Some of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) syringes are near impossible to use and are seriously defective.

This is a serious Quality Control Issue.
The BD 1mL TB Syring (SlipTip with BD PrecisionGlide Needle) has a needle cap that is impossible to remove without extraordinary effort. I had to use pliers to detach the cap from the needle. Now this is especially horrible because many of the users have rheumatism which often means poor grip. In addition many of the people are quite old and lack the hand strength of younger individuals.
In my case, my rheumatism is fully under control, with my weekly injection of meds, and my hand grip is excellent.

Furthermore not everyone has pliers in their home.
Not only is the cap too tight to remove by hand, but when you are filling the syringe, air is drawn into the syringe because the needle fit to the syringe is faulty. In addition, these needles are also far less sharp than they should be. Often, though not always, the needle simply dimple the skin during the attempted injection at the injection site. Other times, the needles penetrate the skin without hesitation. This is a sharpness Quality Control Issue!

These syringe needles are substandard, faulty and should not be tolerated by any user.
I had complained to BD about this years ago, never received the courtesy of a reply and obviously they have never checked to improve their Quality Control. Apparently they do not care.
I have just recently (3 weeks ago) filed a complaint with the FDA, but have not heard anything back from them. I guess they are very busy. Still Medicare ends up paying a large proportion of the bills that include the cost of syringes.
My doctors along with a good pharmacy have found a substitute for the most common BD syringes which is another, more expensive syringe from BD. This one is called a SafetyGlide 1ml syringe. It has a distinct look with gray needle cap that has a clip (like a pen that you clip to a pocket). These syringe caps are easy to remove by hand and and the needles are almost always very sharp so the needle penetrates the skin easily.

So, BD knows how to make an easy to use, sharp syringe needle combo, but the Quality Control on their other syringes (I tried at least 3 other ones) are seriously DEFECTIVE.

What does it take to get a manufacturer to stop making and selling defective products? One that is crucial to people's health?

It is now Oct 2, 2024 and someone from BD got in touch with me after a couple of weeks of this report. They asked to tell them the exact product id numbers, and then subsequently asked me mail them some of the syringes. They sent me a prepaid mail label (so generous of them). No offer to pay for the whole pack of defective syringes, but never mind that. So that has been many months since they have received the defective items.

Since then not a word. I left a phone message them on one of the support phone number they listed on their web page. No response.

I'm now going to get in touch with Consumer Reports, maybe they can elevate this matter so the public will be better informed.

Als ich die SEXUELLE BELÄSTIGUNG der Ethikkomission und der Polizei meldete, wurde ich in Folge dessen von BD/BDI bis zu meinem freiwilligen Austritt beispiellos unmenschlich, unethisch und zynisch sekundär viktimisiert, welches u.a. auch eine zeitweise einseitige völlige Einstellung der Kommunikation seitens der Führung mir gegenüber beinhaltete (offenes Mobbing) daher kann ich das Verhalten des Unternehmens beim besten Willen nicht als professionell und in höchsten Maßen seriös bezeichnen.
Ich wurde mit inhalts- und sinnlosen sowie lächerlichen Abmahnungen bombardiert! Auf ein Schreiben meines Anwalts, mit dem dieser der Führung in sachlicher Form die Rechtslage bzgl. des zu meinem Nachteil begangenen Delikts zu verdeutlichen versuchte, wurde z.B. bis heute gar nicht reagiert. Auch dies spricht für sich.

Die meisten Kollegen im Team scheinen dem AG nicht nur nach Außen aus Angst um den Job loyal geblieben, bzw. instruiert worden zu sein, was meiner Meinung nach alles über den Mindset dieser Firma sagt („der Fisch stinkt vom Kopf“) aber auch über den Charakter der MA, die für sie arbeiten. Dennoch gibt/gab es Menschen, die bis heute diese abscheuliche Tat moralisch und ethisch verurteilen und früher oder später ihre Konsequenzen ziehen werden. Ich bin und werde ihnen immer sehr dankbar sein. Ich wurde von einem direkten Teamkollegen SEXUELL BELÄSTIGT, die direkte Führung hat diesen widerlichen Übergriff gesehen, Ärzte auch, und trotzdem hat die Führung später für den Täter gelogen. Ausserdem hat diese Führung fast eine ganze Woche (6 Tage) gebraucht um den Vorfall intern zu melden, was den Verdacht hegt gegen mich eine Strategie des Leugnens entwickeln zu wollen.

Das Vorhandensein der gelebten sozialen Werten wie Ethik und Moral, sowie Empathie und emotionale Intelligenz aber auch das Bekenntnis zu Recht habe ich in meinem Fall bei BD/BDI vermisst. Ich wurde in dieser Firma während eines großen internationalen Ärztekongress in aller Öffentlichkeit und in Anwesenheit einiger hochrangiger Referenten aber auch anderen Kollegen inklusive Vorgesetzter SEXUEL BELÄSTIGT UND GEDEMÜTIGT, vor Dutzenden Zivilisten und Kunden. Wie die Firma (Geschäftsführung, HR, Ethikkomission, Betriebsrat BD, Rechtsabteilung) später mit meinem Fall umgegangen ist, ist unbeschreiblich wird in Fachkreisen als SEKUNDÄRE VIKTIMISIERUNG beschrieben! Die Entscheidung der Staatsanwaltschaft Verden bei Bremen (weil Tat im Ausland bagangen wurde, war der Wohnort des Täters für die strafrechtliche Verfolgung ausschlaggebend), nach positiver Schuldfeststellung lediglich aus ökonomischen Gründen (Tat auf einem Schiff im Ausland) von der weiteren Strafverfolgung des Täters nach §153 StPO abzusehen, hat die BD gänzlich ignoriert. Es wurde der Eindruck erweckt, als sei das Verfahren gegen den Täter wegen fehlender Schuld eingestellt worden und plötzlich sah ich mich als eigentliche Geschädigte mit haltlosen Vorwürfen seitens der BD konfrontiert.

Dies stellt ALLE WERTE DENEN SICH BD ALS EIN WELTWEITFÜHRENDES UNTERNEHMEN VERPFLICHTET AUSNAHMSLOS IN FRAGE.
