A breath of fresh air.

Working in construction it feels like everyone else’s projects get done and never mine. I had been planning to refurbish two bathrooms in the house and could never find the time, I was cautious about letting another contractor do the works as I have high standards from working in the industry. I was passed DKB details and decided to give them the chance.
From the initial meeting through to the finished product the process was faultless. Mr Crosbie has an in-depth knowledge of the products he supplies and was of great assistance choosing the colour scheme and fine tuning the final layout. All of the tradesmen were polite and professional, workmanship was excellent. I would highly recommend DKB for your home refurbishment needs.

Fantastic Service

Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish. From David who came out on the 1st Visit all the way through to David the kitchen fitter who was especially efficient and took great pride in the work he carried out. We are absolutely delighted with the kitchen and would be very happy to recommend DKB to anyone who was looking for a new Kitchen or bathroom. Many Thanks .

Horrendous

I could go on for ever regarding this company however i will try to keep it short.
The designer promises you the moon however none of the promises are fulfilled.
The two week instillation seemed a bit muchbut infact we were without a kitchen for six weeks.
Units arrived the wrong size and not as ordered. The matt doors were in fact gloss. However this paled into insignificance when you take into account the workmen they subcontract. I can assure you that these are the worst workmen I have ever encountered. Lazy, messy and not up to the job. Left piles of rubble and mess in my living room and conservatory which werent being worked in. Left my garden and garage like a junkyard. Left screed all over my doors new units and patio slabs.
Scratched 90% of the units and fittings. Large radiator crashed down from wall because it wasnt fixed properly. I could go on and on but I think you will get the idea.
Eventually accepted minimal compensation to draw a line under it but agreed that if there were any further problems I could contact them. I duly emailed them regarding a faulty radiator a month ago. Still havent heard anything from them. Since then our LVT floor has started lifting. This is because the floor wasnt screeded properly and the screed was thrown everywhere except the floor.
TBH my wife and myself have suffered a breakdown due to the conduct of this company. Opening the door to their fitters is akin to allowing vandals into your house on a daily basis.
I held off with this review hoping that they would rectify things however they dont seem interested.
It looks as though my only recourse will be through the courts.Over 22 grand down the drain.

Kitchen, utility room and toilet

Recently had our kitchen, utility and downstairs toilet replaced and I’m very pleased with the results. Fitter Lee deserves a special mention, he worked hard and diligently; often staying late (7pm) over the two week period it took to complete the job. He kept us fully informed throughout the job and we are very pleased with the results. Scott managed the project and again he gave regular phone updates. Davie the salesman was very patient as we really weren’t sure what it was we wanted and then added the toilet at the last minute which the company accommodated. Happy to recommend the company. Thanks to all involved.

Very satisfied customer.

Very satisfied customer.
We went to steve through a personal recommendation so had not seen any of these reviews. Have to say, we have had a great service. The two fitters were good at explaining any issues, tidied up every day before they left etc.
Steve came out,measured up, made a plan and priced up. Everything went to plan.
Scott, installation manager kept us updated either through phone calls or emails.
All round we think it was a top service, completed to a high standard and on time.
Would happily recommend.

Very Disappointing Installation

Trust Pilot Review DKB Strathaven
The kitchen installation commenced on 16th Nov 20 and remedial works continued until the beginning of May 21. Although at last I am reasonably satisfied with the kitchen I found the installation process unsatisfactory for the following reasons.
It took 5 separate visits to fix leaks in the pipework and sink area.
Multiple errors were made. The wrong oven was originally installed. It was a cheaper oven without catalytic linings. The correct oven AEG 43110 (as per the original invoice) was later installed when I pointed out the mistake to the company. A wrong sink was ordered. There were 3 damaged sinks delivered before I got an acceptable one. The dishwasher – the integrated door and then the handle were not ordered and the wrong size of screws were used resulting in damage to a drawer unit. The washing machine – transit bolts were left in place resulting in a loud banging noise. Again the company had to come back after I had investigated the reason for the noise.
The whole ceiling had to be replaced and a whole new worktop installed following the removal of the damaged sink.
There was a lack of reasonable care and skill throughout the installation. The white goods were not properly protected with dust sheets etc resulting in damage to the newly installed hob. I had to ask for this to be properly protected as the installers were still creating debris. The shelving unit under the sink was not properly supported and I had to get this repaired.
Generally this company could have cleaned up much more efficiently at each stage.
Communication was poor. For example I asked in writing to leave access to my garage where I keep my freezer and tumble drier. This was completely ignored. The company took over my garage for about one week without asking my permission. Access to my freezer and tumble drier was thus denied. On day 1 of the installation the installers had the wrong plan. I waited a full day for an electrician who failed to appear with no phone call or explanation on that day.

