Definitely worth it!
When I started a was a little overwhelmed by how much we had to learn, but how ebs structured the days and the way they teach us makes it so much better and easier. Everyone is very enthusiastic and nice to each other.The fun activities after school ours are amazing it's helps to keep the spirit up!
One thing that ebs could do better is inform us about the extra cost for the activities because for me as a backpacker it's alot of extra money. You don't have to do these activities but it's makes it so much more fun.
Still I would definitely recommend this course!

I recommend this school for every bartender out there and everyone who wants to start bartending they got really good teachers and really good technique of teaching to be honest I didn’t expect this school to be that good but they really know what they doing and I made a lot of friends and had an amazing month with a lot of fun in it

Der Kurs August am neuen Standort…
Der Kurs August am neuen Standort Lissabon begann mit einer Umbuchung der Teilnehmer in ein anderes Hostel, welche qualitativ definiert deutlich schlechter war.Die Teilnehmer wurden darüber im Vorfeld nicht informiert.
Die Location verfügt über keine Air Condition, niedrige Räume, wodurch eine unangenehm hohe Raumtemperatur (Sommer) herrscht. Ab einer Körpergröße über 1,80 ist es dazu gefährlich, da die Querträger der Decke nicht markiert sind und man aufpassen muss, um sich keine Kopfverletzungen zuzuziehen.
In der Location wird keine Mülltrennung durchgeführt, unverantwortlich in der heutigen Zeit.
Die Kursleiterin (29) hat definitiv noch wenig Erfahrung in Classroom Teaching.
Der Kurs sollte in Englisch sein- Ihre Aussprache führt aber zu Verständnisproblemen. Sie wies die Teilnehmer darauf hin, dass alle pünktlich zu erscheinen hätten- nach 830- aber um 845-850, da der Unterricht um 9 beginnen sollte. Sie erschien aber selbst erst um 857, bzw. 855 , so dass es eben nicht um 9 starten konnte- sehr unprofessionell.
Ich kann Ihre Qualifikation als Bartender nicht beurteilen- aber im Thema Flair ist Sie definitiv schlecht- Sie konnte bei Demonstration zB nicht den Shaker auf der Hand fangen- ebensowenig konnte Sie Tipps geben zB Rotation…
Die Kursleiterin wies darauf hin, dass Sie ein Vibometer einführt, welches in die Bewertung einfließt. Dabei geht es um Good Vibes , aber vor allem darum, Fotos und Videos zu machen und zu veröffentlichen. Sie forderte Kursteilnehmer auf, diese Fotos auf Instagram zu posten. Was hat das bitte mit Bartending zu tun? Oder sollen die Teilnehmer nur Werbung übernehmen?
Abgesehen davon möchte ich gefragt werden, ob ich das möchte!
Im ersten Test wurde ein Rusty Nail abgefragt- im EBS Video vorab mixt der Barkeeper 4mls 2mls- laut Buch ist es dann 3mls 3mls. Die Kursleiterin wertete es als Fehler und nahm Ihre Entscheidung nicht zurück.
All diese Probleme waren für mich ausschlaggebend, den Kurs abzubrechen.
Ich erwarte Professionalität, eine annehmbare Location und ein top geschultes Personal- all das liegt hier nicht vor.

