Sent the wrong item TWICE

Extremely disappointed with my experience ordering from Balkanish.

My original order was incorrect, and after reaching out, I was told the items were “made to order” and a replacement would be sent. Somehow, the replacement arrived wrong AGAIN. It was meant to be a Mother’s Day gift that never happened. It is honestly unbelievable that an order could be messed up twice with so little attention to detail.

What makes this even more frustrating is that the “made to order” explanation now feels completely false considering the replacement was also incorrect. It genuinely felt like there was no care put into fulfilling my order properly at all.

Thankfully, I was refunded before the replacement arrived, because this entire experience was absolutely unacceptable and incredibly frustrating from start to finish. I will never shop here again and would not recommend this company to anyone based on the lack of care and customer service I experienced.

Also, I find it very hard to trust the reviews displayed on their website considering there are only 28 reviews and somehow every single one is rated 5/5 stars. After my experience, that does not feel realistic or reliable whatsoever.

To clarify, when we say “made-to-order,” we mean that we don’t hold pre-made inventory. Each sweatshirt is produced after an order is placed, which helps us reduce waste and ship globally. That said, we hear your concern that this wasn’t clear enough at checkout, especially given the sizing issue.

We’re reviewing our sizing guidance and policy communication to make them more transparent and helpful so customers can feel more confident when ordering.

Would give it 0 stars if I could

Would give it 0 stars if I could! My husband bought me a sweatshirt as a gift IN MY USUAL SIZE. It didn't fit — because their sizing runs significantly shorter than standard women's sizing, which is not made clear at checkout. That's not user error. That's a misleading product!

What followed was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had.

My email was ignored for a WEEK. I had to message them on Facebook, was told they never got it, resent it, waited again, then messaged them AGAIN — only for them to admit it had been sitting in their spam the whole time. That alone tells you something about how they operate.

Then I was told no exchanges, no returns — because everything is "made to order." Except this sweatshirt is literally still for sale on their site. Anyone can buy it right now. There is nothing custom about it. That excuse exists for one reason: to keep your money.

They offered me a 15% discount code as compensation. For a product I can't wear and a policy they conveniently don't make obvious at checkout.

Small businesses deserve support — but not ones that hide behind "small business" to avoid basic consumer fairness. Shop elsewhere.

Missing your original email due to an overly aggressive spam filter was an oversight on our end, and we understand how much that added to an already frustrating experience.

We also wanted to clarify what we mean by “made-to-order,” as we understand that the wording can feel unclear. While the sweatshirt remains available for purchase on our website, we do not carry pre-made inventory. Each item is individually produced once an order is placed. This allows us to reduce excess waste, ship globally, and continue building Balkanish in a way that allows us to serve our community around the world.

We understand the frustration around sizing and know how disappointing it feels when something doesn’t fit the way it was expected to. We provide sizing information on each product page and are actively working to make our sizing guidance and product communication even clearer throughout the shopping experience so customers can feel more confident when ordering.

As a made-to-order business shipping globally, our policies are designed to remain consistent across all regions we serve. While this means we’re not currently able to offer returns and exchanges in the same way larger retailers can, it’s something we’re actively working toward improving as we continue to grow.

Most importantly, we’re grateful we had the opportunity to connect with you directly by email, personally review the full situation, and achieve a resolution together. Your feedback was taken seriously, and it led to important internal conversations around both communication and customer experience.

Really love their Balkan Baddies…

Really love their Balkan Baddies collection - I got stickers - they are just too cute. I hope they come up with more in the future ;) I got one of their tote bags as well - organic cotton material that’s worth the price. Will be using this for my groceries. Can’t wait to see what other collections they create.
