They have my money, But never rcvd table

I ordered an expensive table that was suppose to have been delivered to my home. Instead, the expected date keeps getting moved back, so far, I have been told Mar 31 then April 2, then 9, then 11 and NOW the 22nd!! According to the transit records it is sitting in a warehouse in OHIO for over a week. And NO one, absolutely No one, can explain why it’s not being delivered. The 2 times I was actually able to talk w CS I could tell something is amiss. They have either damaged it or lost it. Horrible experience Horrible customer service

Don't buy the extended warranty

Extended Warranty, if you need a part it takes "12-15 weeks" and terrible customer service. It was just after one year, a recliner I paid $1,380.00 with "extended warranty" decided to stop working right during my time of healing for my knee replacement. I bought this recliner specifically for my knee surgeries and failed. It took a couple of weeks for a tech to come out, he said I needed a part, then received an email it would take "12 to 15 weeks" to receive the part and to call and schedule when the part arrives as it comes from overseas. It's week 13 right now, I called again and they said wait until it has been 15 weeks as the part has not arrived.

While we work closely with them, repairs involving replacement parts are dependent on part availability, and in some cases, items manufactured outside of the U.S. can require additional time for parts to arrive.

We ordered a mattress online and were clearly told it would be ready for pickup at the Mt. Pleasant location on Wednesday. Based on their confirmation, my husband drove 2 hours from Grand Rapids—a 4-hour round trip—only to be told the mattress was never even put on the truck from Auburn Hills.

No one called. No one emailed. Nothing. They just let us make the trip knowing full well the order wasn’t there.

This isn’t a small oversight—it’s complete incompetence and a total disregard for customers’ time. Four hours wasted because no one could be bothered to do the bare minimum and communicate.

When I asked them to at least make it right with delivery (since this was entirely their mistake), they refused “for no reason” and instead offered a $100 gift card…for a future purchase. After this experience, why would anyone want to spend more money here?

Mistakes happen—but this level of disorganization, lack of accountability, and weak attempt at resolution is unacceptable. Save yourself the time, gas, and frustration and go somewhere else.

I would give them a zero star if…

I would give them a zero star if possible. My experience with Garden White’s customer service was surprisingly poor. Response times were long, and when someone finally replied, the answers were vague and didn’t address the actual problem. I had to repeat myself several times, and it felt like no one took ownership of the issue. A company in this industry should prioritize communication and accountability, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case here. I hope they improve, because right now the service is far below expectations.
I won’t be purchasing from them again.

Worst company on the planet

Terrible horrible customer service. Told things that never happened, returned an order and was sent back and forth and waited an hour for someone to open the loading dock to take back out crappy order. On top of it we were charged a $250 restocking fee

Defective Adjustable Base on Queen Size bed

The Adjustable Bed Base is not aligned with the sideboards. Whenever the based is raised, it does not lower straight. There is always space on the opposite side of the bed frame. A technician came out on 12-1-2025 and checked every thing by using some type of a monitor. He stated that everything was in line. Before he left and raised the base upward, but when it was lowered, he did adjust the base a "little bit." Every time I adjust the base, I have to push the mattress back in alignment. I am 82 y/o with mobility problems, so this a problem for me. I purchased the bedroom set on 11/29/25, in the clearance center; that could possibly be the reason why I'm having problems even though I paid nearly $3,700 for the set. When I called customer service and explained the situation, I was told immediately that the only way I could get a replacement is that I would have to pay additional monies, etc. I understand when you purchase furniture from clearance, you are receiving that's been on "display" and virtually a person is receiving furniture that has been used for customers to "try out." I recently purchased a sofa set from clearance that is an excellent buy. This is why I decided to try purchasing the bedroom set. I am a retiree on a pension and cannot afford to "repurchase" another power adjustable base. Also, your customer service department are not very pleasant to talk with. This will be my last purchase with your store.

I was mattress shopping

I was mattress shopping, found the one I wanted and the salesperson that helped me and i liked, was suddenly never available. Ended up getting talked into a much higher priced mattress. Also sold me an overpriced cooling mattress pad that not only in not cooling, but is so slippery, your sheets do not stay on bed. Over $200 and I don't even use it. They and their Synchrony bank financings are a bunch of scammers. Will NEVER buy from them again.

Gardner White is VERY customer…

Gardner White is VERY customer unfriendly.
Purchased a Lazy Boy recliner that squeezed when reclining. After finally getting a tech to come out for service, I was informed it was “normal”. Bye the way, it is not normal…I asked Lazy Boy. Still unhappy, I attempted to return the item.
Was informed that return policy requires item to be returned within 7 days, always with a 25% restocking FEE. Even if you
Purchase another item in their store, they still charge you the restocking fee.
Buyer beware, you better be confident that furniture is exactly what you want.
Note, after the purchase, attempting to exchange the item is when the salesperson stated it’s in your contract.
A salesperson with dignity and integrity would have mentioned it at point of sale.
Note: I mentioned that they had lost a customer for life, she didn’t flinch or care.