vielen Dank für Ihr wertvolles Feedback, das wir sehr ernst nehmen. Nur durch Rückmeldungen unserer Teilnehmer können wir als Unternehmen kontinuierlich besser werden.
Es ist korrekt, dass aufgrund organisatorischer Gründe eine Änderung der Unterkunft vorgenommen wurde. Die Teilnehmer wurden diesbezüglich jedoch rechtzeitig informiert. Da die neue Unterkunft nicht über alle Einrichtungen der ursprünglichen verfügte und die Teilnehmer bereits mit bestimmten Annehmlichkeiten gerechnet hatten, haben wir eine Entschädigung für die entstandenen Unannehmlichkeiten geleistet. Allerdings haben wir festgestellt, dass Sie keine Unterkunft über uns gebucht hatten und somit von dieser Änderung nicht betroffen waren.
Unsere Schule in Lissabon ist unser neuester Standort, und wir arbeiten noch daran, die Räumlichkeiten zu verbessern. Ihr Feedback zur Klimaanlage und den hohen Raumtemperaturen sowie zur Mülltrennung werde ich umgehend an die Schule weiterleiten, damit entsprechende Maßnahmen ergriffen werden.
Ebenso werde ich Ihr Feedback bezüglich des verspäteten Kursbeginns weiterleiten. Es ist essenziell, dass sowohl die Ausbilder als auch die Kursteilnehmer pünktlich anwesend sind, damit der Unterricht um 09:00 Uhr beginnen kann.
Was den „Vibometer“ betrifft, handelt es sich dabei um eine Art Wettbewerb, der darauf abzielt, unsere Teilnehmer zur Teamarbeit zu motivieren, den Gruppenzusammenhalt zu stärken und das Kennenlernen zu erleichtern. Wir möchten damit auch den Spaßfaktor erhöhen und eine positive Atmosphäre schaffen. Ziel ist es, „Good Vibes“ zu verbreiten.
Die erste Aufgabe besteht darin, dass die Schüler einen Teamnamen auswählen und ein kreatives Foto machen. Dabei bitten wir sie, uns auf Instagram zu markieren, wenn sie das Foto teilen. In der Regel bereitet den Teilnehmern diese Aktivität Freude und ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Erlebnisses. Selbstverständlich ist dies freiwillig, und Bilder werden nur mit der ausdrücklichen Zustimmung der Schüler veröffentlicht. Dies sollte auch entsprechend von der Schule kommuniziert werden. Wir werden diesbezüglich mit unseren Schulen sprechen und sicherstellen, dass alle Teilnehmer ausreichend informiert sind, um jeglichen Druck zu vermeiden. Dies ist keineswegs unsere Absicht.
Das Rusty Nail-Rezept in unserem Vorbereitungspaket wurde kürzlich aktualisiert und entspricht nun der Rezeptur aus dem Buch. Es scheint jedoch, dass die englische Version nicht zeitgleich aktualisiert wurde und noch das alte Rezept enthielt. Wir werden dies umgehend korrigieren. Das deutsche Vorbereitungspaket wurde bereits angepasst und enthält die korrekten Angaben.

Great course so far! I haven't followed it to completion but now I'm at the point of revision and I have plenty of thoughts about the course so far. Especially on the contents that are involved
Theory and Cocktail Making / Preparation:
This is by far the most important and heavily headed part of the course, which I am happy to agree with. These facts are perfect for understanding and creating classics and new favourites. While personally I believe some of these are outdated and should stay in the past (Blood and Sand), there's also some I love. As for the theory I think everyone should know the history about where their favourites spirits and liqueurs come from. It also helps with knowing the methodology and components of the drinks.
Flair:
While personally I don't see any practical use for flair I still think it's a great skill to practice if there's certain careers or competitions you'd like to compete in. I do see why we learn it, it has it's uses and merits within bartending.
Free-Pour:
This is pointless, it's not even legal in Australia. I understand how essential and convenient this may be for European students, especially those studying within this course and for Australians who would wish to work abroad. But I must say, flexibility in a course should be given for this area, I understand it's a lot to ask for but at the end of the day jobs in Australia will not care about this and it has no validity for job proficiency
Extra-Curricular activities:
I love all the interactions with local distilleries, events and members of the community both general Sydney and Liquor brands that we have been able to interact with, makes it easier to really see the bigger picture.
Our instructor Sarah does a great job at teaching the complex EBS curriculum in a way that is memorable and actually sticks. While our event coordinator Jamie is always excellent for going out of her way to ensure the students have an excellent time around Sydney.

