I feel scammed
We got ours from the FSA shop that we pay into. I was always told 23 and me was for ancestry and I thought that's what we were getting. Waited a couple weeks and it's just a health thing that tells us nothing honestly, I have a doctor for health. All we really wanted was to know our background ancestry but got scammed $600 for 4 kits. Absolute BS.

Health reports extra £79 on top of £100 paid.

Incredible experience.

I sent my sample in and realized I entered a wrong email, so contacted customer service and it's been 4 days and they tell me they don't have my kit, I sent it back in there box they send you. The customer service is really bad, they send back the same email write your response above, after spending 100. For the kit I think their service is very bad, if this is bad can't imagine if the test results are real. Don't waste your money.

I love the updates (good and not so good ones) I can’t believe I have so many relatives! I contribute by staying current with the surveys and hope they truly help.

They sent me an email saying that I had a free health report that was only available for a limited time. When I signed in, there was not a free report. Only an upgrade for which you had to pay.

So I just wanna make people aware that the process and using this has been absolutely atrocious. It has been a nightmare. We began this process around February began to get help from the specialist team in March and still have not received any word back. We’ve been having to jump through hoop after hoop just to receive our samples. We have still yet to receive our samples. I have called every week and sent an email every other day and they have still yet to help us. I would honestly highly not recommend going through 23 and me for anybody.

Very interesting results. I got it for my daughter. She has family everywhere.

Now requires insanely long and convoluted passwords to login. Keeps rejecting every password I proposed, and then locked me out. What a garbage customer experience. This isn’t Fort Knox, guys. Tell the idiots who run your website to make it more user friendly.

Customer service experience is horrible. I have been locked out of my account for years and this company refuses to assist. It “sends” emails I don’t receive and refuses to provide human staff to assist. Horrible experience. Ancestry customer service is MUCH more efficient.

Everything was great. Very informative. The app is easy to navigate.

My wife and I sent in our samples on the same day. She received her results within 2 weeks. It's now 5 weeks and I still don't have mine. I am informed that mine is undergoing a quality assurance review. 3 additional weeks and counting for quality assurance? Unacceptable. I asked for a new kit and was told that it is not possible. Not sure if it was a real person or AI as communication is done via online help.

Would be Zero. Back AGAIN. Still not spoken to a sole.
All the customer service Emails have been totally ignored. The chat bottle says to Email !!.
The results of this Will be me given an American Number to ring Customer Services in America , & Yes we have to Pay!!!

This was fun and helpful information for me to have. It took about a month and a half to get the info back after sending in a sample.

I was a customer since 2024 and used to recommend their DNA kits to friends and family. Back then, I could access detailed ancestry information and was genuinely impressed with the service.

Today, much of that information is gone. Data that was previously available in my account has either been hidden or placed behind an additional paid subscription. Apparently, paying for the DNA test itself was not enough.

The worst part is the customer support. I spent over a week asking simple questions: Why was this information removed? Why do some users still have access while others do not? Why am I being asked to pay again for information that was previously available?

Not a single direct answer. Just endless copy-and-paste responses that completely ignored my questions.

This company has lost my trust completely. I will never purchase another product from them and will never recommend them to anyone again.

Accidentally bought a subscription due to a computer error would not let me have a refund had to contact my credit card company. Be careful. These guys are scammers.

23andMe has been a useful and personally meaningful service for me.

I have taken DNA tests with several laboratories, and the results are broadly consistent. For me, this is not just entertainment or curiosity. Since childhood and even today, I have faced assumptions and discrimination related to nationality and ethnic background. People have tried to define me from the outside without knowing the facts.

DNA testing gives me a clearer factual understanding of my genetic background. It helps me separate real ancestry information from stereotypes, prejudice and random assumptions.

I appreciate that 23andMe presents genetic information in a structured and accessible way. The ancestry results, genetic composition and related features are interesting and useful for understanding family history and broader human connections.

At the same time, some parts of the interpretation could be clearer. Genetic ancestry is complex, and users need explanations that are precise but also understandable. When a report gives percentages, regions or timelines, it should be very clear what is being estimated, what is approximate, and what the limits of the method are.

I would also like services like this to help people feel more connected across countries, languages and histories. DNA results can show how mixed and interconnected human lives really are, and this can be a powerful counterargument to prejudice.

Overall, I find 23andMe useful, informative and worth attention. My main criticism is that some explanations could be more transparent and detailed for users who want to understand the results deeply, not just look at a simplified summary.
