Substandard Service warning
Based upon glowing reviews I contacted Escalade Appliances Repair.
Next day service was available ... which was certainly appreciated.
The tech turned up with a backpack of tools ... not quite what I was expecting but whatever ...
What stood out during the reviews was the dialogue between the tech and the customer ... a stick of dynamite couldn't budget a reply out of the fellow ...
Over the phone I indicated the leaking issue of our Bosch dishwasher. Kudos to the tech for bringing the part ...
However ... it quickly became apparent there was a problem ...
Bosch offers at least two different styles of water intake valves .. a model whose water connection runs North/South (the proper one on our dishwasher) and an East/West connection (not ours) ...
After consulting someone on the phone in a foreign language he removed the inlet valve and modified the immediate area to fit the other style valve. The stock valve was attached to the frame ... the new installed was left dangling with a makeshift shim constructed out of cardboard.
He then bent the copper water line sharply ... kinking the corner and causing the line to collapse. No water could flow through. (All these things were discovered after the tech left the premises).
The tech fired up the dishwasher for approximately 10 seconds or less and declared everything was good to go.
Not till that evening when we attempted the first load of dishes did we discover the dishwasher knocking and rattling like it would explode.
We immediately shut it off ...
We contacted a plumber to resolve the blocked water line ... he installed a flexible water line. And he didn't arrive with tools in a backpack either ...
He showed us how the water inlet valve body was dangling ... not attached to anything. He called it highly amateurish installation ... in which we had the pleasure and honor of paying over $400 for ...
Our plumbing bill for repair of water line was just over $400 .... and fortunately the plumber was professional and quick.
So, I went back and read more of the glowing reviews ... plus the companies response ... and I'll be honest, my real life experience with Escalade Appliances Repair is so opposite of the other reviews made me wonder how real they actually are ...
It was annoying that the tech basically knew that he screwed up royally the water line installation ... and vammoosed faster out the door than a senior heading to the all you can eat buffet.
Shoddy workmanship at it's finest.
Installing the new water line resulted in the dishwasher operating properly ... with out the repair of the line the dishwasher would have self destructed.
So buyer beware ... I would not be enlisting Escalade Appliances Repair for any future, ahem, "repairs".
I cannot afford to risk it
