BaT protects the liars and carpetbaggers.
BaT protects the dealers many of whom are liars and carpetbaggers. The BaT staff are a bunch of losers, dweebs, nerds and arrogant assholes that barely work. I suspect many of them are working in their parents basements. They are deliberately anonymous and unaccountable. They suppress legitimate and pertinent comments. You can’t call them.
Another bad experience with Bring a trailer
Hi there, I was fortunate?/maybe NOT to be the winner of an auction on BaT.1932 plymouth located in Evansville IN. The seller contacted me and wanted more money. Or he would not go through with the sale. I immediately contacted (voice mail and that is all that you will ever get from BaT) and it has been a week and no response from anyone at BaT. I have emailed them and still no response. I see that it is obvious and everyone should know this: the only thing that BaT wants is $money. Money to list an auction and instant charge to a winner. If something or someone is not honorable. BaT does not want to resolve the problem. Nor will they care. The way they see it. (We got our money, move on to the next succor)
California is too loose with thier rules. Other states must start banning BaT from thier state . And this must be enforced until BaT gets thier act straight or go broke.
Edit. Auction fees were refunded. Did BaT have choice? BaT sent an email stating that the auction fees will be refunded. I have learned my lesson, and will not be back on BaT.

They're unprofessional and liars.
They're irresponsible and unprofessional.
They only let me list my F-150 at the price they wanted, then they sold it for less and claimed they'd cover the difference. Then they blamed me for something I knew nothing about, causing the buyer of my truck to cancel the purchase.
It's completely ridiculous.
This website is a disaster...

Couldn’t even list my
Item for the reserve I wanted - a completely restored 96 Dodge Ram 12v and they told
Me first to list it with no reserve ( so they could get paid no matter what) amd when I refused they decided to offer me $10k less than my reserve price of $20k - what a Joke - everyone knows a restored 12v in excellent condition is worth more than $20k - JOKE Company , I listed on marketplace and sold it first day !
I've tried listing a car and some wall…
I've tried listing a car and some wall art. Both of which I've seen similiar representations on their site but my submissions have been rejected. They do not communicate with you that your submission is rejected, they just go dark. I've had to send emails asking about my submissions only to be told they are very selective. I call BS as I've seen some of their "selections." I did have a good experience with them on one sale years ago, but its seems over the last few years, the communication has dropped off completely. We build replica cars and now will not give them that business.
My experience with Bring a Trailer has been absolutely terrible.
My experience with Bring a Trailer has been absolutely terrible. The communication and customer service were among the worst I have ever experienced in my life.
Before I decided to sell, there were plenty of promises and positive words. But once the auction was completed, they completely ignored me. My phone calls were unanswered, my emails were ignored, and all I received were automated replies telling me to respond by email — yet nobody ever replied personally.
I even sent two separate emails after the auction ended and still have not received any response whatsoever. The lack of professionalism, communication, and basic respect toward customers is shocking.
I cannot recommend anyone to sell with Bring a Trailer. The arrogance and complete disregard for customer contact after the sale are unacceptable. I will never use Bring a Trailer again.
This review is unfortunately well deserved due to the catastrophic experience I had.
Best regards,
Peter Ryber
3rd vehicle purchased a nightmare. BAT has zero accountability. Seller review system is a must in the future.
I first off want to start by saying I’ve had great experiences on Bringatrailer with the previous 2 cars I’ve won. I couldn’t have been more lucky with those two vehicles and the sellers who sold me those cars.
My third purchase on Bringatrailer has been the worst car purchase experience in my life.
I recently won this 2008 Mercedes ML63 AMG on 03/27/2026. Which I still have not received the title for and total payment was paid to the seller on 03/30/2026.
When the vehicle was delivered, I immediately checked the engine out and there was oil pooling up on both sides of the valve cover. I contacted the seller that moment to let them know.
I took the ML63 to my local Mercedes specialist shop to have them fix the oil leak. They replaced the Valve Cover Gaskets which were previously done per the Carfax @ 74,125 on 03/05/2018 @ Mercedes-Benz of Bonita Springs Naples, Florida.
The seller claims he didn’t know about the valve cover gasket leak even though it’s apparent the oil leaks were wiped off before the Bringatrailer listing photos were taken. In his words… the gaskets went bad because “Yeah they’re made of plastic I guess and the car is in Florida where it’s hot”.
On the BAT listing, the Seller had every angle under the vehicle besides under the engine bay and this is because there was a ton of oil all over the skid plate. They 100% knew about the valve cover gasket leak and instead of being decent human-beings they purposely hid this to make a few more dollars.
The front grille is completely broken on the vehicle as well which isn’t a huge deal but there goes another couple hundred dollars to replace when it should have been stated in the listing. They also did their best to hide the broken front grille tabs in the photos and were not easily seen unless you really inspected that area in the photos. Both tabs are broken in the photos but seller claims “only one tab was broken when the car was in his possession”. Not sure if the seller even looked at this car to be honest.
The vehicle was not properly listed on Bringatrailer. These clearly visible issues should have been mentioned on the listing by the Seller instead of being hidden.
This is going to be on-going issue with the platform unless BAT does something to force integrity. In my opinion, a review systems needs to be added for Sellers or at least for Dealers operating on BAT.
Edit* just got the car back from the shop. Has a broken passenger mirror as well.
Unfortunately bringatrailer customer service has failed me on this as well. Zero help and zero consequences for the dealer.
Pattern of misrepresenting vehicles for online auction
Very disappointing experience with a Bring a Trailer purchase involving a 1958 Jaguar XK150. The car had significant undisclosed issues, including severe structural rust, a major exhaust leak, and other safety problems that make it unsafe to drive. These defects were not clearly shown or mentioned in the listing, despite extensive photos and an “imperfections” video.
Attempts to resolve the issue with the seller (Collectible Classics) went unanswered, and Bring a Trailer declined to take responsibility, stating they do not inspect vehicles and placing the burden entirely on the buyer.
This sale was one instance of a pattern established by collectible classics, which repeatedly conducts illegal sales on bring a trailer.
Bring a trailer has enabled the continuance of illegal practices by collectible classes, by allowing new listings, and removing comments and warnings from previous buyers, in new auctions.

