrong. They explained the process every step of the way so not only did I feel I knew what was going on but( I really appreciated this), I felt supported.

Highly Recommended

Nothing but delay tactics and lies. They should be ashamed of themselves leaving a disabled customer in such a terrible situation!

In April 2025 we had a burst mains water leak the pipe was under our house we had purchased the house without this knowledge, and wasn't informed by the water company SWW. The whole kitchen and downstairs was ruined floors kitchen and everything. I am a wheelchair user so you can imagine the devastating impact it had on me and my family but especially using a wheelchair it was impossible with the floors bowing tipping my wheelchair in places.
We were appointed Marcus Davis to our property and he did his assessment and promised to get it sorted as soon as possible.
That wasn't the truth and he subjected us to many calls telling us, that the strip out works would be a fortune for the company, as a customer I was made to feel guilty like it was my fault when it wasn't! He made me feel so uncomfortable and intimated on the calls that I asked for everything to be done in writing via email he would ignore my emails and eventually calls I was often told he was on holiday whilst the other person was holding the phone I knew he was indeed sat at his desk! Months went by and I told him, I needed the floor sorting as soon as possible I exchanged quotes and got many builders in to give me a quote on his request over and over again he demanded this, sending kitchen quotes to then be told they wanted unit by unit and so on, Wren the kitchen company was sick of me asking each week for something else for a quote taking off certain cupboards that they refused to pay for that were damaged. To then be told our living room floor needed another dry out by the Richfords team who were excellent) they would be carrying out multiple assessments, and asking us what was the outcome we had no answers and would say we have been left at that point for over 5 months! They said there was nothing more they could do for the floors and that they needed to be replaced. Marcus once again instructed them to arrange another visit 6 months later ! Asking if our house was damp when Richfords told them no it wasn't damp at all, it was caused by the flood getting Richford’s to carry out a damp assessment in our home to get out of paying for the floor in the living room.
Each week we would ring Marcus our loss adjuster who would be sat at his desk saying I fail to see where this quote has come from and then refused to pay for other floors that were damaged because of the flood. I understand you need to save the company money as a loss adjuster but as a result of that you should be more professional and not be leaving a family especially someone disabled in this situation. It's outrageous the treatment we went through each week, he'd change tactics one week he was paying for the damaged living room floor the next he wasn't paying for it then he said the kitchen didn't need replacing and so on. It came to a point in the August that temporary flooring was put down MDF! To dry it out some more?! 7 months later we were DONE with this situation and I'd had enough! He promised to do a cash settlement to then tell us we had to wait once again for him to submitt more paper work by month 9 I'd had enough and I was at breaking point multiple phone calls to him and lies saying he would pay my husband the money directly on a Monday in his bank account by the Wednesday. Wednesday came and we asked again when would we be paid because by then the floor had started to rock in areas (SENT HIM EMAILS) my son had put his foot through the MDF boards this floor we couldn't mop it was so unsafe and unsanitary, I really had enough he tried his manipulation once again by telling me he wouldn't speak to me just my husband after I told him this wasn't acceptable or safe! He then suggested our builder should carry out the works and then they would pay! Can you imagine instructing a builder without payment I said absolutely not would any builder do the work without payment, but we needed the floor safe something they had put down for us in August! I'd had enough at this point and suggested he paid for the builder to just do our kitchen as it was so unsafe and to leave the living room floor) he then said no if it needs doing our contractors can be instructed I said no absolutely not waiting any longer I said 9 months Marcus we have waited! My son 3 yrs had hurt his foot and I was devasted. I couldn't live with it anymore. He then said our builder would be directly paid and not us, I was absolutely fine with that and when it came to 5 days of waiting for the payment one builder had already pulled out after 9 months of being messed about I contacted my insurance and made a complaint on Marcus unprofessional behaviour! And how my son had seriously hurt himself with the temporary flooring they provided! The following day Marcus rung me to tell me he didn't care I had made a complaint about him. Probably because he would get away with it. Avoid any insurance attached to GHG solutions they should be ashamed of themselves!

Claim for destructive badgers

I have had a very destructive problem with badgers undermining my patio with tunnels and raising the paving. Initially the Insurance company said that I was not covered. Bonnie Whitaker and Jonathan Buxton worked diligently on my behalf and the claim has been agreed. I would absolutly recommend their company GHG Solutions

Declined my claim based on assumption…

Declined my claim based on assumption and no investigations. Taken insurer to FOS who upheld my complaint and said that GHG should have undertaken investigations

Further problems, but same response.

This is an extension of an earlier review following further issues in the house and now Churchill's refusal to get someone else out to undertake a review. At different times virtually all the cupboard doors in the kitchen are now prone to jamming, and the water from dishes just sits on the draining board rather than running off into the sink. As far as GHG are concerned this is just wear and tear, though the units were only installed in 2013!
In addition, the bathroom and bedroom doors upstairs upstairs are now also jamming, and it is becoming more and more of a challenge to get into and out of the bathroom.

Currently I'm going through a claim of…

Currently I'm going through a claim of a house fire, the only good thing to come from it is a loss adjuster in which he was referred by a friend, I've paid my contents insurance for the last 6 years, on time every time and carried the same policy with me to each home and now that I'm actually going through an stressful time, ghg solutions have lied to me about my policy so far, they've ignored me, said my emails were blank and have just taken what seems like forever, I feel like my life has been on hold for so long as my claim says I can ask for an interim payment and although they've said it's been approved, it's been over a month since I've heard from them or even seen my interim payment.

The cleaning company they appointed to restore or replace my items have made matter worse by 'losing' some of my items, giving me someone else's items and not even documented my items correctly.
They sent my electronics back that still had carbon on them, they sent clothes back that were licked by the fire and still smell smokey and they even rejected my review when Infact I was being honest and genuine.

I just want to move on with my life but I feel like I'm stuck in this limbo waiting to replace my contents and get into a home that is mine as I'm currently staying with the inlaws.

Very supportive.

Having been worried that I might be suffering from subsidence as suggested by someone I thought I could trust. I panicked and contacted Churchill who then passed it to GHG Solutions. Having spent several worrying weeks I was very lucky to be contacted for a video tour by Mike . I felt from the beginning of the call supported and that he was there to help. He didn’t rush me when I struggled with the technology to get us connected. He investigated all of the things that had been pointed out to me and found no subsidence but just thermal expansion cracks. He was so calm patient and friendly, when I was feeling so stressed for which I am very grateful. I would highly recommend Mike and his company. So thank you very much Mike
