Stay Awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy People

Very clever marketing by the Cover 4 Less team. Good at stating what you do get but not very transparent regarding what you don’t get if don’t do A/B/C/D/E/F.

They then reference you back to the IPID document, so then it is your fault.

Having read through the reviews and the responses would have thought they may have changed their tack or even changed they way they promote their services.

Anyway, had the same issues as previous reviews, you pay monthly but because you have attempted to make a claim within the 1st year you have to pay the policy in full. Clearly missed that in the IPID

Can’t claim within 1st 30 days…. Make sure you read the IPID on that point.

Also noticed it is not new for old if cannot be repaired but a maximum of £500 will be paid on a TV worth £1,250. I guess my fault for not realizing that….. should have read the IPID, sub section 4, item 2, subgroup 22, paragraph 6, page 111500

Also, if you don’t have proof of purchase then it goes to underwriters to decide if you will be provided with a replacement, apparently found in the IPID as well.
So, it would look like going from a 65inch to a 14inch once the £500 has been covered off

So, my scenario is this.

TV has a possible fault, and the policy has been in force for approx. 4 months. So, I must pay the balance of the policy- in full, fill in a claim form, provide a receipt (don’t have as a gift) and wait for a repair to be arranged.

So, if there is a fault and it can’t be repaired then the underwriters will decide if they will pay out, as I do not have a receipt. We all know where this will go as a conclusion.

Also, veryyyyyyyyyyy cleaver when I was reporting the fault. First question was “has it been knocked” that would have rendered it as accidental damage and you are not covered.
Now having looked through all items not covered in the policy for the life of me why the hell I took out this policy I will never know?
Anyway, everything now cancelled, and a lesson learnt. I do look forward to the reply…… it may go something like this……
“We are sorry to hear you are not happy with your policy. We do include all this is information in the short Insurance Product Information Document (IPID) that all purchasers buying the policy online have to confirm they have read”
They hide behind the small print and what is it with having to provide a receipt for god’s sake? If you want a receipt, as proof of purchase, then request at the beginning of the application.

But of course, you won’t do that because it is your get out of jail card for not providing any form of customer service.

Many thanks for the review. Your comments have been noted. Please however note the following: The Insurance Product Information Document (IPID) is a brief but important legal document describing the main cover and exclusions in the policy.

You are expected to read this before taking out a policy, which is why we specifically ask you to confirm you have done this before you can purchase a policy online. It is a brief document at under 2 pages, rather than the 111500 pages as you indicate which is there FOR YOUR PROTECTION and not designed to catch you out.

The cover and exclusions are on page 1 and clearly listed in bullet points. The cover limits are also clearly stated on the website. We therefore do not agree with you that this information is hidden and deep inside the terms and conditions. The £500 claim limit is also clearly in view on the website when you open the TV page and is the first point on the page to ensure purchasers are aware of the level of cover available. We find it very hard therefore to understand how you think this is not clear?

Claims with screen faults where accidental damage is the cause are common, so asking if there has been any accidental damage on screen faults is an essential question to eliminate the inconvenience of an unnecessary visit because this is a breakdown policy as stated clearly on the website. The policy does not cover accidental damage and the website does not claim that it does, the bullet points in the IPID clearly state accidental damage is not covered.

It is sometimes necessary for due diligence purposes to ask for receipts or other documents particularly on TVs to prove the item was owned by you from new. This keeps premiums down by preventing fraudulent claims from customers who for example buy faulty items from online auction websites and seek to claim for them as their own. If we did not carry out due diligence, it would adversely affect the premiums of genuine customers by a considerable amount so I’m sure you can appreciate why this is required. Again this is made clear at the time of purchase and not designed in any way to catch you out. We even offer assistance and advice to obtain this where possible.

I am very sorry you are not happy with the policy but we do strongly recommend going forward that you read the Insurance Product Information Document (IPID) for any policy you purchase. IPIDs are a standard-format document all insurers are required to produce to allow you to easily compare and contrast cover from different providers in a clear and concise format (being 2 pages or less).

Item add and repair

I called to add an item to the insurance and also to have a dishwasher repaired. I picked this one as it stated that I was covered from the day I started and I had heard a couple of funny noises from the dishwasher. Now they say that in the fine print it says I cannot claim for 30 days but I was covered from the start. COVERED FOR WHAT ?. This is a deliberate miss guidance to customers and they have taken the payment on the 17 November. Surely they shouldn't take payment until I'm covered or their outside my WAITING PERIOD.

Thank you for your review. A 30-day initial exclusion period is common practice for extended warranty policies, this is clearly stated in the IPID document which lays out the main cover and exclusions of the policy.

You are incorrect when you state that we have taken payment from you on the 17th November. Please check your bank account. No money has been taken from your account whilst you were in the qualifying period.

Please note that you cannot take out insurance on an item that is already faulty.

Excellent Introduction

We applied on line and afterwards received an affirming and informative call that advised how the contract could give a similar result at reduced cost. Very thorough and reassuring.

I hope, if we need to have a call, the performance will be as good

Went with them mainly because of price

Went with them mainly because of price. Big mistake. Had cover for home emergency and although the website says 24/7 this is not the case. Tried calling the supplied phone number at 10pm and although it gives you an option to select on your phone it just continually repeats the choices. after a dozen attempts I gave up. it does work during office hours but is pointless for emergency cover. Just contacted and cancelled my cover and will go with a reputable company who actually provide the offered services

BE AWARE OF COVER 4 LESS

cover 4 less happy to take monies and when you claim they do anything to get out of paying
I had oven covered they wanted a breakdown of every item when i purchased my home in 2020
It was a house purchase they wanted to see a list with oven on it REALLY - I offered to show my purchase details - then they said the terms state if you claim after the 30 days you have to pay the whole amount even if paying monthly wth

FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD should have listened and gone with a reputable company be aware
