I bought 2 Olivia sofas from the Colchester store in March, delivered April. Initially I was very happy with my purchase, the staff were helpful and friendly. I was dubious why the furniture was so competitively priced but I was assured all furniture came with 12 months warranty. The gentleman who delivered the sofas were also extremely helpful. However once you’ve parted with your money it seems you are no longer a valued customer.

It only took a couple of month for one of the buttons to come lose on the seating area of the 3 seater sofa, I should have contacted them then as it was under 6 months and I might have stood a better chance of getting some help! However I didn’t but when another button completely came away I was not impressed so I called them and was told to send in photos which I did and they would look into it. Sofa is only 7 months old by this point. After several emails back and forth, chasing calls I was promised I would have, I was told they would send an upholsterer out to re fix the buttons. I was advised Maddie would get back in touch by the end of the week, she did not. Again I sent another email, and days later received a reply stating she couldn’t find an upholsterer that would come to my area, I live 25 minutes max away from the Colchester store.
Maddie said she was awaiting a reply from another upholsterer, but if I could recommend someone then to give her the details and she would contact them. I did not personally know of anyone but gave her some details on a local upholsterer that i found from a google search.
However since then yet another button has completely come away from the same sofa, and from closer inspection several are loose on both the sofas. With the buttons missing the sofa is losing its shape and even if they are replaced I’m not convinced they will ever look the same.
I now have my doubts that either sofas are actually fit for purpose! If you can’t sit on them, like you would a sofa, without the buttons coming loose and then snapping off it is of no use as a sofa! I can see this now be an ongoing issue with most of the buttons going and when the sofa reaches 12 months I’ll have no warranty and be left with a useless sofa. The sofa’s may have been cheap compared to larger well known furniture brands but it would seem I’ve still wasted £1500 on something that isn’t fit to do its job.
Another email sent to Maddie stating another button has come away and no reply as of yet!

Edit after my review last week.
After my review was replied to I had a call from a gentleman to say he was dealing with the matter and he would be get back to me, he has not.
I have, however, had an email from Maddie stating that they have found someone to re attach the buttons and she would get back to me regarding dates. No mention of my furniture being assessed by a qualified technician to establish the cause of damage as stated in furniture outlet stores response to my review!
I expect someone will come and reattach the buttons and in months, if not a few weeks time I’ll have more lose buttons and be back to square one. I fully believe my sofa is substandard and not fit for its purpose!

Further to my last edit, no correspondence from furniture outlet stores since the last email Maddie sent to me on the 1st December. I sent another email on the 9th December, still no response to me and it’s now the 12th December.
Edit 16th Dec… I phoned the Colchester store 13th Dec asking to speak to Maddie as still no correspondence from anyone. She was unavailable and I was told my message would be forwarded on and she’d contact me. Still nothing.

My next move is trading standards.

Avoid this place is all I can say!!!!

6th January…. More excuses, more ignored emails and calls, still not had my issues resolved!

Further edit… my sofa was finally repaired by a technician on the 14th January. My sofa does again look as it should but I still stand by my review, especially seeing as I questioned the quality of the thread used to attach the buttons and the technician said it was not as good quality as he was using for the repair, and then I was basically accused of lying by furniture outlet as to what was said! I fully expect to have further issues with the buttons and once out of warranty they will not care!

Then today 27th Jan I get an email from trustpilot stating that furniture outlet think my review is for another company and not them!!! No furniture outlet this is you and your very poor customer service as you are well aware! Obviously a tactic to get my honest review removed.

Never will I step foot it one of their stores again and I certainly will not be recommending them to anyone!!!

Update.. 28th January in response to your reply, that’s correct I did not buy online but in one of YOUR stores! As did a lot of people leaving reviews on here, did you try and get all those reviews removed too?

We bought this bed — and it is truly our dream bed! We purchased the mattress separately, but the bed frame itself exceeded all expectations. The super king size provides plenty of space for a perfectly comfortable sleep. We were especially impressed by the spacious under-bed storage — it opens easily, the mechanism is sturdy, and there is a lot of room inside. The tall, elegant headboard makes the bed not only stylish but also very practical.
The bed looks luxurious, feels solid and stable, with no squeaking or wobbling. It completely transformed our bedroom and made our sleep noticeably better. And most importantly, the quality is absolutely worth the price. Highly recommended!

I left a review earlier today regarding a lamp I ordered. I was told by Dpd the item hadn't been dropped off by the company, as I ordered on 7th November, I was really annoyed as I'd been chasing a tracking number all week.
So I wrote the review. An hour later Dpd dropped the lamp off.
So I apologise for bad review.
The item is exactly as described so I am happy. I'm giving 3 stars because the aftersales communication was very lax.
I understand delays happen, but just let the customer know.

Colchester store. I took down my previous Google review because I realise I had been rather unfair. In actual fact, the staff in store were very helpful. We had to change our order three times for logistical reasons. It was very frustrating but not the fault of the store. The furniture itself is fabulous. There was some difficulty in getting the items in situ, but once in we are very happy. Great that goods are in stock so wait time is minimal.

