Very easy to book, the site was lovely. The only minor negative was the caravan was a bit dated. Very clean though.

It was quick and efficient.

We had a lovely holiday. Initial booking was easy. Follow-up communication with Canvas wasn’t alway straightforward or clear. We needed to make changes to our booking and travel as our daughter became a wheelchair user after we had made our initial booking. They took a while to respond to emails, and we had to chase up for response. We managed to get everything sorted in the end, but it meant emailing whilst on holiday which takes isn’t that relaxing.

Lovely campsite. Excellent facilities and bags of activities for the grandchildren! They loved the aquatic areas and made great use of them every day!
Our only reservation concerns the bedding which was not as user-friendly as on other campsites. Fitted sheets and duvets would be a big improvement!

Very straight forward to book as usual, hopefully my choice of position on the campsite will be read by the staff on the campsite.

I had a distupt with my booking. When I booked the accommodation it included oven and TV, when I phoned up to ask a completely different question I found out I had neither TV or Oven in my accommodation. The customer service lady Jackie was very helpful and sorted the issue out promptly and changed the accommodation.
My advise would be to make the accommodation information very clear before people book and not getting what they ask for.

Booked another family holiday - had brilliant help online with a few queries we had with our chosen holiday. Have always had brilliant holidays with Canvas.

The site was ideal for a family holiday. Pool, bouncy castles, play area. Staff very helpful and welcoming. For the adults a small bar on site very reasonably priced.
The location of the site in Lancieux was only 10 minutes car trip to several clean beaches.
Would definitely visit again.

The positives - We found the staff very friendly and helpful and they spoke good English. The site is well organised and very clean and tidy. There are good facilities regarding swimming pools and water slides. The staff provide regular entertainment which the kids and younger families enjoy. The shop provides a range of bread and croissants for breakfast which is very nice too. Super U is literally 10 minutes walk away and about 3-4 minutes by car. The beach is a similar distance to walk to.

The Negatives - there could be more information leaflets in the reception in English regarding attractions in the area and things to do and see. More English signage for recycling would be useful.
The WiFi around the bar was not working and had not been since the beginning of the season apparently. Given that WiFi IS available if you pay for it it’s disappointing and poor that the free WiFi hasn’t been fixed.

Overall we had a good holiday and enjoyed our stay and we would recommend a family holiday at this site.

Quick and efficient in changing details. Holidays have been amazing in the past and am looking fwd to my next one.. easy online booking and all relevant paper work is sent immediately.

Our second experience with Canvas that has been utterly disappointing, from booking through to after care. This year, after essentially being advised by canvas to 'spend more to get more' (last years van was despicable) we ended up in a home that was larger than we needed but our pitch was terrible. Crammed in and almost touching the next caravan, very unclean on arrival, bathroom smelt terrible, loud noise until midnight every might even though canvas described site as quiet/relaxed. We were told they could resolve by moving us mid hol and am yet to receive a reply to an email sent nearly two weeks ago - not even an acknowledgement. They will take your money and run. Do not care at all about the value of money to customers and their holiday experiences. Never again.

Canvas holidays and Marvilla parks

We returned from a month holiday in France. 3 weeks of this staying on the Lac du Provence site ( MarvillaParks) in Provence in the south of France.
I payed for a 2 bed premium mobile home with dishwasher. This was going to be a real help as I had broken my wrist a few weeks before. Arriving on the 12th June
We were given the keys and went down and started to unpack
This mobile home was very disappointing and not what I’d payed for. No dishwasher. Lack of kitchen equipment. Soft cushions of the couch completely ripped under the window. No kettle. The reception was now closed and we couldn’t do anything until morning. The following day we found that the shower rail would not move. The shower head at the top of the rail and facing the wall. Useless. The shower tray did not empty properly and still did not when we left.
We reported this to reception and hoped to be moved.
Not so. The reception staff chatted and kept looking at the laptop and said they would have to contact head office for a refund and get back to us. No other van available.
In the meantime we went shopping
On return, there was a note on the table apologising. Stating that we would received a 91.23 euro refund. Also a kettle and a pack of biscuits. The shower head was fixed.
So so upsetting.
We then found ants in the kitchen, which we reported and was told someone would come and spray. No.
A couple of days later the ants were everywhere. In both bedrooms on the beds and in the cupboards in the clothes. My husband was very angry and demanded something being done immediately or to be moved to another van,site or we would leave and he would sue. The inside was sprayed immediately.
We then had ants on the outside eating area. Sprayed again.
I went into reception at least 3 times to find out about my refund. It was not in my bank account. All they said was it had been sent on the 13/6 and to contact my bank. I did. This proved very difficult as there was extremely limited internet access. Had to leave the site to make a phone call. There was no evidence of any deposit from Marvilla Parks. The staff were definitely not interested in helping and seemed to favour French/other European tourists.
I hated being on that site. Tried to contact Canvas holidays (who we had booked it through) on a number of occasions. No success.
Either no one answered or we got cut off.
Still no refund after leaving the site. As we checked into a hotel after driving halfway back I then found a withdrawal of £77.58 from my account.
We telephoned Canvas holidays, managed to get through and discussed this. we were informed they would investigate and be in touch . They didn’t.
If you’re thinking of booking a Marvilla Parks site or Canvas holiday DONT. What shameful companies
My holiday was completely spoilt
We later had a call from a lady from Eurocamp holidays.
Canvas and Eurocamp all now part of a larger company.
She refunded £200 pounds saying she couldn’t understand what was going on and to email canvas when home. We did and received a reference number for investigation.
Suprise suprise, no contact
They’ve had our money, they don’t care.
Poor poor service Canvas holidays

