I recently joined the 5 Stans Tour with Alex as our tour director, and it was nothing short of incredible. Starting in Turkmenistan, watching the Darvaza Gas Crater glow beneath the desert stars was an unforgettable way to begin a journey that only became more captivating with each new country. Alex’s organisation and knowledge made everything effortless — every hotel, transfer, and experience ran seamlessly. The accommodation throughout was excellent, offering the right mix of comfort and local charm. A standout highlight was spending a night in a yurt camp in Kyrgyzstan, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and endless stars — a moment that felt both grounding and magical. What I loved most about this trip was how unexplored it all felt. The Five Stans remain one of the few places where you don’t feel like a tourist — you feel like a local. From chatting with shopkeepers in small mountain villages to sharing tea with families in their homes, there was a genuine warmth and openness that made every encounter meaningful. The balance between adventure and comfort was perfect — wandering the intricate Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan, crossing dramatic mountain passes in Tajikistan, and finishing among the sleek, modern streets of Kazakhstan. Each country offered something unique, yet together they formed a journey rich in history, culture, and discovery. Alex’s passion for the region shone through in every detail, and his thoughtful guidance made it easy to fully immerse myself in the experience. This wasn’t just a tour — it felt like being welcomed into a part of the world that few truly get to know. Beautifully organised, authentic, and absolutely unforgettable. I'm still in awe and cannot believe the places I've seen and what I experienced, and I would do it all over again.
