I am very disappointed with our experience with ANC Azores. Our whale watching tour was cancelled, and the communication from the company was very poor. We understand that weather conditions can affect tours, but the way the situation was handled was unprofessional and frustrating.

We received little explanation, and it was difficult to get clear information regarding rescheduling or refunds. We had planned this activity as an important part of our trip, and the last-minute cancellation caused a lot of inconvenience.

Customer service should be more organized, responsive, and respectful toward travelers who spend time and money booking these experiences. Unfortunately, this experience left us with a negative impression of the company, and I would not recommend booking whale watching tours with ANC Azores.

Excelente companhia de Aluguer de veículos. Carros novos, preços super competitivos. Caso não tenham cartão de crédito existem opções um pouco mais caras mas também mais seguras para alugar sem ter de apresentar cartão de crédito. Recomendo

Sur le bon de réservation il était indiqué qu'une personne de l'agence nous attendrait dans le hall d'arrivée à l'aéroport. Nous avons appelé et on nous a précisé d'aller au parking 5. Personnel au check in pas très sympathique. Voiture très propre et modèle de qualité. Pour le retour, tout s'est très bien passé, nous avions lavé la voiture entièrement. Vous pouvez faire le plein dans leur station. Dans l'ensemble je suis satisfait de cette agence.

Ils n'ont aucun honte d'arnaquer les gens. Comme beaucoup de commentaires, nous avions une carte de crédit, notée "crédit" mais cela ne leur convenait pas pour la caution. Ils rentrent le numéro de carte sur un site qui affirme que la carte est une carte de débit. Nous avons dû payer 200e de plus pour 4jours alors que la carte passait très bien chez d'autres loueurs d'autres îles. Technique très agressive car nous étions au pied du mur à 21h sans autre solution que de payer. Idem pour les personnes à côté de nous. Ils proposent des prix attractifs pour attirer les gens, puis demandent de payer beaucoup plus

Be very careful because a lot of information is not given in a clear way. For some stupid reason they will not accept debit card or cash for deposit and you will end up having to decide whether to cancel booking or pay much more (in our case more than double) for the possibility of using debit or cash? Also, if you book car to be picked up at airport, you will not get it there, instead you will need to wait for their van shuttle to be driven to their headquarters. The info on where to wait at airport is very vague, no signs, may take a long time, if you are in hurry you will have to pay taxi…
I felt scammed by them, but otherwise the car was OK

We were happy with ANC Azores rental car until returning the car. We returned the car at 7:15am and were charged 25 Euros for returning the car before they “open” at 8:00am! They were clearly open with full staff present and passengers going in and out of their office; no different than when we picked up the car few days earlier at 3:30pm! Also, note that the ANC rental car location is about a 10 minute shuttle ride from the airport. Make sure to account for that.

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with ANC Azores Holidays car rental. The problems started right at the airport: we couldn’t pick up the car there as promised. Instead, we were supposed to wait for a shuttle bus to take us to the company’s off-site location. We ended up waiting over an hour in the airport parking lot for the shuttle, along with other confused customers. This long wait seems to be a recurring issue, as several reviews mention slow and disorganized airport transfers.

The real trouble began at payment. They refused to accept either cash or credit card for the deposit, which meant we couldn’t pay and therefore couldn’t get the car. Their attitude was completely dismissive: we were told to leave if we didn’t like it. Then, suddenly, they “generously” offered us another option—if we paid eight times the original booking price, we could have a car after all. This was a clear scam, leaving us feeling helpless and taken advantage of.

The car itself was fine, but the whole ordeal ended up costing us a fortune and ruined our trip. Due to the company’s attitude, slow service, poor communication, and hidden fees, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this service to anyone. Many independent reviews confirm the same issues: slow airport transfers, lack of clear communication, and frequent unexpected charges or misleading pricing.

I would like to express my absolute disappointment with the catastrophic service provided by ANC, the representative of Abbycar, on the island of São Miguel (Ponta Delgada). I rented a vehicle from them and was confronted with an entirely unacceptable situation that wasted both my time and my nerves.

At the airport, I had to wait for an hour and a half, which was already a major inconvenience. During this time, I called the company five times to find a solution, and all of these calls are documented. Yet instead of receiving help, I was met with absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful staff. The person responsible on the phone claimed to have five years of experience, but in reality, they were completely incapable of coordinating the driver or even resolving the situation.

The driver himself was extremely rude and disrespectful, a behavior that should never be tolerated. Such employees should have been immediately dismissed as they failed to meet any standards of professionalism and customer service.

I am deeply disappointed with how ANC handled this incident.