I was in the course in Phuket, Thailand from May to June and unfortunately wasnt very satisfied.
The school charges for accomodation but does not show pictures on purpose because otherwise most people wouldnt book it. I had paid additionally for "premium" accomodation (2 people instead of 8) and was very dissapointed upon arrival what premium actually meant for them. I have seen their private rooms which were not an option to book online unfortunately and those rooms are much nicer.
My room had very hard beds just inches apart and no safe to store valuables. Even though there are balconies, students arent allowed to smoke there, apparently because people threw cigarettes off and the building caught fire in the past. Which could just be prevented by providing ashtrays.
Anyway, I informed the manager that I wasnt satisfied with the accomodation and tried to reason with him, asking to be refunded the cost of the accomodation so I could instead move to one of the nearby hotels. He just told me I was free to move, their rooms are fine, he doesnt believe the beds are uncomfortable, I should have asked for room pictures and private accomodation beforehand and if I wasnt happy, thats more or less my problem but no money back.
The whole building, rooms, hallways and classrooms are riddled with mosquitos because the lights are on constantly and all windows are open. Almost everyone was riddles with bites because even mosquito reppelant doesnt work if you are sweating it off. Which brings me to the next point.
The course costs 2000$ per person plus 200-500$ in accomodation plus 250$ in food with 50-60 students each month which results in a minimum of 120'000$ per month or 1'440'000$ per year generated from this single school (not even talking about all the extra costs for excursions, the bar, the restaurant and other things they constantly try to sell you quite obnoxiously - literally they had like 4 sales presentations everyone needs to attend, one on the first day already). So how is it possible none of this money goes to upgrades to the facility? Instead of repairing or buying three AC Units in the bar training rooms, the school opted to just install fans which do not help. Everyone is drenched in sweat each day by the end of classes. Only the theory and flair rooms do have AC. And AC units arent that expensive.
Now about the course itself. I love making cocktails and I was excited about the course and learning to be a real bartender. I had learned for years on my own by watching youtube and such and always go to the best bars to try their creations plus I already had a formal education about all kinds of alcohol and how they are produced.
Positives first:
The staff is great. I loved all the instructors, event staff, housekeeping, bar and kitchen staff and my critizisms has nothing to do with them.
The other people you meet in the course is what made me stay and what made the time fun. Most of the other students were genuinly nice and enjoyable to spent time with, study with and party with.
The theory part of the school, called masterclasses are definitely good for people who do not have a formal training in this field even though learning names and dates or brands for tests doesnt seem to make too much sense as that hasnt really anything to do with what a barkeeper does. Knowing how alcohol is produced, what its made from and what varieties there are however does.
The daily tests are challenging but they do help to learn your recipies and the knowledge you need for the final tests quite effectively. However again, this comes with a big caviat as the school is really annoying about the slightest little thing. Even everyone knows its gonna be meassured in ml, its wrong if its not written or its wrong if you dont write "fresh" or the brand names of their sponsors (thats the most annoying one). So you can have everything in the recipes correct but because of such stupid correction methods get none correct in your tests.
In my opinion there was only 2.5 hours worth of useful training per day out of 4-5 hours.
Bar training, which is what I came for, unfortunately only consisted of one hour per day.. One other useful hour was the above mentioned theory and then there was the bar showcase at the end of the day which usually took 30-45 minutes but which wasnt too useful overal as you would rarely actually get to work with the real alcohol due to the size of the groups.
The rest of the day was filled with stuff thats isnt actually important to be a barkeeper. At least not in any bar I would frequent or want to work at. These two classes which I hated with a passion like many of my classmates were "freepour" (meassuring by counting -something you only see at terrible bars with bad drinks) and "flair" (doing fancy tricks).
I dropped out of the course end of week 3 because it did not meet my needs.

