Bought walking shoes from sports direct princess street Edinburgh about 4 weeks and the have holes and worn through the soles on the bottom they are not fit for purpose, took them back to shop and said they wouldn’t accept them didn’t have a receipt but the sales assistant wasn’t very help and was extremely rude.

Bought a pair of Gelert walking shoes on line from Sports Direct during lock down. After 4 months use the soles have worn so much that they let in water. The fabric, sold as waterproof, let in water. Tried to contact customer services, no way of making a complaint then read the small print. Sports Direct own the brand, do I say anymore!

I bought a pair of Gelert Horizon hiking boots in 2018 after an ankle injury to ensure that I do not sprain that ankle again. It was very reasonably priced and it was comfortable once i added an insole. I made a few hikes in 2019 (maybe 5 times) but in 2020 I could not do any hikes due to Covid. In 2021 i went for a short hike and the entire sole came loose on BOTH sides. Wore it less than 10 times.

I bought a pair of waterproof walking shoes. After 3 weeks of wear both soles have worn through and are now letting in water. They are horrendously uncomfortable and have not worn in.

I took a risk not buying from one of the bigger brands. It didn’t pay off. The shoes were cheap but unwearable.- waste of money .

I bought a pair of Gelert walking shoes that were advertised as waterproof. I was pleased to find out that the uppers were indeed waterproof after some walking in wet grassy fields this summer. However, the soles are paper thin and I can feel every sharp stone underneath. Furthermore, the sole has now started to part company with the rest of the shoes so I have had to glue it down. This should not have happened as the shoes are only 4 months old and have been used on less than ten occasions. I will not be buying this poor quality brand again.

I purchased a pair of ladies waterproof trousers size 8 - the waist is on the large size but elastic so that is fine. But the sizing otherwise is way off - the crotch is very low and the leg length is about 8 inches too long for me. I am 5’5” so am used to leg length of trousers sometimes being too long for me, but these would be too long for a 6 foot lady.

I bought my Gelert walking shoes last summer for £20.00 from Sports Direct and can't believe how comfortable they are. From the off, they never gave me blisters. They are stylish and brilliant value for money. I highly recommend their waterproof shoes, as even in rain and snow, they have been the best value for money shoes I have ever worn.

I've just purchased a pair of Gelert Soft Shell Waterproof boots from Sports Direct. I had to buy new laces at the store as the Gelert ones were too short, you couldn't even make a bow out of them. I came here to look at reviews and none of them are favourable. I will be returning these boots tomorrow as I need good, reliable waterproof boots and these seem to be none of those things.

I've been camping for over 20 years and I've been putting all types of tents up.
I tried to put a Chinook 4 man tent up and it was a nightmare. The instructions were possible. When you buy a £200 tent you expect the brand to spend 5 cents to have decent instructions. I will never buy from them again. Useless! Avoid at all costs!!!

Comfortable but the sole wore off mine in 40km or less. Would not recommend

Initially thought my Horizon boots were a good deal at £30 but worn 4 times now and they are falling apart and leaking.. there is a "waterproof" label on the side! Don't believe it... I wish I hadn't bought these and not binned my old Salomon. I know I'll be wasting my time back at SD.. No box or receipt.

Like many others my Gelert walking boots looked good and were comfortable. But one shoe squeeked a lot when walking, and recently the glue between the sole and upper started to come apart, so they’re no longer waterproof. I contacted the manufacturer and they said I had to take it back to the store. I took it back to the Brent Cross store today and was told off for not bringing it back sooner (despite the store being closed for lockdown). Apparently they’ve been open a month and because I’ve just found time to take it in, it’s an issue.

Anyway, they gave me a credit note and I have bought a different brand so hopefully it’s better quality.

Looks like Gelert is SportsDirects own brand. My advice to them is build better quality boots so customers don’t have issues, instead of doing me a ‘favour’ by allowing me to return faulty boots which are covered by the manufacturers warranty!

Have a pair of leather walking boots, bought Christmas 2019 but been wearing since October. Supposedly half-price at £32.99- but almost always seem to be around this price. Have mainly been used on pavement (occasionally farm tracks/grass) and have covered 920 miles- usually hope for 3p cost per mile, so 1100 miles looks possible but soles now thin, but not yet leaking. Good value, comfortable but I prefer 3/4 boots.

I was given a pair of gelert leather walking boots. The foot area fits fine, I left the high ankle cuff loose but laced. I'm a professional dog walker and cover 6-8 miles hiking daily.
These boots destroyed my tendon and the sides of my leg after 3 miles. Not rubbed or blistered but deep bruising. Even after getting them off my feet it aches to flex or touch my ankle. I've been hiking the last 7 years daily, this is the first time I've suffered a boot related injury and I've gone through lots of boots over the years.
These boots are not designed for women even in the small sizes.

Do not buy useless shoes,l could only walk about an hour before your feet really hurt, not comfortable total waste,not water proof. Fed up of sports direct won’t be shopping there again.

Bought the waterproof boots from Sportsdirect for walking the dog. They are comfortable, but absolutely useless, not waterproof at all. Thankfully they weren't too expensive, but now I have to buy another pair.

I bought Gelert "Waterproof" walking boots from Sports Direct. They've been adequate for walking, but are not in any way waterproof... Despite having that printed on them 3 times! They've always let water in since day one. I've done around 200 miles in them now and have just had to avoid going out on wet days or spraying them with ridiculous amounts of after market waterpoofing spray. Disappointed... But at least they were cheap (around £26), and lasted me about 18 months.

Recently they have started to crack and fray down the fabric on the sides, so I have just replaced with goretex Salomons.

Bought 'walking shoes' in October, soles worn and leaking by January. Uppers are good but soles very thin and you can feel what you are walking over. Sports Direct shop where I bought them have been closed during lockdown and have ignored me when contacting them online. If I could give zero stars I would.

Between Gelert and Sports Direct their customer service stinks. Hardly worn mine and the heels leak and have split. Walking boots they are not, I'd get more protection in flip flops. Shame because they are comfortable.
Very very disappointed and angry as they will not own the problem nor do anything about it. Shocking!!!!

I’ve had 2 pairs of these boots now and they both did the same thing, after a couple of months wearing them for a daily dog walk the soles get tiny splits/holes and they start to leak. They literally suck up the water as you walk and after only a few minutes the inside of my boots and my feet were soaking wet. I thought it was my fault at first and possibly the way I walked that did this but after reading all these reviews that say they had exactly the same issue it’s obviously a design fault. Sort it out Gelert and sports direct stop ripping people off by selling them crap boots!