I always appreciate feedback but please allow me to point out that your installation unfortunately fell into a government lockdown period, and this meant we were not able to visit your home freely, but we did get you almost completed before we could do no more.


Points raised:

1) My tradespeople are qualified but sometimes a part can fail.

2) The oven supplied is the one we agreed to at the point of sale, but we changed this at our own cost for you when you were unhappy.

3) Sinks were damaged, but we were in lockdown, and you took delivery meaning we couldn't check these preinstall, this is a problem we are taking up with supplier. The worktop got damaged when trying to remove the sink because we had fitted it correctly, we paid for all replacements.

4) Only one ceiling panel needed replaced but we didn't want to risk a shade difference, so we changed the whole lot.

5) Communication wasn't poor, we were closed due to a pandemic, and I always answered your emails during this time.

6) Storage was an issue, we must have goods on site to fit them and you didn't want the goods in your home, we had to use garage.


We did receive an email saying that you are happy with the job and you are in receipt of refund.

Fabulous bathroom installation from start to finish

We have just had a full bathroom installed and I am delighted with the job that Stevie led. The two fitters who worked here for over a week were the nicest guys ever and worked to a very high standard. I have never encountered tradesmen who were so tidy and courteous throughout. The job started when promised, despite various lockdown restrictions and every query was responded to promptly. I would have no problem recommending DKB to anyone else.

Avoid at all costs

I am retracting my previous good review which was left on the promise that if I gave a good review the issues with my new bathroom would be fixed. Almost a year later no effort has been made to rectify the shoddy job. We still have an upside down shower dial, hot and cold pipes plumed in backwards and cracked shower handle. We have been asking since last March for this to be fixed. A few months back we were finally told ‘someone will be out this Thursday’ only to be called the next day and told they couldn’t make it. Since then no effort has been made to come out. Emails endlessly ignored. Customer service a disgrace. Charged premium prices for an incomplete job. Take your money and then don’t want to know. Avoid at all costs. I’m now going to be taking this up with trading standards as ample time has been given to fix these problems.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is appalling and they do not use tradesmen. We were shocked to discover that our electrical work was not being carried out by a qualified electrician and likewise the plumbing.
We had a number of issues with the company, the first one being the time it took to complete the kitchen. When we ordered it we were told it would take a week but most days only one fitter would arrive and work from 10.30am till 4pm, some days no one turned up at all. We also had to wait for a worktop to be replaced which was damaged and wallboard to be replaced which was destroyed by the fitter when he was installing it. Our kitchen took a total of 7 weeks to be completed.
The next issue was with the standard of workmanship. On two separate occasions we had to stop the fitters from continuing until someone competent came to inspect the work. The first was when the young lad who had been sent that day attempted to fit the fridge freezer, when he couldn’t get it to fit he ripped the back off the unit and then pulled the unit from the wall. The second occasion was when the wallboard was being installed and the fitter cut the hole for the socket in the wrong place and left huge gaps around the edges which he filled with silicone. There was no continuity of the work, 6 different fitters worked on our kitchen.
Next was the poor customer service. We were continually being told fitters would be here then no one turned up and then we were given numerous excuses. When I spoke with the owner one Saturday he was not interested and told me to phone back on Monday, then they stopped answering the phone to us, I had to use a my neighbours phone to get through to them. When the worktop was damaged we were initially told they had hundreds of different worktops we could choose from, then they emailed the 8 we could have. They tried to get out of replacing the wallboard by claiming we had just changed our minds when in fact we had been sold board that wasn’t suitable.
The finished kitchen is not of the standard we were expecting. None of the sockets were on straight and the cooker switch was not fixed properly, we had to get an electrician to fix it. The floor is scratched because they built the kitchen on top of it even though we were initially told it should go down last. None of the cupboard doors are in line, on the last day the fitter didn’t have time to do them and he told my husband to do them himself and the worst thing is my fridge freezer which is so high that I need a step to reach the top shelf. We were told this was because we supplied our own appliances, even though we were told when we bought the kitchen that if we gave them the sizes they would make the units to fit.
We will not be asking them to come back and fix any of this because they were so bad we would rather pay someone else to do it properly.
Very disappointed. We feel we have wasted our money.

