Buildstore have been fantastic for me. Where other advisors were pessimistic and sometimes advising I couldn’t obtain the self build mortgages I needed, Buildstore obtained them quickly providing detailed advice along the way whilst having to put up with me.

Their fees for the amount of time they spent and work they did were entirely reasonable.

Could not recommend enough

Absolutely brilliant team to work with. Took all the stress out of my build on the monetary side. Always there to help and went out of their way to organise things. A huge thanks to andy, great guy to deal with.

I have received quick and accurate information from the team and I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. Great service all round, helpful & on tap whenever you need them for help or advice.

Wanted to put a building plot on Anglesey up for sale with plotsearch but the personal questions they are asking for especially online with identity fraud at an all time high were extremely intrusive and not necessary. They are clearly asking questions to sell your information on. No thanks, I like to keep my business private. Luckily I have found other sites who just require an email address to join.

This review was flagged by buildstore as incorrect and they haven't heard of me. Interesting as i have voice recording from both calls and the name of the mystery adviser that i never spoke to. ill pop it on facebook for you to have a listen.

Called twice to get a quote for build…
Called twice to get a quote for build mortgage. First time told email illustration will be sent. Nothing came. Called again told would get a call back to discuss. No call. If they can’t do this bit right, god help you with the rest of the process. Used you in 2010 and was faultless service. Clearly don’t give a toss now.

Hi Paul - we unfortunately have no record of your contacting BuildStore, and despite our request for more information to look into this via Trustpilot, you have not responded. Your complaint seems odd for several reasons, but in particular, because you say you called for a quote and an illustration was being emailed to you.

When a customer contacts BuildStore, the first step is to assess their project and financial circumstances. If we can help, the next step is to arrange an initial appointment for you with a mortgage adviser, not to email an illustration. An illustration is sent further down the line, by which time, we would have considerable detail in our systems relating to your enquiry. It is for this reason that we have flagged your review.

I approached Buildstore to assist us get a mortgage for a self build which we were doing ourselves, we took all the advice that was given, but due to them not giving us the correct advice or omitting to give us some of the facts. we have now spent £340,000 on a project and cannot get a remortgage on it due to this advice. considering they are one of or the biggest self build mortgage brokers, I think this is shocking, I have raised this issue with them several times over the past couple of years and they never get back to me. 2 years on I can still not remortgage the property.

Michael, Tommy and Robin helped our application immensely. Quick to respond and comprehensive guidance along the way.

I have enjoyed working with the BuildStore team on every stage of my build. They have been brilliant, efficient and helpful for me to navigate through the process and I look forward to working with the team again in the near future.

Claire is our contact who could not have been more helpful she went the extra mile for us. You have a fantastic resource in her.

Avoid at all costs. Bad service, bad advice. Having been told a lender had approved my application, they made me spand a lot of money on surveys and other services and then said the lender decided against my application after all. Save your money.

Excellent service from Claire. As a novice self-builder Claire talked me through how the stage release process works in practice and what’s required to get your house officially signed off.

She went the extra mile with an additional query of mine (which wasn’t directly related to BuildStore) and all in all the service was nothing short of excellent.

Spot on. Helpful. Couldn't ask for more

We have recently started our first self build project and we needed to secure funds to allow us to complete. Although we have always had mortgages a self build mortgage was completely alien to us. Buildstore were absolutely amazing from start to finish! They were so informative and helpful and really did go above and beyond. This isn't a straightforward build due to issues with the land and we had to try various lenders. The communication was fantastic and they kept us in the loop at every step of the way. I couldn't rate this company highly enough.

My experience with Andy Lochrie in the Stage Release department has been second to none on two occasions.

He understands the business and is able to offer useful advice and prioritize accordingly...not just another representative who watches the clock all day.

Always polite, professional and attentive, his approach is one I admire.

I initially had a great experience with Buildstore, attempting to obtain an Agreement in Principle for a self build mortgage. However, I made it clear all the way through that a tight deadline existed that I needed the decision by, and initially there was more than enough time to achieve it, but have been unable to speak to my adviser now for a week. I provided all information and paperwork promptly whenever asked. However, the adviser dealing with my case went on annual leave for a month with no warning, and so I had to repeat almost all of my information to the new adviser on my case. Unfortunately, this adviser went on annual leave within a day or two and despite telling me he would still be checking emails and making sure my case was processed, has been unresponsive for several days. Numerous calls to the office only result in "we'll get back to you" which is yet to happen. I contacted another contact I had initially spoken to see if she could help, and she is also on annual leave. Is the whole office on holiday and no one thought to mention it last week? The deadline by which I need this agreement in principle is now fast approaching and at the moment BuildStore seems intent on wasting my time.

Felt the need to write this review. Andy Lochrie dealt with me today, I explained my situation and I needed things to happen fast. He told me he will update me when he gets a response form the lender. Which luckily happend quite quick considering the situation we are in. Then he instantly updated me by email. After that he got the deal done and called me with the good news which was in less 24hs your request will be complete. So thanks for keeping me updated Andy and getting it sorted so quick. I understand that this isn’t always the case but just keeping me in the loop meant a lot 👍🏽 #givehimapayrise