A quick and straightforward process, ordered everything online. Within a couple a days got a call about delivery date and time.

My new Stockholm dining table and matching side table arrived this morning, on time. I love the furniture, good quality at a reasunable price and it looks great in my lounge. The delivery guys were fantastic, they brought it to the room and very quickly finished the assembly, even giving me help on how to put my chairs together (although bought elsewhere!) Very efficient and personable and did a good job. I’d definitely buy again from Furniture Outlet, thank you.

For a year have been putting off getting a new mattress even though my current one was in a bad condition I saw Charlton store FB and saw the amazing stuff they had and everytime I saw new posts I knew I had to get a new mattress and I'm glad I did I got a king size mattress bed care prices was affordable and delivery was better they gave me a time slot however they delivered earlier and contact me to let me know if that's ok they also offered to take the mattress to where I would want it making my life easier as I'm only small person Lol after the purchase and delivery was completed they message me to ask me to give a review and that's the least I can do for the amazing service from them and thank you to the Charlton store Fb it was you who convinced me to buy from you 😁

I’m absolutely in love with my new bed! The colour adds the perfect touch of elegance and tone to my room. The quality is incredible — very sturdy with a modern, trendy design. The staff were amazing throughout the entire process and made the whole experience top-tier. I would definitely recommend Furniture Outlet and will be making more purchases in the future!

Absolutely Disgraceful Service. Avoid at All Costs!

I spent £3,050 at Furniture Outlet Store (Charlton) on 17th Sept 2025 and specifically requested brand new furniture, refusing display items even when offered a discount. Despite this, they delivered used, shop floor stock, scratched dining table, damaged chairs with worn legs and ripped leather. Even the boxes were clearly re-sealed.

We also paid for premium delivery, but the team just brought the furniture to the mentioned first floor and left. No assembly, no care.

I’ve been lied to repeatedly by the manager, who promised replacement deliveries on 30th Sept, then 4th Oct, then 7th Oct… each time a different excuse: “driver forgot”, “van broke down”, “table broke in transit”. It’s now 7th Oct and I still don’t have what I paid for.

This whole experience has been a joke. Zero professionalism, endless delays, and no respect for customers' time or money.

If I don’t receive a brand new, undamaged dining table by Thursday 9th Oct, I will cancel the full order, demand a full refund, and escalate this to the Furniture Ombudsman and Trading Standards.

Do yourself a favour, stay far away from this company.

They were very professional, had a question and the answered it straightaway, placed an order, once ready they called me and were very flexible with the delivery date. The delivery came and fitted everything and placed them in my living room. The 6 chairs are strong and look great.

We cannot recommend this firm highly enough - what an amazing customer service from start to finish. From the moment we walked through the door, Tony ( The Owner ) was amazing to deal with. He wasn’t pushy ( something we detest in firms ), let us look around and when asked for advice, he genuinely found the right beds within our budget and feel he really gave us a good deal and found us top quality beds - exactly what we were looking for and at a bargain price. Although we had a limited budget, it’s not always about money. Tony is one of the most respectful, genuine and people we have ever met. He bent over backwards to get the right deal for us and due to the fact that my wife was having a major operation within 2 weeks of us calling, Tony said he would do his very best to get us an early delivery date of the day before my wife was to go into hospital. Unbelievably, he managed to get it 4 days early giving us enough time to get the bedroom just right. Tony also phoned us immediately to arrange delivery for the next day - a truly friendly family based business and genuine concern for the customer. I don’t often leave reviews but Bankrupt Beds in Leeds have the best customer service we have ever come across. Thank you Tony for all your help and professionalism. The outside of this building does not do justice to what you will find when you walk through the doors as inside you will find top brands, top quality and top service from this amazing family-run business. As soon as we got to the branch at Dagenham we was treated with a hello and a smile. We knew what we wanted to buy as we'd seen many pictures on the Facebook page. We didn't feel pressurised to buying or looking at anything. All the staff we're polite and friendly. When the furniture was delivered the delivery guys where helpful and Friendly. We will be getting more furniture from there in the future.

Sofa bed did not arrive on the specific date and time i wanted when paying. Order item from Wickford but informed i lived near Leigh on sea, that they would deliver. At 5.57 on Saturday 9th August i called Leigh explained to the lady all she would say was "human error" someone enter Monday 11th am delivery.... nothing like Saturday 9th between 2-6pm. I mentioned all details were on the receipt again she said that information was relevant, not helpful at all. Told me to call Wickford on Monday for a refund, called Wickford only to be told ive got to go back to store for a refund, so annoyed, cos nowhere does it state that. Would NOT shop at any outlet again nor recommend.

Added reply to your response, you did not arrange for delivery the next working day, Leigh branch said human error booked the delivery For Monday morning, no good to me I’d be at work and I wasn’t offered a refund, I asked for the refund due to you not being at all helpful