We are sorry you feel this way. We did make you aware that our fitter had a death in his family which left us trying to arrange a new fitter as we don't have spare people. We re-arranged a couple of jobs so we could send our installation manager personally to go over the job and put right the things you weren't happy with, we were all happy at the time after Stephen's visit and I am disappointed that this review has now arrived months later after my social media post asking for support during quiet times.
We did also order a special order splashback after you were unhappy with the first one (difference in opinion) we didn't argue we just ordered that, but it took some time to arrive, and fitted that free of charge. You did pay for the job and thank Stephen for his work and have heard nothing since, If you are or were unhappy with anything we are always here to help.

Chose discount kitchens and bathrooms…absolutely incompetent. Do not recommend

Chose discount kitchens and bathrooms as I was impressed with Thierry showroom and Stevies confidence and assurance he could provide the top quality service I was looking for. My experience with the company became a nightmare, for several reasons. The wrong shower was supplied and fitted,when I highlighted this they refused to change it. Workmen smashed the bathroom mirror and I had to wait weeks on a replacement. There was a long delay in installing the lights in the plinth in my kitchen, and when marking to install spotlights in ceiling not only were the wrong lights fitted, my ceiling was marked with blue ink where the workmen had placed their marks. Workmen left the old appliances in my close in a common stairway for 3 days,causing mess and a fire hazard. Workmen's attitude was hostile at times. I would not expect this treatment from a company charging premium prices and cannot emphasise enough how disappointed I am,it was problemsfrom start to finish. I would not want anyone else else to experience the problems I experienced, so stressful when I just wanted to enjoy my home improvements.

We had two bathrooms installed and within ten months one of the shower doors started leaking they bodged the job and now it had damaged my ceiling they are not interested in fixing the problem or replacing the clearly failing shower screen never had such poor customer service in my life they should be ashamed how they treat customers also the workmen have very poor hygiene absolutely stink of stale smoke as an in smoker find it disgusting.

This job is now over 18 months old, we did replace some silicone for you a year ago but after this time silicone isn't covered under guarantee. We had sent our man out as a gesture of good will but the repair was not carried out as the job you discussed with him was not the job you discussed with the office.
I have taken up your concern with the door supplier and they will investigate your claim about the door seal.

My husband and I had a new bathroom…

My husband and I had a new bathroom fitted w/c 18/6/18.Steve came to our house to look at the bathroom and we also went to the showroom to pick all the fixtures and fittings. We have quite a large bathroom with a concrete floor which has caused a problem with previous shower base being too high off the floor. I have had a stroke and needed a very low shower tray. Steve and all workmen were great and the plumber bought a special low trap so that the shower base could be really low. we had a full renovation with our bathroom taken back to the bare walls ceiling and floor. The work was completed within the 5 day time scale and any small problems were sorted straight away. We now have what I would call a WOW bathroom separate large low shower and separate normal size bath with a toilet unit and a large sink vanity unit. We are over the moon with our new bathroom and with Steve and all the trades. We would not hesitate to use Steve and his company again if we needed more work done in our house. We would certainly recommend this company without reservation due to our experience. We could not be happier with our new bathroom.

