Negative Experience with Vehicle Purchase and After-Sales Service at DAT AUTOHUS AG.
I purchased a vehicle from DAT AUTOHUS AG. Already the very next day after picking up the car, serious error messages appeared on the dashboard (engine malfunction / exhaust system issues) - this despite the fact that I had paid for an additional TÜV inspection/diagnostic check prior to purchase, which, to my understanding, did not reveal any issues at the time. A subsequent diagnosis confirmed defects in the EGR system and the particulate sensor.
Fortunately, a BMW partner handled a large part of the repair under a goodwill (Kulanz) arrangement, which in my view saved the dealership significant costs.
What I found disappointing was the way this case was handled afterwards. At the time of purchase, I understood that purchasing an additional paid “Silver Warranty” was required. However, when a problem occurred shortly after delivery, this warranty did not provide support in my particular situation.
DAT AUTOHUS AG declined to reimburse also the diagnosis costs, which, from my perspective, were necessary to identify and document the issue.
I also personally found the quoted maintenance and TÜV-related repair costs to be relatively high.
Overall, this experience left me with a negative impression. In my personal experience, the after-sales service felt uncooperative and not very customer-oriented.
I was dissatisfied with how the warranty-related aspects of the case were handled, as it did not help in my situation. I would also advise clarifying in advance how any issues identified before or shortly after purchase would be handled, as this may have a significant impact on the final price. Based on my experience, I would recommend future buyers carefully review all conditions and potential additional costs, as the total expense may differ from the initially listed price.
