Shysters

Never deal with leaseholders complaints, slow to react unless they want money. Honestly issues raised drag on for years, I had a material defect with the building but the time it took them to react cost me thousands in damage to my property and good luck claiming on the insurance they arrange. I have had more property managers and none of them react to genuine concerns. 7 property managers in as many years appalling. Remember the leaseholders are customers not income generators, the work they do manage to get done is expensive and poor quality. Ethically and morally bankrupt.

Worst management company

They are honestly the worst. They told us that due to water maintenance, the supply would be off only from 9 am to 1 pm — but it’s been an entire day now, and there is still no water in our building. There are so many families here with children, and this situation is completely unacceptable.Instead of helping, they’re responding rudely and even accusing residents of “harassing” them, while no one is actually present on-site to resolve the issue. Their service is terrible. Please avoid them at all costs if you can. No wonder their rating is 1.7 — it should honestly be negative.

They deserve nothing

I can not post a review without a star else these guys deserve nothing.
If you are dealing anything with this company, run away.
If the number 0 means anything it's these guys.
No common sense, no accountability, no responsibility, no knowledge.
They have elite technician/engineers/plumbers who can not fix anything in time. Absolute ZERO.
They took 2 months to fix a lift ( only lift) and residents/kids/old aged were forced to use stairs upto 7th floor.
They turn off water supply on the name of maintenance and dont switch it back on.
These guys do not respond so once you have done a deal with them, you are trapped. And they play victim saying residents are abusive. Residents are asking for updates and these guys don't respond.
If you need more feedback - contact residents of AGIN COURT, LEICESTER and you will know how much capable (?? not a word for this group) this group is.

If there is a championship of incompetence - they guys are unbeatable!

Unprofessional and beyond rude.

Unprofessional and incompetent. We had no working lift for 5 months, despite multiple complaints we were told it wasn’t their problem and that we have to wait. They refused to fix the front door entrance to the flat, arguing on multiple occasions that it was working when it was not. Now we have not had any working water for the past 24 hours. I have had to use bottles of water to wash my hand, flush the toilet, clean dishes and when they where contacted by multiple tenants about this issue they would let the phone go to voicemail or simply end the call. Some tenants finally got through to the line only to be met but a rude unprofessional woman. This has got to be the worst place I have ever lived and will be moving in the next 3 months.

Unlucky if you find yourself here.

If you find yourself in a building being managed by Compton Group, you must have done something really horrible in your previous life. This is the worst real estate company you can ever imagine. It’s like the customer service in this company actually train to be rude and unhelpful and if you’re anything different, the company would not hire you.

They are so incompetent and frustrating that you will even lose the will to complain about anything. Trust me, avoid this company. Run. 🙏

Update: when I wrote this review, the building I’m in has had our water cut off with no reasonable explanation as to why it wasn’t brought back. It’s been over 24 hours now and still nothing.

The level of incompetence is maddening. I’ve been in this building for 1 year and almost half the time here the lift has been out. Pregnant women have been seen getting help going down, people moving out have had to employ extra services to help, old people living in the top floor have become weary.

Another issue is the safety measures. Compton Group sincerely does not care if you live or die. I think lowkey they want you to die. The doors don’t work so if you’re living in a crime centre, Goodluck to you, your packages, and your life because they invite criminals straight to your front door.

Incompetent. Rude. Unprofessional.

Incompetent, rude and unprofessional - these are the three main adjectives I would use to describe this so-called company. I've been living in a building under their management for 3.5 years. Since then, it's been a series of recurrent, unresolved issues (front door regularly busted, lift maintanance issues, bin room disgusting, homeless vagrants breaking into the building every week), with Compton failing to take action and accountability for their own failings. The worst thing is that they are not only astondingly incompentent (I'm almost impressed by their peerless ability to fail to address any maintanance issue), but also outright rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. Not only do they deflect responsibility, but they also scream at residents for asking questions and behave as if they have nothing to do with it all - as if the residents are at fault for making basic requests such as help with preventing homeless vagrants from breaking into their flats and communal areas, or for asking for immediate support when water supply is cut off for 8+ hours. Basic human right infringement is a matter of opinion, according to Compton. They put a notice on their webpage and told landlords that there won't be access to water/lift until further notice, so they've done their part. Resolving the issue efficently and within reasonable time limits isn't their job! Never in my life have I encountered this level of sheer brashness and incompetence. Truly impressive, albeit for the wrong reasons.