"We purchased a supposedly original 19k miles 1985 Mercedes Benz SL in very good condition, rustfree, without major defects. It was purchased over Bring a Trailer and arrived at our shop. Problems which weren't mentioned in the adverstisment and not photographed: - Frame completely rusted through - Soft Top damaged with a big cut - Rusted through front lip held in place with zip ties - Rust all over the car - Vin number in the Front rusted away - Miles are not original (found a receipt with higher mileage) - Muffler has rust holes"

"Buyers Beware! I bought a car from bring a trailer on auction. The auction went very smooth, payment was easy but that’s where it stopped. "Was made to believe (on Bring a Trailer) that wiring harness on 1995 Mercedes Benz cabriolet had been replaced when in fact it had not. The vehicle arrived with no rear view mirror and Check engine and SRS light bulbs were removed from instrument cluster. Wiring harness and rear view mirror cost me $2509.00 and $309.00 respectively. Other than that, the vehicle was fine. Transacting and communicating with Greg went well. Buyer beware.

Lousy service
Lousy service, took a long time to find out I could not list my car with my low protection. They took 10 days only to find out I can list it with THEIR low which was 10k less. What a joke! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, where someone cares, and is knowledgeable of the car industry. I was a car dealer for 40 years, been to many auctions.......this is bull, and a scam!!!!!
Horrible communication and pushy to…
Horrible communication and pushy to sell cars at no reserve auctions. This tells me they have somone buying cars on the cheap first choice probably an investor
Dealer manipulation to inflate prices killed the site. BaT doesn't care.
After being on here for a couple of months trying to buy a specific type of car, it became really obvious how much this site is manipulated by mostly dealers. It's just another "public auction" scam site. You will see over and over again a dealer list a vehicle, then an obvious shill account come and bid up the price. By obvious I mean a shill account that has bid on dozens of different types of vehicles, but never won anything. BaT clearly doesn't have analytics to see these accounts, or doesn't care as they bring up the price to increase their own commissions.
Dealers keep prices inflated. It is easy to search the VIN online and see what really happens to a car. A dealer will buy a car at wholesale auction, detail it, and say the don't know anything about it. Set a high reserve and when it doesn't sell just kick it to wholesale auction for a fraction of the non winning bid, and try again with another. The are expecting that 1 car they made really high margins on to pay for all the others that didn't sell. Dealers make all kinds of excuses to refuse to have the car inspected. I've been told "I'm on holiday", "we only allow inspections 24 hours before auction end", "we only allow inspection if the reserve is met", "I can't allow inspection because I don't want to ruin my relationship with Bat" Pure lies.
Not in business to do business! The customer being the seller means nothing to them!
Been selling cars all my life and have the worst experience in my life with bring a trailer. I was taught by my grandfather who sold cars for more than 50 years. They're not in business to do business. They're after a quick buck and a quick sale in fostering their unnerving entitled West Coast behavior. They have no logic or deductive reasoning on how to set auction reserves. Save your time and aggravation as there are better auction houses out there.
I was recently bidding on a vehicle
I was recently bidding on a vehicle, totally shield bidding!! I was the very last bidder, the clock kept resetting!! I looked at the other bidders… they never won an auction, but did a ton of bidding!!! Total shield!! AND there aren’t any deals!!! Don’t kid yourself!
BAT scrupulous business practices
I have contacted BAT on five prior occasions regarding a serious breach of confidentiality
related to my vehicle listing, yet I have received no response from anyone at your company.
Specifically, a BAT employee disclosed my confidential reserve price to a third party prior to
my listing going live. This constitutes a clear breach of contract and a violation of basic seller
trust.
In addition, I have repeatedly raised concerns about BAT’s deliberate suppression of my
comments on auctions, particularly those involving so-called “Partner Sellers.” This continued censorship has directly affected my ability to participate fairly in auctions and recently influenced the outcome of a sale to my detriment and to the benefit of a Partner Seller.
During the most recent auction, a commenter asserted that the current bid price was too low and encouraged higher bidding, citing a 2022 sale of a similar 700-mile car for $238,000. In response, I researched all black 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS sales on BAT since that time and identified seven subsequent sales, each closing below $130,000. I provided the mileage and sale dates using data sourced directly from BAT’s own website.
Despite the accuracy and relevance of this information, BAT refused to publish my comment.
This selective moderation served only to shield a Partner Seller and artificially support a
higher valuation for the vehicle.
This conduct mirrors my earlier experience as a seller, in which BAT improperly disclosed my reserve price.
