No free shipping for an order $0.01 below $150
I contacted the company in good faith requesting a workaround to obtain free shipping. I intended to purchase a Jellycats Festive Dragon and my order of $149.99 was just 1 cent off the required spend of $150.00. If I paid in cash, that 1 cent would have been rounded up and not refunded, therefore in what world is $149.99 not $150?
The response from staff by email was, "Our free shipping threshold is set to $150 and not for orders below sorry - hopefully you can find another item to add to your cart to qualify for free shipping!"
So you have the choice of paying an additional $12.95 in otherwise free shipping costs, OR "save" $8 by buying something I don't need or want for $5 in order to meet their minimum spend.
Really.. over 1 cent??! Who is writing their customer service policies? And why even list a single product that wouldn't qualify for free shipping? It is already more than the price of shipping over the RRP... Where is the common sense?
I am on a low income, pay 55% of my pension on rent and so every penny counts. I would only spend this for my son's birthday present, and because he absolutely loves mythical creatures - especially Chinese dragons. I would have bought locally if I could have afforded it when it was first released by Jellycats during the year of the dragon. Now two years later, it has sold out nearly everywhere else online. No surprise this store doesn't move stock at the same rate as everyone else.
Furthermore this store lists it $18 over RRP, and if you read the fine print.. they can't be bothered to combine shipping, and will charge you shipping twice if you send through two orders at once. Another reviewer warns if there are any issues, a refund is not an option, only ever a store credit. It seems to me that for a company dedicated to bringing joy to children, they don't really care at all. As such, I will never purchase a product from this company!
Yet, I was still very motivated to buy my son's gift, so he didn't miss out. Good news.. I found it at Hugglemoo for the RRP, plus I was offered a further 5% off for signing up to their mailing list. So in order to qualify for their free shipping, I bought two Cuddle Club toys ( a firebird and a yeti = $42 RRP) for just $3 dollars more than I would have had I purchased from Daisy and Hen and agreed to pay their "not free" shipping.
A happy ending for me :). 0 stars if I could for them.