We offer the course and the accommodation, which is shared with other people, as a package. In Phuket, there is an option to upgrade to a double room. We also have some single rooms available but this option is only upon request, as stated on our website. Unfortunately, since your course was booked online and we did not have prior contact with you, we could not provide detailed information about our facilities, such as room options, upgrades or pictures.
Our refund policy, which can be found in our Terms & Conditions, states that no refund will be issued once the course has commenced.
Although the school manager attempted to offer you a free upgrade to a private room, all such rooms were fully booked at the time, making this option unavailable. Additionally, we offered to change your bed due to the issues you encountered, but you declined. We did our utmost to assist you in this matter.
Typically, every room is equipped with a safe locker for our students. It is therefore surprising to hear that your room did not have one.
All our school and accommodation facilities are smoke-free to maintain a pleasant environment for all students and instructors, as some may be uncomfortable with exposure to smoke. Thank you for understanding and adhering to this rule.
We will rely your feedback regarding the heat and the need for facility upgrades. We appreciate your input.
Thank you also for your comments on the course itself. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the staff and your classmates. One of the highlights of the EBS experience is the opportunity to meet people from diverse countries and cultures.
Every component of the course is designed to develop a professional bartender. We believe that free pour is a very important skill to obtain, even if it is not always used. The flair part of the course, though minimal, aims to teach students some dynamic moves to enhance customer entertainment.
The course is designed to provide a solid foundation for students, whether they pursue work in a dive bar, a flair bar, or a premium cocktail bar.

Cancellation and no refund (2 months later)
My course was cancelled one week prior. I was supposed to receive a full refund up to 30 days after cancellation. It's now almost 2 months, and after multiple calls no one is able to update. Often I don't even receive response to e-mails, I have been sending reminders every week.

We would like to apologise for the cancellation of your course and the refund process. We would also like to thank you for your patience.
Regarding cancellations, as mentioned in our Terms and Conditions: even though we do our best to avoid them, when unforeseen circumstances arise, we reserve the right to cancel your course. In these cases, we offer to refund our students or replacement course.
As you decided to get a refund, we started the refund process. Our Terms and Conditions state that the reimbursement can take between 30 and 60 days to be processed. The average refund time is about 30 days but it can happen that some extra time is needed.
We always do our best to make sure that refunds are issued as soon as possible but unfortunately, it also depends on our bank's internal process. Despite our numerous attempts and daily reminders, we could not speed up the refund and we did our best to keep you updated.
We answered all the emails we received from you and after the first 30 days, we sent you weekly updates by email or by phone to make sure you were informed about it. Your refund was issued in less than 60 days.
We contacted you last month, when your refund was issued on our side, to make sure you had received it but we have not heard from you since then. As mentioned in our last email, we would also like to offer you access to our online courses as a compensation to the situation you encountered.
Once again, we would like to deeply apologise for the time needed for your refund to be processed and we will make sure this never happens again.

La fine è solo l’inizio
Sono arrivata consapevole che ne sarei uscita diversa, e così è stato! Grazie anche agli insegnanti molto competenti! Ma non mi sarei mai aspettata di lasciare un pezzo del mio cuore questo mese di Gennaio 2024, qui alla scuola di Milano! ☺️ Bellissima esperienza: stress, ansia, e tante emozioni che poi sono sfociate in un pianto liberatorio, di felicità, quando ho preso l’attestato! 😍 Ripeterei l’esperienza di nuovo, se potessi!!! Credete nei sogni, a volte possono avverarsi! 🙃

Ciao Tania, grazie mille per le tue belle parole! Siamo molto felici di sapere che hai vissuto un'esperienza positiva con EBS. Le emozioni che descrivi sono abbastanza comuni tra i nostri studenti 🙂 L'esame finale è veramente un momento ricco di soddisfazione e di celebrazione per il duro lavoro fatto durante le quattro settimane.
Siamo sicuri che questo è solo il primo di tanti successi.
Speriamo di darti la benvenuta nuovamente in futuro!

