Jade and Callum made the process very smooth and were quick to respond to my many queries and put me at ease during various stages of the process.
Chased as required during the process with the other solicitors and fed back in a good time with responses.

I would strongly advise anyone considering this firm to think very carefully before using them.

Our house purchase took 2 years and ultimately never completed because the sellers pulled out. While not everything was within the solicitor’s control, the level of delay, poor communication and lack of basic case management throughout was frankly shocking.

We were passed between multiple solicitors, which meant constantly repeating information and never having consistent oversight of our case. At one point our assigned solicitor went on indefinite leave, something we were never informed about. We only discovered this when we received an out-of-office email with no return date, and had to chase the firm ourselves to find out who, if anyone, was now dealing with our case.

Response times were extremely slow. On one occasion I was actually “told off” for chasing within their two-working-day response window, despite the fact that the sellers had informed us the solicitors had been sitting on important paperwork for 4 weeks. Clearly, our concern was more than justified.

There were two major legal issues with the property: a boundary issue and a defected lease. While both were eventually identified, the handling of them caused huge delays. The boundary issue took months to resolve, and once that had finally been sorted, the firm then revealed the lease was still a problem but failed to explain how it could be rectified until this point. This caused yet more delays. During this period, we went around three months with virtually no communication at all from our solicitor.

They also held our Lifetime ISA funds for five months, despite the legal limit being 90 days. They were not even aware they were holding the funds until I specifically asked. When I raised concerns about lost interest and potential investment growth, I was told they would investigate with their accounting team but then never heard back.

To top it all off, when the sellers finally pulled out, we were not informed by the solicitors at all. We found out via the estate agent. It has now been weeks since then and we still have not heard a single word from our solicitor.

Overall, this has been an exhausting, stressful and deeply disappointing experience. Poor communication, lack of accountability and prolonged delays made what was already a difficult process far worse. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I used them for my divorce and Linda Pullinger was beyond amazing, she ensured that I understood everything and that I was in the loop. She was very professional and beyond efficient!
I used them for my house purchase and Ben Wilde was out of this world, he ensured that everything was as it should be and without him I doubt I would have got the house so quickly!
I am now using them to write my will.
Honestly 10/10 company and I will now only use them for everything that I need. Definitely an excellent team!

Our solicitor Karen was fantastic, never avoided a phone call and always got back to us within the day sent which is unusual for solicitors during the house buying process. The only fault I found is that the documentation that was sent to sign was quite difficult to get your head around and as a first time buyer I feel as though it would be beneficial to have some what your hand held and a clearer indication of where to sign. The process was a lot longer than expected to say we weren’t in a chain and it would have been good to know what the days were and on which side. Overall would definitely recommend using the solicitors for house purchasing.

Unfortunately, this is going to be a negative review. I asked them to handle my case as I was buying a property. The case was a straightforward one (a freehold), but all the company managed to do in one month (!) was an ID check.

Apparently, they had a big influx of clients at the time, but they were neither responsive nor honest about that. The real estate agent warned me about the Google reviews, which were mixed, but I still decided to go with Birchall Blackburn Law - a mistake on my part.

I would give them two stars because the conveyancing quote was very competitive and the web portal they used for communication was okay. However, doing nothing for a month doesn't really deserve anything more than 1/5.

I switched to a different provider when the sellers' representatives couldn't reach the people assigned to my case. I had to give them a call myself, unsuccessfully. I called them again, waited until the end of the day, and then asked them to stop working on my case as it was going nowhere.

Surprisingly, they responded to my cancellation email very quickly. It's definitely not a scam, but I was certainly disappointed. I was also able to get my money back since I had funds on my account that they hadn't used towards searches, etc

Beyond useless ........ in every single way!!!!!
Please do not trust these people with your house. They take forever - because of them dithering about, I lost the sale on my house 🙈🙈🙈

Always available at the end of the phone, always knowledgeable about the questions I asked, as well as being courteous, friendly and personable in his demeanour at all times. His calm and helpful nature was so helpful during stressful moments, and I always felt much better and reassured after every conversation I had with him.

Awful experience. From the start. Not contactable, despite multiple complaints. There is simply nothing good I can say. It has taken 7 months to complete on a house with no chain and no complications (still ongoing). Please save your money and look elsewhere.

These solicitors were handling the purchase of my property, they were very slow and not at all proactive, there was never one single person dealing with the purchase so it was difficult to get any information.
They were continually asking questions which were not relevant to the purchase.
After 10 month the sale fell through and we had to find a new buyer.
I would not recommend them to anyone, find a local company with a one to one relationship.

People I communicated were all knowledgeable and very professional in their dealings. Our business was conducted and concluded in a very timely manner.

I used Birchall Blackburn for my house purchase and the service was unacceptable. Communication was inconsistent and slow, with repeated missed calls and promised updates that never arrived. Our conveyancer was Kieran Williams and he shown unprofessional behavior in multiple instances.

Most seriously, the final financial statement arrived less than one working day before completion and showed several large unexpected charges and a much higher legal fee than quoted. The firm later acknowledged some quoting errors but only offered partial reductions; their “final response” failed to address the main service failures or compensate for the stress and financial strain caused.

I have escalated the matter to the Legal Ombudsman and would not recommend this firm to anyone who expects clear, timely communication and accurate cost estimates.

They Registered the wrong plans with the land registry, I found out 2 years later when remortgaging that we didn’t own the property and didn’t know if we would loose our home.

The customer service was appalling, I spoke to a Stacey Ashe who refused to admit what they had done or even tell me what the issue was, they said the wouldn’t fix it because it was a conflict of interest and I would need to get another solicitor, I didn’t know what was going on we were mid build on a grade II listed building we had to down tools, the financial and mental fall out from their error has been detrimental to us and I can only just start speaking about this now.

I couldn’t get another solicitor to help me all they were saying is why aren’t Birchall Blackburn fixing their error, we can’t help they need to fix it.

Over one month later Birchall Blackburn finally admitted they made a mistake but would still not fix the error, it took overt two years for us to find the right solicitor to fix this mistake. It was fairly simple in the end and could have been resolved quickly by Birchall Blackburn in the first place and we would have saved a lot of money and stress that I will never get over.

It says a lot about a company that can make a huge mistake like registering the wrong property then refuse to fix their mistake.
