SEND parents know how relentlessly exhausting it is to fight for their children’s education, with local authorities flagrantly - and routinely - flouting the law. We instructed Sarah Woosey to represent us at a SEND tribunal after years of fighting through ourselves, and having decided we needed legal representation. I can’t overstate what a difference it made, not just in winning our case but in lifting the weight from our shoulders. Sarah was an exceptional advocate at tribunal, getting our case across clearly and powerfully to the judge in the online hearing, while also keeping up a stream of reassuring and clear advice by text. We won - of course - and when like Groundhog Day the local authority again tried to withdraw our son’s provision at the next annual review we didn’t even consider managing it again ourselves, but went straight back to Sarah. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

When we first reached out to Sarah we were in an impossible situation with both the school and Local Authority not delivering the provision clearly outlined in our Son's EHCP. Our son was clearly suffering and was not wanting to attend school. Through her expertise and support, we were guided though our options and were able to make sure our son received the provision he is legally entitled to and as a consequence made excellent progress. All of this was achieved in a manner which enabled positive and effective relationships to be maintained with both the school and the Local authority. In addition to the above, we needed to consider specialist school placements for transfer to secondary education. The LA did not agree with our preferred setting. Sarah was invaluable in supporting us through this process and through her guidance and advice we have managed to secure our chosen school for our son.
The SEND system is complicated and there is a significant difference between knowing legal rights/best practice and actually having it implemented. We are in no doubt that if we hadn't used Sarah's expertise then we would have been in a very different situation. She made us feel that we were not on our own and was a fantastic support. Our son is now happy, thriving and excited to start his new school where he will be given every opportunity to achieve his full potential. We cant thank Sarah enough.