Zero Stars

Update: After looking at several replies from Gardner White as well as the reply to my complaint, it seems no matter what that the company is for themselves and not the customer! So here is my reply:

I truly hope you do use our reviews to do better by your company. I don’t want anyone else to experience what we have! How unfortunate it is that we have to continue paying for a couch that is a piece of junk and more than likely won’t last through our financing. Although you “understand” how frustrated we are, your company will not do anything to fix the issue. That is also very unfortunate! Going forward I will not shop with your company and I will highly discourage friends and family to shop with Gardner White.

If I could give zero stars I would! After having a beautiful leather sectional for 10 years, we decided to downsize. Biggest mistake and regret! After having our leather couch for only 2 months, we have a scratch on the arm that is also cracking. Gardner White will not do anything to fix the issue although we bought the extended warranty. I was asked to send pictures of the problem to which I got a text reply that said along the lines of “scratches aren’t covered”. The sentence was not only a text and unprofessional at that, but it also didn’t even have punctuation at the end. Just comes to show how valued their customers are! Let this review be a warning to those looking for new furniture, don’t make the same mistake we did!! Go somewhere that values their customers and their quality!!

3 out of 4 chair broke in less than 2…

3 out of 4 chair broke in less than 2 months. The skyline counter height table and 4 chair set is so gorgeous and looks fantastic at out breakfast nook BUT it's useless. We enjoyed this set for 17 months and all of a sudden 1 chair broke its back. I just sat there as always and the back gave way. I thought maybe it was my fault for leaning back "quickly". But then, 2 weeks after that, the second chair back gave way! and unbelievably, 3 weeks later the third chair back also gave way! We are a couple in our 30's weighting less than 160lb, so it can't be our weight or being too rough. We take really good care of our furniture and never had a broken chair in our lives! This chairs are REALLY BAD QUALITY. I disassembled one of the chair to see what is going on (we are both engineers ourselves) and found out the screw used to join back and seat of the chair was broken in half. A very thin and bad quality screw.
We hadn't bought the extended warranty because we thought a set of chairs should at least last 5 years without any issue.... but it was not the case. And when I contacted Gardner White to tell them this is a design flaw, I could only get that the set is out of the 1year manufacturing warranty.
I won't be buying anything else from this brand or from Gardner White. It's the same chair brand as other sellers sell but overpriced and they really don't add any value if they don't stand by this desing flaw... It's not just a regular warrant claim.

Mass service I ever received

Michelle from the g w home store was just amazing. Superknowledgeable about everything she gave me perfect advice that fit my room very well answered all questions. And even some of the ones that didn't even have. They have a beautiful layout here.Everybody can find something can't stop raving enough about all my family members to go that they get something. I'\nVe been to a lot of different furniture companies and nothing was like the experience I got from here textbook.We need more people like her in the business. We had a non memory foam matress for…

We had a non memory foam mattress for over 20 years and decided to purchase a new mattress. The salesman consistently pushed us to buy a memory foam bed saying it was much better. Well, that is definitely not the case. Now, less than one year later, we are experiencing very uncomfortable sleeping, back aches, etc... We were never told it was for side sleepers. We are not. We went online and chatted offering to just obtain a discount if we returned it and bought a new non memory foam mattress (attempting to be reasonable for the junk we bought), however no discount was offered and basically told no thank you. After thousands of dollars for furniture, kitchen, living room, bedroom and more, no reasonableness. Well, say good bye to this very rich buyer. Stay away from the inexperienced salesman that obviously doesn't know the products well. Also, stay away from a greedy company that is unreasonable with product sales when you have been a loyal customer. I will be sure to pass this one on to all that I know including these readers. For reference, your mattress did come with our 180-Day Mattress Pledge Guarantee, which allows for an exchange within that window. Your order is now outside of that timeframe, which is why an exchange or discount wasn’t able to be offered during your recent chat.

Sub standard material

A year and a half ago I spent over $3000 on a three piece sectional with a footstool. The material is pilling terribly! I also bought the extended warranty. The material is so low-grade the whole thing just looks a mess so I bought furniture covers. The warranty company said that they cover if somebody spills something they will come and clean it off within a few days or if the framework of the furniture did not hold up. Gardner White had nothing to say except for I’m sorry it’s a 12 month warranty. (This is my third set of living room furniture from Gardner White in five years. The first set I gave to my daughter and bought a new one. The second set I moved to an apartment that I rent out to professionals and bought a new one. The third set, and never ever again am I buying from Gardner White!! There are little snags around the pillows on the back of the couch and the material is just cheap as cheap can get!!! The woman at Gardner White told me to call my warranty. I explained that I did and that they don’t cover the material. The 3000+ dollar furniture lasted less than a year and a half. Gardner White did NOT EVEN OFFER to send anybody out to understand that this material is sub standard. She said “ oh, I’ve never heard of that.” they could’ve at least sent somebody out to see it and done something to make it right!!!

