I bought a property through Barney Estates outside of auction and worked with Lydia Loveridge from start to finish. Lydia was responsive, professional, and transparent throughout. She explained the process clearly, kept me updated at every step, and coordinated promptly with solicitors so timelines didn’t slip. What could’ve been stressful felt straightforward thanks to her calm approach and attention to detail. I’d happily buy through Lydia again and recommend her to anyone looking for a smooth transaction.

​I had an extremely negative experience with Barney Estates Ltd. We initially agreed to purchase a plot of land in Shawell for £15,000, plus a £3,000 fee. They had us sign documents and pay a £24,000 deposit for two plots, but they never explained that this deposit would be non-refundable after signing.
​The very next day, we discovered that contracts had already been exchanged. We were then informed that we owed an additional £33,000 - £7,500 fee for each plot and an additional £1,950 seller's fee per plot.
​When we asked our solicitor to review the paperwork, they uncovered a hidden clause that we would have to pay the seller a massive 35% of any increase in the land's value for the next 80 years. This was never disclosed to us and was buried in the fine print.
​The entire process felt misleading and unprofessional. I would not recommend doing business with this company.

The agent (Tamara) fully informed us of all we needed to know during a very rapid turnaround in order to exchange on the deal. Her senior colleague then ably assisted us in moving through numerous complexities to completion.

These charlatans are advertising land that they do not have title to, and is not for sale. They are selling a road into a development in Alrewas that is adopted by the council. BEWARE !!!

Had a really positive experience as first time land buyers. Patrick Quigley from Barney's estates and auctioneers really made us feel comfortable with the process and was really accommodating with all our questions and enquiries. He took his time to really make sure we were happy with everything before signing contracts and would definitely request his services in the future.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PROPERTY MAFIAS. I have been sold land for double the hammer price and the land size advertised incorrect too. When I registered with the land registry half the land was missing. I was given coordinates for the actual size I paid for but behind the scene the auctioneer, the solicitor working on behalf of the seller and the seller have all provided misleading information. HM land registry goes by what the solicitors have agreed. I am taking the legal route with these rogue traders.

I've been investing in small pieces of land since 1996 and can confidently say Barney's have been the most straightforward of the estate agents and auctioneers I've had dealings with. They are straight talkers and were very upfront about the land I was interested in bidding on and fees, contract issues etc.

Barney Estates especially the Director is a big joke. She appointed an assistant to investigate my complaint. Ha ha ha. If the assistant is so qualified why not make her a Director as well? Don't you have someone at a Managerial or Director level to investigate my complaint? You may have a complaints procedure but not a capable person to investigate it. Hence, the Director is a BIG nuisance. Very very rude and impolite. I would say she is a childish Director. Shame on you.

I purchased a plot of land for a new business project, and the team were fantastic!

I even had my first deposit refunded because i wasn’t sure about what i was purchasing, but i came back 3 weeks later and asked lots of questions, the team were very patient and they made me feel at ease!

I am really happy with my new purchase! I hope to work with you guys again in the future!

Stay away from this doggy so called estate agent and auctioneer. Sold us a £150k parcel of land in a village in £325k and their rip off so called huge fee on top where we ended up in £380k till completion. They use in house doggy solicitor also for so called completions and will trap you in such a way where you end up losing your heavy deposit. Doing fraud in this country openly and sold our same piece of land to someone else also at the same time. This is pure example of fraud. Agricultural land price in this country is £8000 to £15000 per acre but these cheaters and fraudsters will sell you for £30k to £50k an acre. Ripping off innocent public. Got very bad reputation so pay £300 to £500 and get a survey before you buy anything in this country. An agent who will lie, misguide and mis-sell. No ethics and no morals. A chartered surveyor told us valuation of our land which made us upset and bad feeling about this doggy estate agent. So stay away from them and save your hard earned money.
