Leaving this review on behalf of my mother who is in her 80s and has purchased from Calvert’s for many years mainly due to her inability to shop online. She recently purchased a new cooker since the previous Hotpoint one was faulty and was outside of the warranty (bought from Calvert’s a couple of years ago). After paying for a repair which did not fix the issue, she then purchased a different cooker and within hours of it being fitted realised that there were scrapes on the inside of the top oven from the grill pan. Immediately she brought this to the attention of the shop (the model in the shop has the same problem) and was told she could have a refund. It’s due to be collected today and when she went back in to order a different cooker she was told that she was now barred from making any further purchases. Disgusting way to treat a vulnerable elderly customer who has spent a considerable amount of money there over the years.

UPDATE: Typical response! No denying any of the issues raised in the feedback however I fail to see how ‘abused’ the male staff member felt from an elderly woman barely five feet tall using a walker for mobility issues. Ridiculous. Maybe the owner does not appreciate a bit of straight talking when called out for his dismissive approach the day prior. A little bit of sour grapes perhaps when a faulty item needed to be returned. Not a good reflection on customer service. Also take note that she is now left with the cooker electrical feed taped up until a new one is delivered which surely poses more of an actual ‘risk’ than that felt by the staff by the straight talking of an old woman. Take heed if buying from here. Great when everything is working ok but their response to a genuine and warranted complaint tells you all you need to know.

Calverts have just supplied us with a built in oven and induction hob and the service from start to finish was first class. The customer service was excellent and the installers did a great job.

Calvert supplied, and had fitted a new AEG 55cm gas cooker for us - everything was on time, we had minimum disruption, and the cooker is working well.
We were kept in touch about delivery date and time and the logistics went well, including the gas fitter who fitted it and set it working.

Ordered a carpet on 3 March 2025 for installation on 10 April 2025 so gave more than plenty notice…
We got a phone call on 9 April (the day before fitting) that they had shortage of fitters and said they couldn’t carry out work until 8 May 2025!!!!!….absolutely ridiculous as we have young children running round with dangerous gripper rods we now have to remove for safety …for a company this size not to have fitters available is a joke or their sub contractors don’t want to work for Calvert’s!….we have had all our house supplied by carpets……!, not this one …we cancelled the order requested a refund and will not be returning again…. Terrible …. We intend taking our business elsewhere and will make sure we do not recommend this company ….

Ordered Intergrated washing machine on Tuesday with help from an experienced chap in Seaham shop. It was fitted Thursday into what l worried was a very tight space without any fuss. The fitters were friendly & efficient, the unit door was lined up properly & old machine removed, all at a reasonable cost. Not used this company before but will certainly use again, thank you Calverts.

Having recently moved we needed all new appliances. I spoke with the manager Stuart how arranged the order for us. All Bosch appliances at very competitive rates. One item that was due to delivered was unfortunately out of stock with Bosch. Stuart called me before hand to advise and went through similar stock with us. We chose one cheaper and the refund for the difference was processed promptly.

The fitters used were both friendly and professional. Cannot fault the service from Stuart at Calvert's.

Why use the big boys when the independent stores provide a far better service.

Visited Calvert's at the Nook South Shields as we live nearby. Our integrated fridge freezer stopped working shortly before Xmas and they were able to supply and fit one the next day also take away the old appliance also the packaging, as this was only a few days before the holidays we found this service amazing. Many thanks.

Competitive prices and excellent customer service.
We had two built in appliances installed, fridge/freezer went in ok but dishwasher was a problem. Although it must have made them late on their next job they made sure all was ok before they left. With service like that why go anywhere else. Good experience from start to finish.

Went in to store at nook,gentleman very helpful bought integrated washer, price included delivery,collection of old washer and fitting fantastic 5 stars,fitted 2 days after bought, fitters were great nothing a bother

Our fridge freezer gave up this morning. We went to Calverts in Fulwell at 9am, by 11am the fridge had been delivered and I had restocked it. If I could have given more than 5 stars for this company I would have. Proper knowledgeable customer service is provided by the staff with lovely delivery men. We would never go anywhere else for kitchen appliances.

Just called about a ninja duel zone air fryer advertised at £230, was told he had two in stock but due to demand he was charging £399, absolute rip off a price hike of £170, also advertised as price match which they obviously don't do, false advertising and a greedy greedy b****** don't go there.

My washer broke down over Christmas, one call to Calverts and my New washer was delivered the following day. I have dealt with calverts a number of times over the years and would not go anywhere else. I usually deal with Stephen, this time I dealt with John, Fist class customer service as always.

phoned to see if they had sky remotes in stock, the lady assistant promised to call back and a bit later i received her call and she said they had them in store and a technician would program the code in to the device so it was ready for use, i called at the shop the next day and all was done and dusted in 10 minutes, excellent service and their products are top quality, i have purchased tv, soundbar, fridge from them and never had a problem with them.

We visited Calverts in South Shields, where we met a very friendly and knowledgeable assistant. She checked availability and arranged a realistic delivery date. I received a call on the morning of delivery and our fridge freezer was installed efficiently. This is our first experience of Calverts and certainly will not be our last.

Calvert’s service was recommended to us when we were looking to replace kitchen appliances with a range of Miele products. A visit to the Seaham store confirmed our decision to place our trust in them. The staff were so helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. They gave their time, advice and expertise. Understandably, the appliances needed to be ordered, together with a predicted delivery date post-Christmas. No problem. Happy to wait! We were kept up to date, as promised, by John. In early January, three charming fitters delivered our new hob, oven & microwave, and installed with remarkable speed and efficiency. From start to finish, this was an extremely reassuring experience. Replacing such products is an expensive business. It was great to know our order was in such good hands! Calvert’s? We wouldn’t go anywhere else!! Brilliant!
