We had scheduled the install of panels and battery months before and were pleased that Zac and Adam arrived promptly. They were very professional and discussed the steps with me along the way and completed the job leaving it fully operational without any hitches. They were obviously very experienced, but also friendly and hard workers. Since then the system has performed faultlessly and is generating as much, if not more, than I expected.

I thoroughly researched solar companies and I'm pleased with my choice to use world of solar. Unfortunately the day of installation the weather was dreadful and it held up the fitting of panels to the roof so they had to come back to finish. Adam and Taz worked hard despite the bad weather. The second visit was late in the afternoon and they were pushed for time as it had gotten dark, yet again they couldn't complete the job.
I don't feel like I had a proper explanation of how all the equipment works as they were keen to get away due to it being early evening, but I can always read the manual.
I think things would have gone along smoother if the weather had been better. I would be happy to recommend World of Solar.

I chose World of Solar based on previous Trustpilot reviews. But it's still a gamble when you invite a company into your home. Well this gamble paid off. They are a very professional, courteous company that have your best interest at heart. They keep you informed throughout the process and offer excellent advice. The installation went very well. However there were a couple of problems to resolve afterwards. I have to say that Adam went above and beyond what I expect from customer service. He even took a call at the weekend when nobody else was picking up. He resolved the problem to MY satisfaction and made time to expedite my request. I recommended them to my Dad and Brother. My Dad is also delighted and my Brother's install is imminent.

Brad, Josh, Harry & Jake - did an amazing job on install. Work was to a very high standard. I cannot fault them at all. Everything in the loft was done to an impeccable standard and none of the wires from the loft to the switch board can be seen at all. They were super polite and incredibly respectful of our home and property. They got it all done in the one day. They talked me through the app and showed me everything I needed to do. I even managed to continue working from home that day with electric being off for only a very small amount of time. Super pleased and thoroughly recommend.

I found my point of contact Leah to be always pleasant and helpful without being pushy to sell more stuff. If I had any questions she was always quick to reply. After I signed the contract I realised that my needs would be better served having fewer panels but more battery storage. She recalculated the new package without any fuss. I genuinely felt that they were trying to meet my needs rather than just selling as much as they could.
I was given a date for the install. Soon after I got a call saying that there were supply issues at Felixstow and my install would be delayed.
Then things went quiet.
I have to say I felt a bit anxious at this point having paid a few thousand as a deposit and not ever having a face to face with a surveyor or anyone from World of Solar. I found myself checking up on Trustpilot to see if we were being scammed. I was reassured by the positive reviews and trusted that things would go as planned (even though they had never seen my loft space or garage and had only seen my roof from google maps and photos I send from my garden).
On the day of the install the electricians and fitters (Brad, Harry and Jake) arrived at 0830 and worked solidly all day. They were cheerful and professional and got straight to it. The panels arrived at 1000 and everything was completed by around 1630 having cleaned up after themselves. Leah called during the day and after completion to ensure I was happy with how things were going.
It was a bit daunting not having them survey the site prior to the start of the work but their adaptability enabled them to achieve a good result that was neat and did the job.
I absolutely would be happy to use these guys again.

A great example of working together....
Having spent a few months looking into solar I took the plunge.
The team at WoS couldn't have been more helpful (I know they were taking a big chunk of money).... From Alex in design, through Mel in planning and the delivery teams (Scaffolding and Installation) from outsource partners - it was a pleasure to deal with professional and communicative people. Every step was explained (even where delays happened) thoroughly and regular contact.

The only hiccup was the DNO - SSEN were a nightmare,

World of Solar. After shopping round and doing comparisons I choose these. The product seemed good along with the price. The instillation team were cheerful and efficient. Technical support kept it simple and straightforward. The final cog in the wheel the installation of the Battery Management System, the workings were instant on the App. All staff were very, very helpful doing a good job, tidy and explained things fully and simply. It was a relatively fluff-free process and it was also swift. The installer team (Adam & Zak) were really professional, friendly and helpful people.
I would recommend Word of Solar if you are looking into a quality installation - but one thing to bear in mind is that it is advised to get someone to measure your roof ahead of the agreement or you should do it yourself if you can inside the attic using some base mathematics.

Today is the first day of generating solar power! Big shout out to the World of Solar team for what was a totally seamless installation from start - Mike and Laura in the planning stage - Tom who did the survey - through to the finish with John and Rich yesterday - they really had their work cut out with the weather but battled through - top draw thank you.

We had Adam and Zac do our installation. The weather was awful however they completed the installation without any fuss. They made sure they kept the house clean and dry. They were fantastic and extremely helpful.

