Cording betekent inderdaad stijl en kwaliteit.Maar zeker ook traditie.Mijn Nederlandse over -Grootvader en Grootvader welke Londen regelmatig frequenteerden omdat zij in scheeps benodigdheden zoals zeilen en alles wat voor de grote vaart verder nog nodig was handelden.Bij hun zeer regelmatige bezoeken aan de Britse hoofdstad maakten zij kennis met het fraaie en onderscheidende winkelpand van J.C. Cording inclusief het ambacht dat aldaar werd bedreven te weten de kleermakerij van J.C Cording&C Ltd.
De voorvaderen voorzagen de teloorgang van de grote zeilschepen al tijdig en schakelden over op de handel in grote scheeps motoren .Dat betekende overigens niet dat de banden met Londen werden verbroken ;in tegendeel zelfs! Behalve de zakelijke aantrekkelijkheid van Londen hebben hotels en restaurants als Carlton,Frascatis Oxford street Savoy en Simpsons ongetwijfeld -de familie kennende -een grote rol gespeeld hebben!Kortom zij kenden via hen de weg naar 19 Picadilly London W1 maar al te goed.Inmiddels kwam mijn Pruisische Vader als adspirant schoonzoon in beeld.De familie von Wondolleck zag breed de opkomende führer als ultieme proleet en een groot gevaar.Mijn Vader was inmiddels onder de Duitse wapenen geroepen en kon niet vermijden enige tijd het gehate maar kwalitatieve door Boss aangemeten uniform te moeten dragen .Hij besloot daarop korterhand naar Engeland uit te wijken.Gezien zijn zeer open en niet onder stoelen en banken gestoken afkeer van de nazis heeft het mijn lieve Moeder altijd verbaasd dat hij niet direct werd opgepakt bij de bezetting van Nederland .Kort en goed:In Londen aangekomen waar hij over een goed netwerk beschikte wierp hij het vermaledijde Boss pak af (want hofleverancier van het derde rijk) voor een gedestingeerd en kwalitatief pak van Cording in te ruilen.Voortaan werd consequent voor (maat)pakken van Cording gekozen!Ondergetekend en zijn zoons doen dat nu inmiddels ook bij voorkeur en met veel genoegen!

This shop the best shop.
ln particular, John gave me the best memories.
When I came from Japan a year ago, I couldn’t buy it at this store due to time constraints, but John remembered that I visited for only one day. And I was able to buy two of the best pants today. This memory is the happiest thing in my life. I will never forget it. I will definitely come to this store again.

Went in to buy a suit. Very welcoming and excellent service - professional and considered. Had some alterations done which have also come exactly as expected and on time - turned around over the weekend. My second visit to the store was equally welcoming with the team assisting in making sure I left with everything just so.

Superb Service from John on the purchase of a Covert Coat and was guided in every way and it arrived by courier with a large gash in the box but thankfully the coat was fine and it fitted perfectly..
I will certainly be back and will order again

A couple of points:-

1. I’d like to see stronger packaging on delivered goods

2. Larger sizes on many items of clothing eg. Size 44” on those beautiful corduroy and needlecord trousers as I was quite disappointed that this size wasn’t stocked

Otherwise great service

I can base this review on one [so far] purchase of a Tattersall shirt. Then fabric is good, the length as long as expected - which is long, and as described, and the overall fit seems quite acceptable, although the neck is tight, but I may have put on weight!
The only downside is that so far two button have come off. I still have the one that fell off today, but the other is either rattling around the washing machine or is in the septic tank. Either way, it will not be going back on the shirt. If this matter was addressed I could not find fault and, based on this, I shall pop up to London and see about a new suit and some more shirts.

Ordered a jacket online during the sale.
Paid via credit card, including £7 delivery fee.
5 days later got an email saying the item was no longer in stock.
Was offered the same sale price…if I wait until next winter’s sale - in 9 months time!

generally a great company; however, when I bought something online, just to be contacted a few days later, that their stock management system had made an error, I would have expected to be offered something comparable for a comparable price in lieu …

Ordered 3 shirts, blue,pink and white, they sent one white and two blue. When contacted they say they can’t send a pink one until they receive the blue one, which could take at least a week or two. As it was for a present, this is not a very satisfactory response. I don’t have a problem with the quality of the shirts, just the customer service.

Classic British styling for all seasons and reasonably priced for the quality, not least the superb jackets, most of which are still in a classic three button cut, in a different league to the off-balance, overly snug two button jackets ubiquitous elsewhere. Addictively good shirts. Very good alterations and adjustments service.

This week I purchased a linen suit, the staff in the Piccadilly shop were courteous and helpful. I was very satisfied with the overall experience.