Absolute night mare Company .A Modern…

Absolute night mare Company .A Modern day extortion ring . force you into buying their own brand insurance or you invalidate your lease (allegedly)
so i refused to pay was then hit with a £75 fine as they contacted my bank threatening to have the house reposessed if i dont fullfill the original deeds which apparently state that the landlord can sasy who the leaseholder must pay insurance too ,This is currently available on the internet (yes told by Compton group to remove his name (( who has a Deal in writing with Zurich) who own the compton group im led to believe A MODERN DAY ROBIN HOOD OF A COMPANY

Poor communication and service

Poor communication and service. Ground rent is £3 per year yet had to pay £25 for a receipt to assist with house sale. Still not received after 5 days. Rang to chase, no help. This is preventing sale of a property and costing us more money. Trying to speak to anyone who wishes to assist is impossible.

I AM 80 YEARS OLD I DONT NEED THIS UPSET .I HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY BILLS ON TIME.LIKE OTHER REVIEWERS I FIND COMPTON GROUP UNFAIR AND UNCARING,I HAVE BEEN IN THE PROPERTY I OWN FOR 40 YEARS AND ALWAYS PAID MY OWN INSURANCE,THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF FAMILY ILLNESS I DIDNT INFORM COMPTON OFF MY RENEWAL SO THEY ARE HOUNDING ME AND TELLING ME I HAVE NO CHOICE AND TO CHANGE TO ZURICH BUT BECAUSE IVE ALREADY RENEWED MY INSURANCE THEY WILL NOT PUT ME IN BREACH IF I PAY £70 DECENT COMPANIES SEND REMINDERS.SOMETIMES BECAUSE SITUATIONS HAPPEN IN LIFE ITS EASY TO OVERLOOK THINGS , BUT IT SEEMS LIKE COMPTON GROUP POUNCE ON THIS.DISGRACEFUL.

Helpful and fun management company

I feel a lot of the bad reviews on here are purely because people don’t get the answer they think they are entitled to. I have recently moved into a property managed by the Compton group and I must say out of the 14 different apartments I’ve lived in, the Compton group are by far the best I have dealt with. They are helpful, fun and made me feel valued and respected. I have never had building management make me laugh like they have and I felt so welcomed and like I can approach them at any time. Especially Jean Jones, what an incredible lady!

Overly agressive company

Compton Group manage a block that I own a flat in, and the experience has been extremely poor.

They operate in a heavy-handed, aggressive manner and appear to act solely in the freeholder’s interests, with little regard for leaseholders. Even when an invoice is only a few days overdue, they escalate immediately to “before action” letters rather than attempting any reasonable or proportionate communication.

The overall approach feels intimidating and unnecessarily confrontational. It creates an environment where, despite owning your property, you don’t feel a genuine sense of ownership or respect as a leaseholder.

I appreciate that property management is a challenging sector, but Compton Group stand out for the wrong reasons. Of the many management companies we’ve dealt with over the years, this has been one of the worst experiences.

We believe that your review relates to the recovery of contributions to your share of the cost of a buildings insurance policy, rather than day to day property management.

The freeholder has to pay the insurance company the insurance premium whether you make your contribution on time or not. Thus, we have to move quickly to secure payment.

I owed an annual small ground rent…

I owed an annual small ground rent charge (£75) which is normally paid around Christmas. Due to Christmas and going on holiday i forgot to pay the charge. However, after returning from holiday tonight, ive had a letter stating that they will be issuing court proceedings if I don't pay immediately, oh and a ridiculous admin charge. Bloody hell, a bit heavy handed, how about a reminder. Never had dealings with any financial company in all my life like these. Agree, absolute vile company. There really needs to be something done about this company, as looking at the reviews they seem like bullying vile creatures. I will be raising this issue with my local MP, not so much for me but others who have the unfortunatr experience of having to deal with them.

Charged ridiculous admin fees

Charged ridiculous admin fees for doing absolutely nothing. We have paid 39x the cost of our rent charge on admin fees. If you buy a property where they own the rent charge GET OUT. We found out 2 months into our new home that we had to insure through Zurich according to their rules, when questioned, we were told 'your solicitor should have told you this' but how could they when they didn't know? So we had to pay them £70 to stay with our current insurer- why? Who knows.

Life ruining

I came to trust pilot to see if I was alone in my feelings about this company and I am mortified by two things:
The amount of negative reviews about them.
The cold responses Compton are giving on here.
I am trying to sell my property - yet Comptons are insistent on getting me more and more in debt by not releasing important documentation - to the point where it is seriously affecting my mental state. After paying them over £2000 this month - a mixture of arrears and standard payments, they now require another £1K for works that have not even begun yet. They keep dangling the paperwork like a carrot and then asking for more and more money. I feel abused, like they are playing some kind of game with me and they are enjoying pushing me to the very limits of my sanity.

There is no empathy, no consideration yet most of all, no consistent communication. I have never experienced anything like this.

The one star I've been forced to give can go to Jean Jones - as when FINALLY getting through to her, she provided more clarity in 5 minutes than anyone else did in the other hours I've put it to contacting them.
