Misleading Pricing and Unclear Subscription Terms - Educator Complaint

I am an Educator and I am deeply concerned by the misleading pricing interface on WriteHuman.ai. The website prominently displays a price of $18, leading users to believe this is the immediate charge. However, I was charged $216 upfront for an annual plan without a clear final confirmation of the total amount.
This is a classic example of "Dark Patterns" in UI design, intended to mislead customers. I realized the mistake within seconds and have only used 1 out of 200 requests (I have screenshots of my dashboard as proof).
I have contacted support multiple times to request a refund of the difference ($198) while keeping a monthly subscription, but I have received no response. As a teacher, this lack of transparency is unethical.
I am prepared to escalate this as a formal dispute (Chargeback) through my bank and Stripe if this is not resolved immediately. I will update this review once the company acts fairly.

They will not cancel subscription

The company will not allow me to cancel my subscription. I have been trying for over 2 years and at this point I have no choice but to report them as scammers to my credit card company.

1 star — and that’s generous. If I could give zero, I would.

Most of this rating is due to extremely poor customer support, and secondarily to a subpar service.

As for Turnitin detection, the output does not pass as human. I tested it multiple times and everything was consistently detected, which is why I stopped using the service over a year ago.

What is even more problematic, however, is the billing practice. They do not clearly inform users about subsequent charges, unlike most legitimate subscription services. When I noticed the charge and requested a refund, it was immediately denied. The reason? “Company policy.”

This feels like a cheap and unethical way to keep people’s money and leaves a very bad aftertaste. I highly doubt they will refund me, but if they do, I will update this review accordingly and comment on the customer support experience.

As things stand now, this is a service that deserves less than one star.

Write Human staff jerks you around

Write Human staff jerks you around, takes 3-5 days to answer (thereby making it impossible to get your money back)as they swindle you out of a service you don't even use. Awful. I wish I could give it zero stars.

You're still detected as AI and many…

You're still detected as AI and many times you make errors in a way to pass the AI, but you end up changing the meaning and content, which is a major concern.