By suppressing factual, relevant commentary on Partner Seller listings, BAT is failing to operate as a neutral marketplace and is instead favoring high-volume or preferred sellers.
This undermines the integrity of the auction process and violates BAT’s obligation to provide a fair and transparent platform for all users
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with Bring a Trailer. The platform does not seem to encourage open and honest discussion, comments feel restricted, and I was limited in my ability to ask questions or participate fully in bidding.
There is also virtually no customer service or any meaningful way to speak with someone directly. Trying to get assistance feels impossible, which is unacceptable for a platform handling high-dollar vehicle transactions.
The community aspect was equally frustrating. Instead of thoughtful discussion about the vehicles, it often feels like people are more focused on getting attention or collecting likes for their comments.
On top of that, the buyer’s premium is excessive for what the platform provides. Overall, I would strongly recommend exploring other avenues for purchasing vehicles before committing to Bring a Trailer. There are better, more transparent options available.
DON'T TRUST BRING A TRAILER !
This past December I was the winning bidder on a Bring a Trailer auction for a 1959 Morgan plus 4 DHC (drop head coupe). Within minutes of the auction close I was contacted by another BAT member who was familiar with the car, he pointed out Advantages: Inexpensive, lightweight, stable (does not warp easily in dry conditions), and provides a smooth, knot-free surface for laminating or painting.
Disadvantages: Poor moisture resistance (swells/deteriorates), low strength-to-weight ratio, poor screw-holding capability, and releases volatile organic compounds (VOC), when the car was restored cheap particleboard ( was substituted for the original marine grade plywood used by the Morgan factory in the rear body frame section. At some time the rear axle had impacted the cheap particleboard causing visible damage. I was continuously hounded by bring a trailer and the seller to complete the purchase. I then informed the seller and BAT that some sort of price adjustment would be called for to replace the fiberboard with plywood to repair the damage and insure the structural integrity of the car. And offered $24000 to accept the car in its present condition (an offer that I now regret making), The seller refused and so I in turn refused to complete the sale. The seller (who is not the owner, but a friend of the owner's son) then re-listed the car on BAT ( now including photos of the damage ) which only achieved a high bid of $17000, resulting in a No Sale. BAT is now refusing to refund my bidder and winner fees. I must now bring a small claims action against BAT to recover these funds; I had purchased a 1960 Morgan through BAT in October for $21000, which had many upgrades that this car was missing, so I am not a serial non-payer, I just want a car to be accurately described in the listing ! Why does BAT allow third parties to post cars that they have no first hand knowledge of and omit obvious faults, if this car was described in the original listing including the damage photos, I would have not bid on it at all... BAT needs to clean up their act, I will now see them in court, if they bother to show up !
No explanation why I could not list…
No explanation why I could not list with them. Customer service is the worst I have ever seen. Customer follow up is terrible. I have never left a bad review on a company in my life but this definitely the worst.
Horror Show
No seller support whatsoever. Also, there are the Trolls who disparage your vehicle and place low bids with no intention of winning/buying anything. I would place my experience with BAT in the category of Horror Show. It's better to go with a reputable consignment lot.
Car Arrived with the Police
I purchased a vehicle through Bring a Trailer (BaT) and utilized their checkout and delivery service, which proved to be a massive mistake. Upon delivery, police intercepted the carrier because the driver was transporting a stolen vehicle and narcotics alongside my car. During the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that the VIN tag on the car did not match the original tag shown in the auction listing.
Despite the severity of this issue, BaT’s customer service was non-existent. They have no phone support, and my multiple emails went completely ignored. Furthermore, their 'checkout service' acted as a middleman dealer that delayed my title for an entire month, rendering the car undriveable. Because the transaction was processed through this third party rather than the private seller, I was hit with significantly higher dealer-related taxes and fees. Once BaT took their cut, they completely abandoned the buyer.
The car also had bubbling paint due to some rust (not pictured or mentioned), several fuel leaks, a dipstick that was cut off and didn’t touch the oil, and the clutch went out on the first actual drive once I finally was able to get it registered.
I am not surprised at all of the other one star reviews after my experience.
EDIT: In response you your reply, @BaT:
I already emailed that email address multiple times with no response. Maybe actually check and respond to emails. Another thought…. Why not have a phone number a customer that is spending thousands can actually call? Why would I waste my time sending another email that will not be responded to. Respond and take action on my first emails sent months ago, and I will happily update my review showing that you tried to make it right.