Si vous cherchez des cours de Barista, passez votre chemin.
J'ai suivi les cours de Barista à la Bartender School de Barcelone au mois d'octobre. Et j'ai le sentiment de m'être complètement fait arnaquée. La formation ne comporte absolument pas ce qui est mentionné sur leur site... N'espérez pas recevoir ce qu'ils vous promettent. Le diplôme qui vous sera remis n'a aucune valeur. Le seul support écrit du cours est bourré de fautes, coquilles, répétitions. Leur test ressemble à une mauvaise blague. De la mauvaise foi couplée à de l'amateurisme, le tout pour un prix exorbitant.
L'unique professeur était exécrable et franchement insultant par moment. Toute la classe s'est plaint mais le Manager et le directeur de l'école se refusent à prendre leurs responsabilités.
Plus de mille euros et une semaine de logement à Barcelone pour une expérience plus que décevante. Je ne l'ai pas encore digéré... Il y a mille façons de mettre un pied dans le monde du café... les cours de barista de la BTS n'en sont pas une.
EDIT : Effectivement, l'école m'a proposé un bon de 300 euros pour participer à une autre formation, sans jamais avoir admis avoir fait de la publicité mensongère. Complètement dystopique... Je me plains de ne pas avoir reçu la formation pour laquelle j'ai déboursé 1000 euros et une semaine de logement à Barcelone.. Ils me proposent de RE dépenser de l'argent auprès de leurs services... Incroyable.

Nous sommes désolés de savoir que cette formation n'a pas répondu à vos attentes. Il est primordial pour nous de connaître l'avis de nos étudiants à l'issue de leur expérience avec EBS. Cela nous permet d'améliorer nos formations, nos écoles et les services proposés.
Suite à l'examen de votre réclamation auprès des différents départements concernés, nous avons cherché à vous contacter mais nous n'avons pas reçu de retour de votre part (mail envoyé le 9 novembre 2023).
Nous vous avons offert un bon d'achat de 300€ valable pour suivre la formation EBS de votre choix.
Nous sommes persuadés que ce cours suivi à Barcelone n'est pas représentatif de l'expérience EBS, nous souhaitons donc que vous ayez l'occasion de suivre une nouvelle formation dans l'école de votre choix.

Der gebuchte Kurs im Oktober wurde kurzfristig von Seiten EBS School storniert wegen fehlender Lehrkräfte und es gab keinen Ersatztermin. Der Geldrückerstattungsprozess läuft jetzt schon ein paar Wochen und es wird immer wieder verzögert mit viel Adminhürden. Zudem wird angekündigt dass 10% Gebühren von der Bank erhoben und von der Kursgebühr abgezogen werden - eine absolute Frechheit wo doch die Kursabsage von der EBS School erfolgte. Schon die Überweisung der Kursgebühr am Anfang war extrem kompliziert, da die Bank in Gibraltar sitzt obwohl das Kursangebot in Berlin gebucht wurde. Nie wieder!!

Wir verstehen Ihren Ärger über die Bankgebühren. Bitte beachten Sie aber, dass diese Gebühr nicht 10% des Kurses entspricht. Es handelt sich, um einen festen Betrag, welcher zufälligerweise 10% Ihres Kurses entspricht. Wir werden diese Angelegenheit intern überprüfen und sicherstellen, dass so etwas in Zukunft nicht wieder vorkommt.
Wir bedauern, dass die Überweisung zu Unannehmlichkeiten geführt hat. Wir nehmen Ihr Feedback sehr ernst und werden unsere Prozesse verbessern, um sicherzustellen, dass solche Probleme nicht wieder auftreten.
Wir verstehen, dass dies eine frustrierende Erfahrung für Sie war, und es tut uns leid, dass wir Ihre Erwartungen nicht erfüllen konnten. Wir schätzen Ihr ehrliches Feedback und nutzen es, um unsere Dienstleistungen zu verbessern.

To be honest
To be honest. The best month I had in the whole year was of EBS. I mean it’s hard to point out something that was not pre planned. Everyone was so warm hearted,cheerful. If I have to wish to go back and enjoy those EBS days trust me no one will be as lucky as me. EBS❣️
