Basingstoke Sports Centre
Two problems at the Basingstoke Sports Centre. Firstly it has dramatically cut back its cardiac rehab offering since it took over around 6 years ago. Secondly it automatically renews memberships at an increased price without giving any prior notice or any details about how long that increased price is fixed for.

Quality gym!
I’ve had 4 different gyms in the last few years, but the Sports Centre in Basingstoke is my favourite by far. It’s very clean, there are so many machines, that literally cover everything, as well as lots of free weights. I’m really enjoying it here. The price is very reasonable, considering there is also a pool and sauna and steam room. Very happy.

Poor communication
We missed our son’s swimming lesson today at the Basingstoke centre because I was given the wrong time by customer service. I had called ahead specifically to check, as we’d been away on holiday and hadn’t seen any signage. I was told it was the usual time.
When we arrived, we saw a notice saying the lesson had actually been moved two hours earlier. The receptionist then told me that calling customer service was “the wrong thing to do” — incredibly frustrating considering I did everything I could to check in advance.
We received no email, no information through the app, and no attempt was made to contact us about the change. The lack of communication and conflicting information left us with one very disappointed child and a wasted journey.
Update based on response - if the central customer service team are not best placed to answer my enquiry they should inform me of that instead of giving me incorrect information. This is not putting customer experience first

We are disappointed to hear of your recent experience.
We apologise if you received any conflicting information. If the centre moves a class for a bank holiday, an email should be sent by the centre, informing customers of the change as on the central system we will not see one-off changes for holidays.

The equipment in the Move Room is excellent. The person setting my routine has been spot on so far. My induction was great, my registration was thorough.

Steadily declining quality
3-4 years ago, in basingstoke, this was called Basingstoke Sports Centre. It was under different management, the quality of the centre was excellent, the equipment was well maintained, the staff was friendly and helpful. After Better bought the sports centre you could plainly see the decline in quality, the atmosphere changed to a darker side, gym machines take months to get fixed, and on top of that they kept creepily increasing the membership price and removing options like gym-only memberships.
I used to pay £30/month for a gym-only membership, that was removed as soon as Better came. I was forced to pay £40/month, bare in mind I don't have time to explore other services like swimming and such. And every 6-8 months, they increase 2-1 pounds. A few weeks ago I received an email that the membership is now £45/month. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable, that is too much money for an apparently declining sports centre.
They make it so easy for you to sign up and they are happy to take your money every month, but you cannot pause your membership for any reason other than medical with a doctor's note, and if you want to cancel your membership you have to give 20 days notice.. which will obviously creep into another month's payment cycle.
Genuine recommendation, do not join Better, find another option or "better" yet learn to do Calisthenics in your local park.

It is average gym
It is average gym, overpriced compare the other better competitors. Only advantage is location. None of the gym equipment were changed or improved whatsoever. Some equipments are old and resistance on some equipments are different. Needs maintenance.
