Not ideal for a new keeper
Customer service was great, ordered 2 queen's, 1 buckfast and 1 carpathian, the buck fast had to wait a few days till colony was unable to produce their own queen carpathian was left 24 hrs then tabs popped, when I went to pop the tab the cage had split (not clipped together properly) looked to find the queen and couldn't find her, went back few days later to make sure she wasn't there to requeen and found eggs, searched every frame and found an unmarked queen i knew this was her as she was dark and mated, I caged her grabbed my blue pen and marked her leaving her a few seconds to dry, lifted the cage off her and she took flight I lost visual on her at 5 meters flying south, so now have a queen less hive again I will check Friday if she is back but with 10 new queen's this season i have never had to remark any new queen, and never had others so flighty

I can confirm that all our queens are marked, admittadly the blue this year is quite dark and not so easy to see.

I bought a beautiful Carniolan Queen for my cranky queen less hive and she has now integrated with the hive and laying. She really is stunning!

Poor quality queens
I bought 3 queens in August 2024 when my large hive became qeenless. I made up 3 Nucs, 2 linguistic and 1 buckfast. The Buckfast developed CBPV in February was removed to an isolation apiary, but ultimately destroyed as wasn't recovering. The ligustica queens have average temperaments and have been exceptionally swarmy...far more than my own queens and far removed from the Buckfast queens from my usual supplier; who at the time had ran out. Never again waste of money and time. Disappointing!

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Sorry to hear that you have not had good start to the season. Unfortunatly CBPV is now seen across most of the UK. Queens that are bred from stocks that have not been exposed to it will produce bees that will also not have been exposed to it and these colonies do struggle more to deal with the virus.
All bees will swarm as this is natural reproduction for them. This year has seen a much higher rate of swarming due the early spring and earlier colony growth.
Superb service from a great company

First time buying a Queen Bee
First time buying a Queen Bee and was a bit worried about the whole posting it to me. I didn't need to worry. I was rang the day before the Bee was to be posted to confirm everything. The Bee arrived the next day by 10am well packaged and looked well. Left her to the queenless hive and checked two days later and she was out and about. 7 days later I checked again and there was Brood of all stages so very happy. Also she was a stunning looking pale queen and so easy to spot. Would buy from again without hesitation. 10/10

Thank you for the review. Your order has not actually been sent out to you yet. We did contact you to explain that we didn't have the race you ordered, due to poor queen matings, and I did asked if it was ok with you to carry the order over to this week.
I am sorry that I didn't have the race you ordered, poor weather can affect queens matings. I did try to call you and I did email you, to keep you updated, so I am sorry that you feel the service is so poor.
Your order is due to be posted out later this week, as per the email update I sent out yesterday. I will also email to confirm when posted.

Thank you for the review. It always so difficult when weather affects matings. When dealing with livestock all sorts of things can happen. Fortunatley we have lovely customers, a lot of them who have had honeybees for many years and therefore understand things like this happen. I hope you have a bumper harvest. Enjoy the bees.