El depósito no venía lleno, se lo comunique al responsable del lugar, me dijo que el marcador estaba estropeado. Saque fotos del mismo y al devolverlo y llenar el depósito el marcador funcionaba bien. Fui a reclamar y me dijeron que ellos no podían hacer nada y que las fotos que saque no eran una prueba, que ellos revisaban los coches personalmente y que pusiera una queja formal. Pedí hablar con el responsable y lógicamente me dijeron que no estaba que llegaría al día siguiente, sabedores que mi vuelo salía en 3 horas no pude hacer mucho mas. Me sentí estafado

All good, I have read bad reviews about them but we haven’t got any problem with them.
We got a cheap card and the give us a BMW.

ANC Azores Holidays scammed me. I paid €346.37 in advance in 2020 for renting a car - booking no. 27904. I later canceled the car rental and, in accordance with its terms and conditions, the company should have returned the full amount. Although the company promised me a refund, it never returned the money and eventually stopped communicating with me completely. I sent a complaint with many documents (bank statement, e-mail communication, etc.) to the European Consumer Centres (ECC). But even ECC couldn't force ANC Azores to return my money. I have been trying to get money for many years but ANC Azores either does not communicate at all or only promises…
Avoid this scam company if you don't want to lose money.

Mi amiga y yo teníamos el coche reservado en la plataforma VIPCars.com. Después de contratar un servicio por 8 días a 600€, una brutalidad. Nos comunican que si no pagamos con tarjeta de crédito, no débito, tenemos que pagar 200€ adicionales. 800€ por 8 días. La agencia NO está en el aeropuerto, por lo que no tuvimos más opción que pagarlo, ya que no había más opciones. Nos pareció TOTALMENTE UN ROBO. Además en los términos y condiciones de su página web comunican los métodos de pago entre los que incluyen tarjeta de débito. Además de no informar en ninguna parte de prácticamente la OBLIGATORIEDAD de pagar con tarjeta de crédito y de los recargos si no lo haces. Sigue en inglés:
A friend and I had the car booked on the VIPCars.com platform. After hiring a service for 8 days at 600€, a huge amount. They tell us that if we don't pay by credit card, not debit card, we have to pay an additional 200€. 800€ for 8 days. The agency is NOT at the airport, so we had no choice but to pay, as there were no other options. We found it TOTALLY A STEAL. Furthermore, in the terms and conditions on their website they state the methods of payment, including debit card. Besides not informing anywhere about the MANDATORY to pay by credit card and the surcharges if you don't do it.

I’ve rent a car for 3 days. I’ve made the maximum coverage level insurance with them (25€/day), and I paid an extra fee (25€) to bring the car back before 8 am, because the office was closed and they provide you the taxi service from the office to the airport.
After few hours they accused me to have damaged the car. After several requests to give us proof of the damage they sent me some ambiguous pictures, related to damages already present and damages on other cars (e.g. my car was black, the picture shows a grey car). When I told them that I didn’t do the damage and that I have the full cover insurance they told me that they will keep 90€ that I gave as deposit (that was only to cover damage on tires and glass that are not included in the “full” insurance ). Many other people found in the airport told me to have had the same experience with this company. It’s a FRAUD! AVOID THEM

I rented a camping car in Sao Miguel. Great experience. No issues. A very rare case of rental car company you can trust!

Aluguei um automóvel por 149 €. Deixei uma caução de 500 €. Demoraram 1h30 para entregar a viatura. Não deixaram que permanecesse com ela 24 horas, tal como estava previsto no contrato e foi solicitado, alegando que não estava disponível no dia seguinte, porém, na manhã seguinte, àquela hora, ainda estava disponível. Quando entreguei a viatura, pelas 23 h, o funcionário dirigiu-se, na escuridão, iluminado apenas pela lanterna do telemóvel, diretamente a um risco superficial e pequeno, dizendo que teria de pagar o conserto. Retiveram-me a caução de 500 € e disseram que a responsável não estava disponível. Gastei a manhã seguinte das curtas férias insistindo na resolução do problema. Ainda assim, ficaram-me com 200 € por um dano que não fiz. Não recomendo, de todo, esta companhia. Da próxima vez, se não houver carros disponíveis, prefiro alugar um táxi, mesmo que fique mais caro, a usar esta companhia. Foi uma péssima experiência.

I rented a car 2 times with ANC; with and without insurance. Always with a quick and free transfer to and from the airport.
And what a great contrast with other rent-a-cars! I have rented cars with other companies where agents are aggressive and will pressure you to buy insurance and add hidden costs to your bill. But not with ANC! The personal was always most kind, helpful and welcoming.

Contacted them one week prior to reserve date to communicate that due to COVID illness I would not be able to go to Azores. They still have not solved my refund and keep pushing voucher or reschedule, despite my constant replies saying I need the money I transferred back into my account. It's a shame and I would not recommend.