We visited their Showroom in July of…

We visited their Showroom in July of 2017, picked out, wall boards, bath, basin, vanity unit, floor tiles, ceiling, light, shower, etc, got a price and agreed and signed up. We were told it would probably be September before the work was started, no problem.
Finally got a call, with a date for mid August, which was good, someone will be out to go over the details and take some measurements. Nothing for weeks, started calling them to find out when, as the start date was fast approaching, at last a guy came out one evening, he had nothing with him, no paperwork, and asked US what fittings we had ordered, we couldn't find our paperwork so from memory we did our best, we also pointed out as we had done in the showroom, that the radiator had to be moved or replaced with a much smaller unit, as it was far too close to the toilet and couldn't actually be used for danger of burns, which had happened to my granddaughter years earlier. Which had prompted me to swap the basin and toilet around, so the toilet was between the Bath and the basin to keep it clear of the radiator. The guy did ask why the toilet was where it was and I explained, and repeated the need for the radiator to be moved or at the very least made much smaller. Bear in mind that this IS the smallest bathroom you will ever find, the bath lengthwise fills one wall completely, the toilet and basin are under the window and butt up to the side of the bath, with the Shower screen in place, which covers half the bath, there is a gap of about 500mm between the shower screen and the basin, the radiator fills the third wall between the toilet and the door, when sitting on the pan, I can stretch my foot out and place it flat on the door, It's THAT small a room, The door is on the final wall, with a small in-shot of about 150mm between the bath and the wall, and a wall section 300mm between the door and the in-shot. So not many places to move the radiator to. He said, no problem we will sort that out.

On the first day of work The fitter came to me and said, it's down here to remove all the tiles, floor boards, and ceiling and start from a bare room, but the tiles are the best surface to put these wallboards on, do you want me to put them on the existing walls or go back to bare brick, it will be very messy and take a couple of days longer. He knows best so we went with his recommendation.

Then he said, the bath we ordered was unavailable, so they chose the closest one to it, no biggy, a bath is a bath.

Then the Bath panel wasn't available either, So we settled on using a wall board as a bath panel, which I have to say, works really nicely and looks good.

Then the Basin Vanity set, had a broken glass shelf, that he would order up and hopefully be here for the job finishing. we got it 2 months later.

Plumber arrived and between them they stripped the room bare. Wall boards went up, ceiling went in, floor tiles went down. On the third day we left them to it and went out for the day. That was a mistake.
Came back to find The radiator had been fitted, it was even bigger than the one they took out, and it was put back exactly where the old one had been, pointed out this was not right, and they said, to move it would mean ripping out the new wall boards and floor tiles and would probably cost more to sort. We weighed up the options and decided, that we would just have to live with it, but not use the radiator. worked through the winter without it on, so ok, except that you cannot sit square on the pan, as the radiator curves outward, and means you have to sit squint.

In went the rest, the toilet, the vanity unit, the basin. The wall cabinet for the vanity unit had to be left out as there was literally nowhere to put it, the only wall it would have fitted was the radiator wall, and even without the radiator there, it would have been a danger to anyone standing up off the loo. When I say this is a small room, i really mean it.

Plumber had issues with the hot water and couldn't get the correct pressure from the boiler, said it was a boiler problem and he wasn't gas safe registered, so couldn't touch it, SO we called a gas engineer to come have a look, meanwhile the Bathroom got finished.

They finished it in about 5 days, and it looked really good, to be fair it still does.

HOWEVER....The gas engineer came out the next day and condemned our boiler as there was a fault in the flue, he had to order a new flue which took a week to come, during which time we were without heating or hot water, when the part arrived, he came back and said he would have to rip out the pipe-chase in the bathroom above the bath, as there should have been access/inspection panels fitted into this when the bathroom was installed, this is building regulations apparently and they had just fitted wall boards over the top of the pipe-chase blocking access to the flue.

I pleaded with him to find an alternative way of fitting the new flue, and as sympathetic as he was he couldn't see a way around it. As these panels had to be fitted BY LAW. Luckily, and after a lot of time and effort and fantastic work by him and a lot of money from me, he got the new flue in.

The Gas engineer had barely left and I was in the shower, a cracking big double thing, with a massive "rain forest" rose, and a second "standard" flexi-pipe head, riser and Thermostatic control. That's where the fun ended, almost burnt me to a crisp, no control over the temperature, no matter what I did, it was either scalding hot or ice cold, nothing in between, I put it down to possibly the fact that the faulty boiler had meant the plumber couldn't regulate the shower properly, So I called DKB, no answer, left messages, no reply, finally got a call after leaving an email, and was pretty much told I had never called and that I was lying about leaving messages, as the answer machine was checked regularly. Eventually he said he'd send a guy out to sort it, it was probably plumbed in "backwards". About a week later someone came round and switched the pipes round, now, it's the best shower ever, I highly recommend you get one.