Purchased a new mattress and purchased mattress cover to get the sleep guarantee... mattress arrived and had large hump in middle of bed and sink holes on both sides... they claim after sending people out nothing wrong... I've been to chiropractor 6 times since buying mattress and 2 months later they ate still refusing to honor sleep guarantee

There have been two service inspections completed on your mattress, and both found no manufacturer defect. On a king mattress, it’s normal for the regular sleeping areas to show some level of depression while the center section, which isn’t slept on, remains higher. This difference is expected and not considered a defect by the manufacturer.

The delivery drivers leave packing…

The delivery drivers leave packing debris all over. They deliver the furniture down the street and you get the gargbage And when you call them they hang up.

Awful Experience

I wish I could give 0 stars. Do not trust any sales associates at this store; they will add things to your bill and override any concerns. We purchased a mattress, base, and bedding on 7/24/2025 - it is now 9/16/2025 and no one can tell me where my bedding set is. It is incredibly frustrating to talk to anyone at this store because they don't talk to each other nor do they leave notes on the customer file for ease in discussing concerns with a different employee. They also will be reluctant to help you if they weren't your sales associate, even if your original sales associate isn't it. I will never shop here again.

Ordered a Kitchen Table and 4 Chairs

Ordered a Kitchen Table and 4 Chairs - it took almost 2 months to arrive. All the furniture came in one box with literally 500 pieces that had to be assembled. I have bought furniture online and at IKEA where there was customer friendly assembly required but this was definitely factory level assembly that was needed. To add insult to injury a chair was damaged and even though I paid for the warranty / service plan GW refuses to replace the chair free of charge. Gardner White furniture is the absolute worst I have experienced in 40 years. I miss Art Van! GW should exit the furniture business. The "family" should be ashamed to show their faces in Michigan! Seriously...

Response from GW provides delivery option of "white glove" service for $170. This was never explained upfront in the purchasing process and is ridiculous. No one should have to "bribe" a professional furniture retailer into delivering more than wood pieces and fasteners (without all proper tools for assembly). If GW wants to be an IKEA style assemble yourself furniture outlet than they should take lessons from IKEA on how to do so.

Finally, after paying the GW "bribe" fee for "white glove" assembly service the delivery crew, on 7/20/2025, who are not trained for factory level assembly of the product and definitely overbooked with delivery stops to rush to finally assembled the chairs incorrectly (components installed upside down / backwards) exposing wood screws in plain site and resulting in wobbly unlevel legs that rock back and forth on a kitchen floor. Shoddy and unprofessional. Absolutely pathetic even with "white glove" service!

To help clarify a few details: The delivery option selected at the time of purchase was our free doorstep delivery, which does not include in-home assembly. We do offer a white glove delivery service for $169.99 that includes full assembly and setup, and while that service was added after delivery, it does not retroactively change the initial delivery experience.

Additionally, the table and chairs were noted as out of stock at the time of purchase, with an expected restock in mid-to-late July. We do our best to communicate those delays clearly and understand that waiting can be frustrating.

Regarding the damaged chair, we do have a service appointment scheduled for you on 7/23, and our team will address the issue during that visit.

I bought two oversized chairs which…

I bought two oversized chairs which ended being too big for my room. I ended up having to return the chairs. They charge a 25% restocking fee. Fine, but I was willing to buy other chairs and asked if some of the restocking fee could be applied to other merchansise. Spoke to 3 different people, the first 2 who said they would talk to someone and get back with me. They never did. The 3rd person refused to work with me stating 25% restocking fee was their policy. There is no if ands or buts with these people. To top it off when I purchased the chairs they threw in a $369 4 year warranty which I clearly told the sales person I didn't want. I didn't notice it until after the purchase went through so even after returning the chairs they told me they couldn't refund the warranty fee. Gardner White is for Garner White and not the customer. This is all nothing but corporate greed. So now I am out $750 dollars unless I purchase 2 more chairs and transfer the warranty to the new chairs. They will allow the transfer of the warranty. I am so disappointed in their policies. Many stores will give you the option to put fees toward other merchandise. Not Gardner White. I have never shopped there in the past and after reluctantly having to purchase chairs one more time I will never purchase anything from there again. And I will be putting them on blast on social media and to all my family and friends.
