PARENTS BEWARE: Serious safety incident and zero accountability
My 5-year-old son slipped off his pool noodle and became submerged underwater. He cannot touch the bottom of the pool, and there were seven teachers on duty, each teaching their own class, yet nobody noticed my son in difficulty. I had to shout to alert everyone and jump into the water myself to save him.
If I had not been watching my child and intervened when I did, the outcome could have been tragic. It was an absolutely terrifying experience that no parent should ever have to face.
What has made this situation even more upsetting is the owner's response. I feel the incident has been handled very unprofessionally, with the owner being rude and dismissive when I raised my concerns. The statements made by the staff do not match what I witnessed, which is extremely concerning.
This was a serious incident involving a five-year-old child's safety, and I expected it to be treated with honesty, professionalism and accountability. Instead, I have been left feeling dismissed, with serious concerns about the level of supervision and how the incident has been dealt with.
A child's safety should always come first. No parent should have to jump into a swimming pool to save their own child during a swimming lesson. I sincerely hope this incident is taken seriously so that no other family has to experience something so frightening.