Loved the French campsite we stayed at but wouldn’t book with Canvas again. The cleaning expectations at the end of the stay were ridiculous and added stress to the holiday (I had to buy cleaning supplies whilst there). I have stayed with Eurocamp before and understand that the caravan has to be left clean and tidy. Canvas expectations included mopping under the beds (almost no space around the edge of the beds to angle a mop underneath), cleaning the toilet brush (?!), cleaning chairs, bins, mirrors, cupboards, almost every element of the caravan. For this there was a dirty mop, dirty broom, one tiny bottle of cleaning fluid and one cloth provided. We spent a long time cleaning and I felt that all the canvas staff would need to do was collect the pile of sheets/towels and drop off new ones before the next guests arrived.
In addition, the caravan was poorly equipped (Comfort XL) and had a very basic feel. Only steak knives provided, no other knives. Drinking glasses that were tiny. No oven or grill. Curtains that didn’t fully cover the windows. No insect screen or black out options at the windows. Lounge seating was wipe-clean and incredibly uncomfortable. One email from Canvas two days after we arrived and no other information or contact from them for the whole stay.
We did get a bigger caravan than we had booked (2 bathrooms rather than 1) which I appreciated. But just be warned to factor in a lot of cleaning if you stay with Canvas in France!

Booked with Canvas Holidays in January for our summer holiday in August..received an email from Canvas Holidays 10 days before our departure to inform us that they were downgrading our accommodation because they had overbooked..we were left with no option but to accept it as we could not cancel due to this information being relayed to us so close to our holiday…the accommodation we received was terrible and ruined our holiday. If we wanted rubbish accommodation that’s what we would have booked!! It was forced upon us! We will never book with Canvas Holidays again. They waited to inform us so close to our holiday and knew we would not be in a position to cancel and find an alternative..a disgraceful company

Each time I've called they don't answer the phone. It just leaves you waiting. They need more call handlers as this is really poor customer service.

Description of site was wrong. No restaurant on site. No shop on site. These were big factors of convenience when choosing the site. Arrived to find out we had to travel to other camp sites and shops for food. There was a limited (burger or pizza) take away on site but no great quality. Site was pretty clean but the site images were definitely taken some years back. Map in website that shows restaurant, arcade room etc is out of date, these don't exist. Images are very misleading. Canvas offered us 100 euro back after we complained when we returned home (this took months to get from them). We've used them multiple times before and while not perfect they seemed ok. Based on this though, I'll never use them again. Awful customer experience especially when things went wrong.

Ps. Months later now after we have complained their website still has of this false information for camping L'Étoile de Mer site.

I’m sorry to say that Canvas Holidays is not offering the service it used to. We holidayed with Canvas for about 15 years while our children were young (20+ years ago) and fancied a trip down memory lane. However, we had a few issues with the Dordogne camp site booked with Canvas Holidays that were to do with cleanliness, maintenance and facilities. When we pointed these out in our feedback we had a long and very defensive response that can be summarised as 'We're a French camp site that caters for French people, please don't book with us again'.
Unfortunately there was no Canvas rep on site and the camp site owners confirmed that Canvas merely act as a booking agent. Part of what made Canvas special over other similar companies was that they had their own reps on site who maintained Canvas standards, not the individual site owner’s interpretation of what is acceptable. The friendly Canvas reps were consistently excellent and played a big part of our loyalty to Canvas.
It may be that Canvas do have reps on some sites but as this is not made clear when booking you’d be taking pot luck. Sadly, as you gain nothing by booking through Canvas my advice would be to book directly with the camp site or go through another travel company who do maintain a presence on site.

We are staying at manor Farm in Interlaken what an amazing place! This is our 6 th year booking the same campsite with canvas holidays. The mobile we go for is the 3 bed with air conditioning. It’s spotlessly clean on arrival with everything equipped you need. We bring our own bedding as we like that and drive here as we bring our bikes. But there really isn’t any need to. The lovely couple who are our canvas reps, are very friendly, helpful with any queries, and do their upmost to help in any way. They work extremely hard to achieve a perfect camping holiday for all. The mobiles are very comfortable, and clean. I wouldn’t like to be in Interlaken without air conditioning from June / September as can get very hot. Having the lake a short walk away is a wonderful bonus in the heat of the day, it’s beautiful to swim in, crystal clear water. Which is lots of hours of fun! You can see so much in this area, always something to do. If the weather isn’t good we go into Interlaken to the swimming pool, inside and outside pools, which are amazing! You get a camping card for free entry .The cycling is amazing, the views breathtaking! I have an eBike so I can keep up with my husband to go high up in the mountains where words can’t express the views!
We took our 10 year old granddaughter this year, as she was able to experience all the area offers & loved it! Lots of families of all ages young and old like us! But all ages it suits, but you need to be a bit active to fully enjoy. Having a bike here is really a must as it’s a bit far to walk into Interlaken and get to the train stations, 2.6 miles, but there is a good bus service of you can get a boat ride as short walk away!. We used the car more this year as had family with us, parking wasn’t a problem but definitely easier to park your bike!
Fantastic restaurant on site which make’s really good quality food at an average Switzerland price, nothing is cheap here! Amazing pizzas! Good stocked shop on site for essentials, you get 30 mins a day free internet or perches for 3chf a days internet.
Canvas is a good price for staying in Switzerland, accommodation here is high, great option. We definitely recommend to come! Our thanks again to canvas & to the fantastic reps on site to accommodate us in our favourite mobile!

From start to finish well run operation. Mobile home was great, site was great I can’t understand the bad comments on the bar as I found all the staff brilliant, enjoyed many a pastis, I think a lot of people don’t make an effort. Weather was great, will definitely return.