Other "niggly" things that have followed are, the Glass 3 pane folding shower screen leaks, but it's a shower screen and I think they all leak, the seals seem very flimsy, and I have just ordered new ones from the manufacturer at £15 delivered for a full set.
The sealant around the bath has started to peel off, and if the shower head points anywhere near the wall, we get water pouring through the kitchen ceiling, hopefully this will stop with some new sealant.
And strangely enough the handle of the cold water tap on the basin fell off, it seems to have unscrewed itself, I refitted it and tightened it up, and it's been fine since, checked the rest of them too as precaution.

So to sum up, If it wasnt't for the radiator I would happily have gone up to 4 stars, and if the communication had been better, 5 stars was possible.

DKB did my bathroom just over a year…

DKB did/started my bathroom just over a year ago and unfortunately I would have to recommend people to steer well clear.....

My bathroom was finally finished properly (meaning the job was completed to a passable standard) a few weeks ago, hence taking so long to review. Amongst the list of issues were: (excuse my non technical descriptions!)
* inappropriate materials used for a bath panel and sink worktop where water caused them to swell within a couple of months of being fitted (the material used originally was a sort of compressed wood which soaked up any splashes from the bath and caused swelling so unless the bath was never going to be used I can't see why this would ever have been an appropriate material to use) For months I had wet rotten wood around my sink that leaked mucky fluid and was a complete eye sore,
* the tap on the sink was loose and it turned out the hole that had been cut for it was the wrong size (there's no way they didn't know they had done this at the time but they said nothing and waited for me to complain about it to them after a few weeks of using it),
* the shower fitting to my bathroom wall started leaking a few weeks after the job was finished,
* the toilet stopped flushing properly - twice,
* the window sill wasn't sealed properly and began to sag if you put anything on it.
* they removed my old extractor fan but omitted to put a new one in despite the assurance that the job would be completed to a totally finished standard,
* the original bath panel they put on (the one that had to be replaced because it was an inappropriate material) had an inch wide gap between it and the floor at one end (this was blamed on my uneven floor - which they fitted)
* the skirting board in the bathroom has been left unfinished where they took away my original sink unit;
* my toilet seat constantly comes loose, i can fix this myself but ideally it wouldn't do this!

In addition to the above I have continually had to chase to get things sorted with constant promises that they will be in touch when parts come in etc, each time I have had to chase them up weeks later when I haven't heard a thing.
The manager Steve is beyond defensive when you try and reason with him, at one point on a phone call I said I felt he was due me an apology and his reply was 'this isn't going to end well'. (The company has been through numerous 'installations manager's' during this past year and ex-staff members that I have contacted - when I thought they still worked for the company and had been trying to get things sorted - have been very forthcoming about what a nightmare they've had working for the company).

The fixes that they have put in place have all been at no cost which is something however I would definitely question why so many things were wrong in the first place, they either don't care or rely on people putting up with completely substandard work, I would use them at your own risk.

I find this review unfair and not accurate.
We have had 2 installation managers over the last 3 years, the first one leaving due to personal reasons which is not relevant or appropriate to discuss.
The job did finish on time but you reported a swelling on your bath panel and sink worktop, we investigated this and found that it was damaged due to water being left on the surface which will cause swelling after a period of time, we realize you have children so we have added glass and a new bath panel free of charge which is more than we had to do but we did, without negotiation, so we didn't have a similar call next year.
The reason the bath panel wasn't flush with the floor was the very bad run on your property floor which was explained.
We are sorry you felt the need to leave this poor review but we have took note of your comments and we do apologise for the delay in coming back to fit the free worktop and bath panel but we are a small family business and don't have a plethora of fitters and we were in the middle of peak installation period.

I have had 2 bedrooms fitted

I have had 2 bedrooms fitted, my kitchen, my family bathroom and my cloakroom fitted by DKB over the past couple of years, and am delighted with all of the work. Thank you Steve and all your teams.

Highly recommended

We have just had our ensuite upgraded by DKB Glasgow and are extremely happy with everything they have done! Steve came out to the house to give us a quote and we also visited the brand new show room to see the range of products available.

We decided to set a date for the work to be completed whilst we were away on holiday and Richard and his team worked long days to ensure everything was done in 3 days. When we returned, everything was immaculate, from the tiling to the finishing touches and we were both delighted. We have already recommended them to friends and work colleagues and our neighbours were so impressed with everything they are considering using them for their own bathroom in the near future. Steve also gave us ideas for our kitchen so can’t wait to book them in to get that done too!
