Really useful advise on the positives and negatives of different bike and kept within my budget. Made me much for confident in my purchase!

Fantastic experience buying a Brompton bike at Balfe's Streatham. Rebecca and Paul were extremely kind and helpful in getting the bike delivered and went the extra mile in tweaking it to my needs. Bike was perfectly set up and I had the opportunity to test and make sure all was in order. Truly recommended!

Fantastic service!

Came in with a loose brake on my very complex bike, fixed in 5 minutes and back on the road. Couldn't recommend them enough.

What made my experience great was that Paul gave me his expertise, signed me up, changed my tyre and impressed me with the range of what I was literally looking for too.

Alongside Rebecca who also, helped me with a few bits too like my saddle (unfortunately it would not stay up) which was my most recent stop-by.

In regards to the service, signing up allowed me to not have to bring in my bike in for the size of my inner tube. This saved me time, energy and let me get on my way too!

For my bike serviced

I was dealing with Paul at Balfes. He is a great guy and presented a great bike for my little girl 😊

I cycled to the Streatham branch specifically as they were an Ortleib stockist and I wanted to make sure I ordered exactly the right thru-axle to for my carbon bike to allow it to take an Ortleib rack that I ordered at the time. The workshop took out the existing axle, measured and ordered a new one. I got an email a couple of days later to say the goods were in, went back on my bike, left it there to be fixed, only to be called and told they had ordered the wrong size. The correct one was reordered, came in a few days later and I went down to have it fitted. All fine now but with unnecessary delay and one wasted journey, so a bit frustrated at lack of due care and attention.

My bicycle had too many problems to list here.
They quickly identified the problem that had been mysterious to me for some time. Within 24 hours they fixed everything and it's was reasonably priced for all the work they had to do. Everyone's very knowledgeable, approachable and helpful. Highly recommend

The bike is fixed and it needed a good service too so I'm happy about that but they had my bike for over a week and unless I contacted them, I didn't receive any updates as to why. It was because they were short-staffed but they didn't send any communication so customers were left in the dark.

Mix bag to be fair . Some times its grestings other times its like im a ghost. However the down stairs engineer is amazing at his craft and since him my bike works as it should now ill always take it there .

Booking the service was a good experience — the lady who booked me in was clear, helpful, and explained what to expect. I knew the bike would need a fair bit of work as it’s older and well used, and the quote (just under £400) seemed reasonable after I called to check which items were actually necessary.
When I collected the bike, I was told the rear derailleur was “a little bit sticky” and to keep an eye on it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be far worse than expected, with constant gear slipping — especially when riding out of the saddle.
The new gear cables were also fitted without a handlebar barrel adjusters, which made fine adjustment difficult. With the gears slipping, chain rub on the front derailleur, incorrect rear derailleur limit settings, and the remaining adjuster almost out of thread, I had no choice but to fix it myself. I didn’t take it back as I couldn’t be without my bike for another week (its my commuting bike) and didn’t want to risk being charged for adjustments.
The rest of the service was good, but gear shifting is a key part of any bike service, and it’s frustrating that this was missed. It’s a shame, as the location is convenient and I was considering bringing my other bike here in future.