Alex was very professional, courteous, hardworking and friendly . Upon inspection of our roof Alex discovered quite a few broken tiles that had to be replaced , we managed to get some more tiles and Alex was happy to replace them in order to continue the install which was amazing !
Very impressed with Alex’s workmanship and work ethic, he had a very long day and didn’t finish till 8.30.
Highly recommend , the scaffold team were also very good and worked quickly.

I’m very impressed indeed - particularly with the process of fitting and the fitters. I’m confident I made the correct decision to employ World of Solar (WoS). That said, there is room for the company to improve, in particular its business CRM system which is clearly lacking.

Reasons supporting my endorsement:

1. All the staff I dealt with were courteous and helpful.
2. The initial conversation in my case with Tony Hancock was exactly what I was looking for. He is extremely knowledgeable and obviously very experienced in the business. He was not pushy and provided me with plenty of links to follow up on. Being technical, I wanted someone who had a good working knowledge of solar systems and was conversant with essential technical engineering vocabulary. This gave me confidence not gained from calls with other suppliers!
3. WoS is a sizeable company, associated with World of Books and has a reputation to protect.
4. I was able to obtain a quote without a salesman visiting! They use clever software, satellite imaging, a few photos you supply and a recent energy bill. Simple and convenient.
5. Communication at this stage, mainly by email was efficient and provided exactly what I needed prior to signing the contract.
6. WoS has EPVS, MCS Certification and HEIS Customer Protection.
7. Before installation, Tom surveyed the property so I was able to discuss the options for siting the batteries and inverter.
8. High build quality and finish of the Growatt component parts and the panels. In particular, the batteries, inverter and associated peripherals appear to be of excellent construction and surpassed expectation. They come with a 10 year guarantee.
9. Finally, the two fitters Adam and Zack who eventually fitted and commissioned the whole system were superb. I can not speak highly enough of them. From the moment they arrived, it was clear I was dealing with highly experienced, qualified and well equipped experts who really did know their stuff! (This is significant as explained later). Apart from the speed, efficiency and accuracy with which they worked, they were great to be around, both being guys with really interesting backgrounds. As representatives of the WoS company, there can be no better!

Lead time and supply:

I placed the order for the system back in June 2022 but installation was not completed until late October. I understand the reasons for this which are beyond SoS’s control: disruption to supply of solar panels brought about by Brexit, shortage of labour and latterly dock workers strike action meaning containers stuck at sea and in Felixstowe. (China’s sales to Europe totalled $14.2 billion from January to July, or about 54 gigawatts, according to BloombergNEF. There is not a shortage of panels just availability and shortage of fitters).

In the end, we had to put up with scaffolding covering the back of the house for over six weeks. Whilst not ideal, I could put up with that but it was the miscommunication during the intervening weeks that was so poor. Clearly our details were not centralised and being updated by the various staff. Being kept informed of the changes to installation date, availability of panels, who would be coming to fit what and when was far less than satisfactory and often contradictory.

At one point men returned to remove the scaffold as they thought the installation had been completed. Then two contracted fitters were sent to install wiring, the batteries and inverter. To cut the story short, they were referred to Hereford hospital A&E after just two hours, after I had administered first aid to an extremely bad laceration to a hand, likely to require surgery! I stress they were subcontracted who clearly were very inexperienced/under-qualified. It took us an hour to clean up the blood from the walls and floor! Scary.

That said, a call to Shirley Thomas (Operations Director) restored my confidence. She provided the concern and attention I was looking for and a new date with their own fitters swiftly scheduled.

Final installation:

As stated, when eventually the system was installed, I was very impressed. Quite extraordinary that Adam and Zack can achieve what they do in a day. Mind you, its a long day and they don’t stop! They were unlucky, in that what turned out to be a faulty current inductive clamp meter prevented the system being fully functional on the day. But Adam returned with a replacement a couple of days later and checked the system. They certainly saved the day and are the main reason why I have already started recommending WoS to my friends and acquaintances.

Sadly, the weather has been bad most of the days since! But on the two days we had sun, with two full batteries, we were virtually self sufficient. And that’s in November! Roll on the spring and summer :-)

Signed on the dotted line mid July and was up and running early September, not bad in the current circumstances! All questions I had were answered satisfactorily and gave me confidence with moving forward.

The 2 man team had my install done in a day (11 panels with battery storage) and kept everything looking very neat and tidy. All rubbish was taken away and everything was left as if they had never been here.

I have now been generating for 2 months exactly (808 kWh captured in that time) and am now sitting at an average 75% off grid, happy days!

Finally the paperwork required to claim the SEG payments arrived in good time and am now also being paid for my export at 0.15p per kWh (Octopus)

All in all its been a good experience for me and would not hesitate to recommend WOS, thanks all.