Really poor service in Cordings' flagship store. No attention to detail. Lack of effort and support in the sizing and the fitting of an off-the-peg suit. Unwilling to swap-out the trousers for a smaller size, which I get to a degree; however, the shop assistant tried to convince me that a size 40 inch waist was 'ok'... when they were so far from being 'ok' in terms of fit. As general shopping experience, I was gob-smacked by the poor standard of service to be honest.

What a shame!

Shirts were fine; the problem was with the delivery.

The parcel was left at my front door, with the delivery person knocking but not waiting to see whether I was home or not. I definitely did not agree to this, and have double checked the checkout and delivery information on the website and scanned through all the terms and conditions, and it is not mentioned anywhere.

The delivery fee was AU$39, so not cheap.

I do not know whether Cordings or the courier company is responsible for this – whether Cordings instructs all parcels to be left at the door or whether the delivery person was slacking off – but it doesn’t really matter. There’s no choice of delivery method, so if it was the delivery person slacking off, I can’t do anything to avoid that.

So I won’t be ordering from Cordings again. I shudder to think of the stress of arguing with a faceless courier company or a business in the UK if the parcel (a birthday prsent) had been stolen.

Other companies offer a choice and will deposit the parcel at the local post office and leave a card if no-one is home if you indicate that preference on your order.

In future I will be enquiring specifically about delivery arrangements before I place any orders, so I suppose I have learned a lesson and had a lucky escape in that the parcel wasn’t stolen.

Not the pleasant shopping experience I was expecting, though.

I attempted to place an order on line but the order was rejected on Cordings' side. My credit card company reported that the issue was not on the US side of the transaction. When asked for help to resolve the issue, Cordings sent an automated reply that did nothing to fix the issue on Cordings' end, offering no assistance in resolving the problem. I won't be shopping on this site in the future.

Great online ordering system as you can first of all state the size the item you want and the items they have in stock (for example a jacket in a certain chest size and length) are displayed. If you go to the shop you might find that the items that you want aren’t available in your size. Once you know what size fits you by trying a few things in in the shop, you can happily order from home after that.
The staff in the downstairs ( men’s) part of the shop are helpful enough but cool and reserved. The traditional nature of Cordings happily means that any “Hi there have a nice day “ nonsense isn’t going to happen , but a smile and an eagerness to help would be a good idea.
I’ve been a customer for many years and this hasn’t changed. Obviously it depends on who serves you but by and large there’s a general air of walking into someone else’s territory without an invitation. I do hope Cordings read this .

We have purchasing goods from Cordings for over twenty years. You can imagine my surprise, when a cap that I purchased for my Husband for Xmas, stitching came away after just four weeks. At first I was offered a refund or a replacement, which we accepted.
Hence this was not the case, as Cordings failed to honour their written offer, as the Cap just a few weeks old was well worn? Hence in a nutshell infering that their goods were substanded and also poor quality. A cap should last at least a year at £75.00. Instead of reviewing the situation, the cap was sent back today, poorly repaired and unfit for purpose. Cannot believe that it has come to this. They offered me 10% off my next order. Really.
Waiting for them to get back to me.

Ordered a blue puppytooth country shirt £79. Plus £7 postage.
They advertise these as a fuller size that you won't have to worry about untucking from trouser waist.
All sizes have sleeves of 36" apart from size 15 collar which is 25.5".
So for a price of £79 I thought the shirt would be something special.
Well it was, arrived in the most beautiful claret packaging and I proceeded to unpack my new 16.5" collar shirt and it fell out onto the table in a mass of material that was substantial beyond anything I'd ever seen before in a shirt.
Material felt nice and warm/smooth in brushed cotton. Collar fitted fine..... Well all that was missing was a checkered Clown suit as it fitted like a sack. I am 6ft and 13 stone so not small. The arms are one size fits all at 36" and floundered down over my fingers. The rest of the shirt draped like a shroud. Well it's certainly a fuller cut and has plenty of material.
So the shirts will fit you beautifully in the collar but will land on the rest of your torso like a Parachute.
ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS SIZING AND DESIGNED FOR GIANT GORRILLAS.
Also not only do you have to post back at your own expense, they deduct a £7 administration fee. So £7 postage, £7 to send it back and £7 to tidy the sum spent to £21.

Nice shop but I specifically asked the m to ship to my address in Canada but NOT to use UPS for the shipping.
Cordings used UPS who don’t deliver to rural addresses this area and don’t have a pickup point.
Cordings…I said NOT UPS for a reason.

Just received 4 pairs of corduroy trousers they really are the best quality available both cloth and tailoring, I’ve just parted company with cords I’ve owned for many years due to expanding waistline,and sadly they are still in great condition this just proves that clothes from Cordings really do last giving value for money.

Just taken deliver of a corduroy jacket which I ordered on line. Beautifully made, perfect fit, this is my second Cordings jacket. Excellent value for money and impeccable quality.
